A very long long overdue review. Dr. Mojaver is amazing. He is gentle and very detailed. He explains everything clearly. My family and I have been seeing Dr for about 6 years. He took my smile from snaggle tooth to beautiful! Invisalign was easy and worth it! The entire staff is great! Everyone is friendly and professional. Start to finish the process is seamless. The first time I went to this dental office was back in February, and I had an overall positive experience at that time. I went again in August as you can see in both of these images, and I had an entirely different experience. Somewhere between February and August baby came and out of network provider and while we are required to let them know any insurance updates, they do not do the same. Out of the two times I had went they offered fluoride treatment, and did not specify it would be an extra charge. The first time I declined, and the second time I agreed because I had come across the coupon on yelp. I didn't notify the woman that I would be using this coupon and as you can see it had been used. However, she decided to go ahead and run it through my insurance so that they could collect the money on it rather than honoring the free service they offered. In addition to this, I was quoted for a crown and a filling without them checking my insurance. They asked if they could do that for me and when they did they came back with even higher numbers. When I asked if she had actually contacted my insurance, she said no. So I am confused about what was projected and how it continue to get higher between employees and the fact that she wanted to convince me that she had discussed this with my insurance prior to me sharing my knowledge of what is actually covered. This has been a fiasco, and I'm ashamed to say that I actually referred friends to this place based off of my first experience and find out that others are also having the same issue. read more

Today was my first day going to modern dentistry. Upon arriving I was warmly welcomed by the receptionist I did not have my insurance card with me and they kindly were able to obtain my information from the insurance company. The hygienist that I saw was very thorough and cleaned my teeth very well. I loved chatting with her. She made my experience so relaxing. After my cleaning, I got x-rays and an exam by Dr. Mojaver. My exam was very thorough and I did not feel rushed. He answered all my questions and was nice and honest. I highly recommend this office! read more

It is an assembly line type of dentistry. Never once met the owner of the dental practice. Two different "part-time" dentist stopped by for a quick consultation. Cleaning is quick and not thorough. Six years ago, during my second visit at Modern Dentistry, Dr. Mojaver discovered a crown that needed replacing plus a second one in six months. The quote included a billing code 9999 which is a non existent medical code. In other words, just padding to the bill. I took his quote to a new dentist for her review of these specific crowns. She found nothing wrong. Six years later, after my morning check up, everything I'd fine. Those crowns are still fine and no problems with the underlying teeth. Stay away unless you like to have unnecessary dental work. read more

Warning to all people who are using this office or considering its service. They may hit you with charges that far beyond the insurance coverage and ask you to pay for it. I am a regular customer and was scheduled with an oral exam with a doctor who are not listed/approved by Delta Dental, my insurance company. They did so without telling me in advance. After the exam, they asked me to pay $260 for the service. I asked them why they can't file insurance (which they usually do). They told me that the doctor is new and not yet listed with Delta Dental. They said that I must pay the $260 and will reimburse me after the insurance pays. Two months later, they never contacted me about this, while they have received insurance payment of $89 for the service, which is what they agreed with Delta Dental. When I called them about it last week, they said that they would only reimburse me $89, not $260. I called my insurance, who told me that my obligation is $0 and it is wrong for the dental office to do so. The insurance will contact the office on my behalf. So, far the office refused to pay me back $260. Folks, watch out for this scam from this office and do not ever pay anything in advance to them. I am still waiting for this to be resolved. I went in to get my teeth whitened today and they were kind enough to fit me in for a much needed dental cleaning and exam as well. The whitening process was much easier than I had anticipated and so thankful that I have no sensitivity post treatment. I think the Fluoride application was a big help. The office was nice and clean with a relaxing background music. Staff and Dr. Mojaver were helpful, respectful and gentle. They even had TVs on the ceiling which helped with distraction and passing of time. I have always had a great experience at this office. I highly recommend this office. read more

