The dentist is amazing as well as his supportive staff , but what I appreciated the most , and is different than my other experiences is that , he does not try to sell you on more than what you need . Making an appointment was relatively easy. The facility is modern and nice. The overall intake experience was decently good. Initial meeting with the dentist went fine. However, like another reviewer here, I encountered this push to get work done that my former dentist (who retired) didn't require. The treatment was quite expensive and the office manager was pushing it relatively hard. To make matters worse, nearly 6 months later, I'm told that the thousands that I paid isn't enough as my insurance won't cover the cost, and I had to pay another $500 on top of what was already paid. read more

I was thinking trying new dentist out as my last dentist sold their business. And this has a bunch of good yelp reviews. Boy was that a huge mistake. First consultation and I'm met with a lady after who parks me in a side room with a consultation. Prior to this the dental hygienist repeatedly told me "we won't sell you on anything you don't need." After the preliminary x-rays the hygienist went in to look at my gums. You know when they throw a number for root planing this guy was throwing up 4s, 5s, and 6s in milliseconds. All of a sudden I have horrible gum disease I never thought I had. The lady giving me a "dental plan" of $2000+ after insurance was telling me of how many state of the art laser interrogations I needed that insurance wouldn't cover at all. Fast forward to my dental cleaning. Btw I have to pay out of pocket a significant amount bc "I have gum disease now". They numbed me up so bad I couldn't go back into work. I had 2 sessions of periodontal scaling and root planing. The first lasted 30 minutes. The second lasted 15 minutes. These should have gone for an hour and a half. I went to a new dentist who told me none of what this dentist stated was accurate. This Origin Dentist after my first visit asked me to write a 5 star review. I can't believe how many chumps are going to write 5 star reviews because of the hip music and reed diffusers make them feel like this is a good honest dentist when clearly there's very little integrity here. Dr. Tran tried to help me with a night guard, and it didn't end up working out. However, the way Dr. Tran handled the situation showed that he's a dentist who stands by the quality of his work. He was willing to refund me for my night guard and reverse the insurance claim, which not a lot of dentists would be willing to do. I think this situation really showed that he is honest. I actually really enjoy going to this dentist office, I didn't like my other dentist in Mira Mesa, I saw the reviews and thought I should try this place out and have been coming here for 3 years now. When I first got my mouth guard, I think I came in and got refitted and least three times and they were so patient about it. My dentist of 10+ years retired, and I never thought I would find another dentist like him. My wife was referred to a fancy dentist in La Jolla that I never connected with. They were always pushing services that weren't necessary to drive up revenue. Every time I walked in my senses were heightened and when I left I would have trusted friends in the healthcare field triple check their work. They are thorough, offer options and are clear what is recommended, but not required, and if you go with something that isn't required they don't pressure at all.
