There is few times I actually enjoy going to the dentist, but this was completely unavoidable now; I chipped my tooth a couple days ago when trying to take apart my bed frame (I accidentally whacked myself in the face with the drill) and the Front Desk Manager at Dr. Rauterkaus' office, Michelle was able to fit me in today to get my tooth repaired and also dealt with my insurance company to work out the kinks in my payment plan while I was getting my teeth worked on. This is a really mellow, well decorated and beautiful office. I have never seen a place care so much about their patients! He put images in the fluorescent light fixtures on the ceiling to allow people something to look at so that they do not get bored, there is a fish tank in the room and it is not an all white room, it is blue and beach themed! These are positives to me, I like having things to look at, it keeps me from tensing up. Dr. David and his staff are awesome! They do a great job from booking to exit and make you feel like you are welcome in their home. They go out of their way and above and beyond to make this a memorable experience in a good way, I would highly, highly recommend them to friends and family. He also sees my 3 kids, my husband, my mom and dad, brother, sister in law, nephew and friend. He is very professional and has a lot of high tech stuff to make visits easy and thourough. Thanks Dr. Rauterkus! I was at the movies with the family when my entire front veneer came off. This was the day after New Year's. My regular dentist was closed but Dr. Rauterkus had just moved in next door and was open. I walked in and needed rush help and his staff and team were absolutely the best. Dr. Rauterkus took me in and re-cemented the veneer and got me back in action at no charge. I was able to get back to the theater and still finish 3/4 of the movie with my family. When I made our appointment at this office, I was told that they accepted our insurance and we would be covered at 100% for cleanings. That was both true and incredibly misleading. When we got our bill, we found out that Dr. Rauterkus was out of network, and we would only be covered at 100% of their "reasonable cost," which Dr. R far exceeded. For 3 cleanings, it cost my family over $500. The receptionist said, "yeah, we lose some patients when they find out about the cost." On top of that, my child got a sealant on her molars that the staff costed out for me, and their estimate was completely off--it ended up being way more. I wrote Dr. Rauterkus about my experience and never heard back from him. He is out to make a buck--I would not trust him. read more

My family have been seeing "Dr. David" for over 20 years. After moving from the Poway area, we still make the 20 mile drive because the care is so good. I've only ever had a few experiences with dentists and none of them have been very positive. The few I have had have been rushed through dental work that should have been spread out over time, having teeth pulled that could have been repaired... I've had many reasons to avoid dentistry at all costs, so you can probably understand why I was skeptical of this office at first. Upon arrival I was nervous but greeted instantly with warm welcomes and smiles! I've had cleanings done by both Kim and Melissa and they are both very kind and patient. I let them know how nervous I was on multiple occasions and neither of them ever pressured me to do more than I was ready for in a visit. Both Dr's are wonderful, Dr Altrock did multiple inlays on me, something j had never had done before and was very soft with her touch and consistently asked me how I was doing and gave me breaks in between. Dr David is hilarious, the kinda dr that makes you feel comfortable within the first few minutes of meeting.. he'll have you laughing non stop and won't hesitate to tell you about his chickens. Dr. Rauterkus and his staff are world class. You cannot find a more friendly, positive, or skilled group of dentistry experts. I had moderate to severe gum disease with a need to for dental implant and several teeth in need of veneers. On top of all that my teeth were yellowed and in desperate need of whitening. Dr. Rauterkus and his team of superstars to the rescue. First one of his superstar hygienists (Kim) very professionally but gently deep cleaned my teeth. But what she really did was encourage me to keep flossing and brushing to improve my overall gum health. Then arrives the tooth whitening fairy (Julie) to Zap my teeth back to when I was in my twenties (I'm in my late 50's). Then in comes the super hero himself (Dr. Rauterkus) to cap my two front teeth utilizing an amazing software 3D imaging system that creates absolutely perfect, real looking teeth. Lastly he filled a small cavity and shaped my bottom teeth to create a smile I am showing off every chance I get. I no longer have to photo shop a winning smile into business photos like LinkedIn. I was a guy who maybe flossed once a month, how embarrassing. Now I have found myself flossing twice in one day with no bleeding gums. I highly recommend Dr. Rauterkus and his staff for any dental concern you might have. Their positive approach to dentistry is the key to you wanting to improve your dental health. I've had a super difficult time finding a PCP and also a Dentist since moving to San Diego...that was 9 years ago. I would literally plan dental appointments around my trips home, because the ones I met out here; were absolutely not personable and lacked the bedside manner. I had a little emergency with a tooth I had a root canal with 10 years ago and found Dr. Rauterkus's office. They fit me in right away which was shocking. The office staff is...out of this world. They are SO NICE. Huge patient advocates and were extremely helpful when it came to insurance and the referral process. They got me in that day with an endo; and were super compassionate. I met Dr. Rauterkus on my F/up and I wish I would have discovered this office sooner. He's kind, and warm which makes dental work a bit of a breeze. He thoroughly explained the procedure and was gentle. The dental assistants are also perfect human beings. Exceptional Service, incredibly knowledgeable, AMAZING bedside manner. I don't know if my insurance cover's this office; and it may be out of network causing me to pay more out of pocket...however...I had such a great experience(s) that I really don't care and will make Dr. R my new dentist. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Rauterkus's for a couple of years now and have been very happy with the dental care that I have gotten from him and his great staff. I recently decided to have my teeth whitened with the in office Zoom whitening treatment and I am very pleased with the results. My teeth are several shades whiter and the procedure was pretty simple. It took a little more than an hour, the dental technician was very attentive and checked on me often to make sure I felt OK and I got to watch a movie while the treatment was sitting on my teeth.
