She told me she could do it, but unfortunately, it became clear during the haircut that she did not know how to achieve the style. She cut my hair short and then tried to use a hairdryer and comb to make it look like the pictures, but it did not work. I showed her the reference photos again and asked if she could get help from someone else. She asked a colleague, who showed her how to cut the style, but she still seemed unsure how to do it. Eventually, the owner had to step in and finish the haircut for me. For a long-hair haircut that cost about $100 total ($85 for the haircut plus a $15 tip), I was very disappointed with the experience. At this price point, I expected the stylist to be able to achieve the hairstyle she had confirmed she could do, or to be upfront from the beginning if it was outside her expertise. Unfortunately, based on my experience, it was not worth the price or time.

I found this salon with a Yelp search this summer during my transition from one Country to the next. I found the on-line appointment system, highly efficient and got an appointment convenient for me on short notice. I had Carlo Martini do a hair color and cut for me. His hair coloring and cut were the best I have had in my life and out of the many Countries I have lived and travelled to over years and had my hair done in.(Australia, Singapore, London, Russia, Indonesia, New York, to name a few) It was even a few weeks after I arrived in Saudi Arabia that I realized how great the color was. Natural, not brassy, no lines just beautiful! The cut is growing out so nicely and after 8 weeks both color and cut still look fab! I'm quite afraid to go to another stylist at this point and have them ruin both. I would fly him here if they allowed it and he could bring his chemicals on the plane! Great personality and fun to talk with. A real Pro! Knows his stuff. I would highly recommend this salon and especially Carlo Martini! read more

I have been going to Red Union for a year and a half. Mika is my stylist. She listens to what I want every time. She is so artistic in the way she cuts and colors, which is so comforting. She has helped me with changing my hair style, and making decisions on what looks best, which is hard for a male to find. So many of the stylists I have been to give me the typical boy haircut. I have sent so many of my friends to her and they have all been extremely happy. Oh and I get so many compliments since going to her. You will too I promise. They have gossip magazines to read, which I love, as well as featured artists artwork. She always offers me a cold beverage and she puts this heated rice pad around my neck. Of course this is for her most valued clients I assume (he he). LOVE YOU MIKA!! read more

Since my "regular" stylist of 4 years booked for Australia 3 years ago, I've been bouncing around between salons and stylists with limited success. I've finally found a suitable replacement, an upgrade in fact, in Red Union. The place has a great feel, the staff is friendly and fun and Heather did a super job with my haircut. I have been looking for something that manages a compromise between my conservative corporate job and my diverse social settings and Heather came up with a style that is easy to manage and looks great in either venue. She takes a creative and thorough approach to her work and she is all about making you happy with the results. Personally, I couldn't be happier. Carlo Martini is everything you would want in your hair stylist. He is talented and creative. Carlo has been cutting my hair since 2001, and I always receive compliments from strangers as well as friends. Carlo does not just cut hair, he is a gifted stylist. His philosophy is that hair is an asset that should be styled to frame and flatter the face, not to hide it. He is also a talented colorist. He artfully matches color to skin tones and hair. When I brought a good friend to him several years ago, she absolutely loved the result. She said that he had actually recreated the blonde color of her childhood. She looked great! The owner, multiple times, mentioned I was too dark skinned to go full blonde (mind you I'm a Fitzpatrick level 4) LOL no skin color is too dark for blonde? I've literally never heard that in the modern age. Second, hairdresser said some slightly backhanded thing about her assistants Afro being sometimes "too big or scary" when she combs out. All in all not the worst place, and my hair was fine (I give B+) but damn maybe it's because the main hairdresser is from a slightly older generation, I haven't dealt with tongue in cheek racism outside of Boomer dinner parties.

Vidi absolutely nailed my hair! She really listened to everything I wanted and blended my balayage…read moreperfectly while keeping my blonde bright and dimensional. She gave me the exact money pieces I asked for and made my hair look so healthy and beautiful. Her technique and attention to detail are amazing, and she styled it perfectly at the end. On top of that, she has such a calming energy and is so easy to talk to. I felt completely comfortable trusting her with my hair and couldn't be happier with the results!

I left the salon lying because I didn't want to cause a scene in a lovely establishment. I was…read moresupposed to get light brown baby highlights, instead I got full head of level 8-9 highlights on near black hair. I've grown my hair out for years, after a horrible bleach experience which I voiced my concerns on the bleach and was told "we aren't lightening it that much anyway" No test strand was done, and what happened when I went home was my hair was stretching and falling out. I went from long mid back hair to hair at my collarbone again from needing to cut off damage. I will never trust the salon again. I was so excited to finally get my hair to a long healthy state. Now my hair is brittle and can barely be combed through without multitude of breakage. It is an ashy blonde that I specifically said I wanted it to be subtle dimension as a brunette. But I look like I just came out of a blonde highlight salon.