I did wisdom teeth extraction here in Feb 2024. The first thing I told them was I have dental insurance, they said nothing about the doctor being out of network, and they happily charged me almost $2k for three teeth (mind you that was after insurance paid something)! It was not until after I got home I realized something was wrong, meaning I got ripped off. Had they told me the out-of-network thing I would have walked away immediately to find someone that was within network of my insurance. When I called them later their stories kept changing: the first time I called they said they told me the doctor was out of network (and accusing me of not listening); the second time they said they had a sign somewhere (again accusing me of not looking for and inspecting that alleged sign); and the third time the office manager said there was an alleged text message that was sent to me saying the doctor was out of network. Ever changing stories, and one thing stays the same - they were all LIES and I was never informed of the doctor being out of network. This place does not care about integrity or being honest! They set up traps, say nothing, and then watch you jump into the traps! The office manager actually admitted that they do not want to remind people (that ALL of their surgeons are out of network), allegedly because some people may get offended. Of what???!!! Not having to pay the ridiculously high out-of-network cost? Going to bring this to the Dental Board of California. Wish I could select a zero star. read more

I cannot bear any more about how they treat our family after being over 10 years of loyal customer. Let me briefly explain it here. We had an issue with my wife's night-guard last year, and Dr. Mojav didn't clean up after cut the edges to fit it and put it into her mouse with lots of plastic kind of residues on it. We asked the dangerous of the situation, and he replied basically saying that it'll be safe as the harmful of the material is unknown. So I asked again to get more detail but he just replied he cannot work with our family any more, since we cannot trust him. We were really shocked from the response and then soon after the office sent us the family balance which includes many wrong information; they charged me what they didn't submit a claim to the insurance or charge on service items which paid off already couple years ago. So I had to search all my records to verify that the invoice and found most of the items are incorrectly charged, so they corrected some of them. I had to do the same conversation several times till now but seems they didn't care about this issues any more, except for charging more money to us, once they decided not to care our family. After long long conversation, they agreed to refund the remaining credit, but I found they still calculated incorrectly, so I asked to correct it but they didn't response at all for more than a month now. I'm exhausted now and cannot bear any more, so writing this review, even I hesitated because of the relationship so far. However I saw their attitude was changed 180° differently, after the night guard issue occurred. read more

Although I cannot get into specifics, I can share I had only two face-to-face appointments, one wasn't even for a service, it was to discuss the money I've wisely chosen to spend elsewhere. But boy they sure aren't programmed for problem-solving. I'm surprised they didn't fall over and start sparking when I called them out on their disrespect for my time, multiple texts about appointments I never made, and the odd "error" they made involving dollars. But *whew* I managed to escape Stepford. I was actually referred by a coworker. Will be sure to thank him. If you've already been there, check your bills and read all EOB's from your dental insurance. Oh BTW I do not recommend them. read more

