Desiree is amazing and so talented! It's so hard to find a stylist that gets you-- I'm so glad I found Desiree and Unity Salon!

I highly recommend Desiree! I went to her after reading a bunch of great reviews on here and I can say they are accurate. She really listens to what you want and does exactly that. In my experience, it usually takes a few times for a colorist to get it right (because I'm very particular) but Desiree got it right the first time. That has never happened to me before. For weeks I kept looking at my hair in shock at how happy I was with the results. If you are a picky blonde like me, look no further. The Olaplex formula she used was really good and seemed to keep my fresh highlights healthy. Not only is Desiree an excellent colorist, she is super friendly and great to talk to! Desiree has been my hairstylist for years I love how she keeps my hair color looking natural. Every time I get my hair done, strangers approach me to tell me how good my hair looks. True! I've never felt more adored by a hair stylist in my life. When she colors my hair, I also get highlights and she literally paints my hair the entire time the color processes. Her technique gives my hair this natural multi-layered blonde look that I now can't really do without. My partner asked me to never stop going to Desiree because he loves the look. A grounded hair sanctuary in the heart of the city. I am so grateful to have found Desiree Green and Unity Salon. Finding a new stylist is always a bit of a risk for me and I am so glad to have landed here in this beautiful space and Desiree's loving and skilled hands. Desiree is a great listener, a skilled stylist, attentive, loving, and has great time management (a huge plus when it comes to hair!). The environment of Unity is so peaceful, loving, and calm. I have been coming to Desiree for years. She was a recommendation from my daughter of whom she got a recommendation from her girlfriend that had been going to her for years prior. Last year, Desiree became the proud owner of what is now called the "Unity Salon". With that said, I moved to Arizona.... Still flew in to get my hair done. Now I moved to Texas and YES.......... I really do fly all the way to SF to have her do my hair, she is that good. Literally no one can get my highlights done as well as she does them. The salon is warm, friendly and cheerful... Everything you want while waiting to get your hair done. I wish I could get it 10 stars!!!! read more

I found Desiree a few years back and have been really happy with her. She is now the owner of Unity Salon and I've only been once during this pandemic but the space is fantastic as is Desiree! There's lots of space and it's quite airy and feels super safe. I do both color and cut and love the new space and of course Hayes Valley is a nice neighborhood so whenever I go I treat myself to some ice cream at Salt & Straw afterwards. read more

Jennifer DeFiglio is amazing and I've recommended all of my friends to her! I had grown my hair out over 2 years and had an unruly feral mop on my head. She took a lot of time and care and talked me through what she thought I could do with my hair, she showed me pics of people who had hair similar to mine so I could get a feel for what the possibilities are. She was patient and kind and a complete joy to hang out with! The cut she gave me is a lot of fun and I get compliments on my hair all the time! (Not something I'm used to!) Desiree is amazing. About 8 years ago, my best friend (who has curly hair) recommended Desiree. I (stick straight hair) got my haircut and it was honestly the best cut I have ever had. Unfortunately, I moved out of town. I recently moved back to the bay area and went back to Desiree (she still cuts my friend's hair) and, lo and behold, got another amazing haircut. I've been going to Jennifer DeFiglio for several years, and this salon is my favorite location so far! The space is really airy and pretty, and the fact that they can have the windows open makes me feel especially safe right now. In addition to that, the salon is super clean and sanitized, everyone is masked, and everything is very spaced out. As far as my hair goes, I LOVE IT! Jen has taken me through so many different colors and styles. She listens to what I want, and is also incredibly thoughtful about giving suggestions and steering me in the right direction. Jennifer DeFiglio is amazing! She is safe and cautious and make sure clients are not back to back so she has time to clean and sanitize before the next client. The salon itself is beautiful and airy and in a great location above the street level. Jenn is an intuitive hair stylist! She knew what I wanted and needed before I even mentioned what I wanted with my curly/wavey hair. I highly recommend booking an appointment with Jenn ASAP! Just had cut and balayage performed by Maiko. The cut is perfect. I have thick, straight hair which is really hard to cut well. Maiko worked her magic and gave me layers to lighten up the load, but somehow managing to give me a nice shape and volume. I'm so glad to have her maintain my style. read more

Desiree got her skills!! She is one of the most talented hairstylist in the city. I came in with a frizzy blob of hair and she magically fixed it. the end result was perfectly coiffed curls and waves that I couldn't take my eyes off the mirrors checking to see if the frizzies have come back and it hasn't. Woke up the next morning and their still intact with minimal styling to be done to it. Check her out! I had my first hair styling after nearly 9 months. The make over of Unity Salon was truly refreshing, very clean, lots of fresh green plants and open windows. I felt sooo at home there with Desiree. I have been going to Desiree for my hair for four years now and she always does an excellent job! I love that she always listens to her clients preferences and genuinely cares about her clients leaving happy. Desiree is an artist when it comes to hair and I always leave her salon feeling like the Queen of the Universe. She is also one of the kindest people you will ever meet and is ultra sweet. My boyfriend now gets his hair done by Desiree and since I got him started, he doesn't want to go anywhere else! I'm so delighted that Desiree has opened her own salon. The salon is ultra clean and she has multiple air filtration systems running at all times. She is compliant with all COVID cleaning requirements --- I mean honestly, her salon is so clean---I could have surgery performed there, feels so sparkling clean!