Amazing dentist! Trustworthy, honest, gentle and will never pressure you into anything. I met him initially when he was working for a different dentist in another area. Even my children have been going there since they were little babies and now they are 22 and 24 years old. There will always be a few people leaving bad reviews, but I have been in the medical field my whole career as well as working in dental here and there and Dr Mojaver, Jessica and his staff are all honest and extremely knowledgeable. I'm new to modern dentistry but Dr. Holly and her staff are incredibly nice , supportive, comforting , efficient and excellent at their jobs . I've had a root canal , cleaning and a crown which brought me to the dentist. I was so nervous but once I was greeted and welcomed by Dr. Holly I felt so safe and completely trusting in their ability to fix me up. My first time here and I'm so happy to find a dentist I will be happy to come back to. I had been seeing a dentist for ten years up in Escondido and was very happy until they changed their practice and started pushing me to have procedures done that I didn't feel were necessary. I stayed with them mostly because I didn't want to go shopping for a new dentist but after awhile I decided it was time to find a new dentist. I searched on Yelp and "Modern Dentistry" stood out with all the rave reviews from other customers. Given their reputation and proximity, I decided to give them a try. I called and getting signed up was quite easy over the phone. They do have an online patient portal, however, I was never able to access it. I did email them regarding this issue and never heard back from them. The day of my appointment, I arrived a few minutes early figuring as a new patient, there would be some paperwork. They are located in a small strip mall with plenty of free parking. The office was very nice and the staff greeted me when I came in. The registration was completed on a tablet and while relatively easy, the tablet seemed to have some connectivity problems. I didn't wait very long at all before I was called back. They took a series of x-rays before the hygienist came in to clean my teeth. I normally get my teeth cleaned every six months and have since I was very young and I can honestly say I've never had someone clean my teeth the way Christina did. I've always thought hygienist in the past have done a good job, but they pale in comparison to Christina. I have never had such a thorough cleaning of my teeth! I appreciated the way I was treated by Christina; after awhile she understood that I knew she was going to use the suction. She didn't have to say anything and I just closed my mouth at the appropriate time. After, Dr. Mojaver came in to discuss my current dental health. He went over some issues I was already aware of and he made some suggestions. He was very personable and we even chatted about a few things non-dental related. After my visit with the dentist, the office staff went over treatment recommendations and emailed me the information along with the costs associated with them. I am very pleased to have found a new dentist that is closer than my previous dentist and no doubt I will continue my care here with Dr. Mojaver. If you live in the area or nearby vicinity, I cannot recommend Dr. Mojaver enough! There was no push to scheduled the procedures he recommended and Christina is without a doubt the best hygienist I've ever come across and the staff are exceptional. From Dr. Mojaver to his staff, they deserve more than five stars for how they treat their patients. Let me give you a quick example - when I was getting a crown, the first crown that came in didn't fit well because my temporary crown came out and the teeth moved. Because Dr. Mojaver really cares about the quality of his work, he took the time to get a new crown done and in a few days, the new crown was a perfect fit. Everyone here is so nice and great. They made my visit more enjoyable than other dentistry places I have been. They are one of my favorite dentist place in the country. I've lived in San Francisco, Chicago, and New York so it's a blessing when I find a dentist I am happy with. I came here for a deep cleaning and wisdom teeth extraction along with some maintenance cleaning as well. Every time I've been here it's always been a pleasant experience. The nurses really know what they are doing because my teeth felt a lot more cleaner than when I came in for the deep cleaning, usually I can't tell too much of a difference but this time with the work that she put into it I knew it was extremely clean, it was funny because she wore me a head that I would being a little bit of pain and that she was not going to go easy on me. I guess that was a good thing to hear and not a good thing as well, but in the end I was very happy with my deep cleaning. As for the wisdom teeth extraction I knew I came to the right place because when I left I did not feel a thing and then when I got home I felt just fine. I don't usually go to the dentist too much because I've always had a fear for them since I was young but modern dentistry help alleviate as much of those fears as I wish I could have had. read more

So I'm EXTREMELY anxious about the dentist. A bad experience years ago kept me from staying up to date with dental work. But I knew how important it was so I started my search over the past few months. I thankfully stumbled upon Modern Dentistry (bonus that it's just minutes from my home) and it was an absolutely gem of a find. The staff (and I mean everyone) is so kind and welcoming. Friendly is an understatement. They went above and beyond to calm my nerves and I felt so safe and taken care of and even in the midst of COVID. My cleaning was gentle, quick and perfect. A couple of fillings were needed and they did everything possible to calm and relax me and at no point was anything painful. I love this place! I've been on the hunt for a new dentist after feeling like another cheek in the seat with my original dentist. Staff here really seem to love their job. So knowledgeable and actually care about their patients. My appointment as a first time patient was at 2pm today. Checked in and was seen within a timely manner. The dental hygienist was very thorough with my cleaning. Patients even get their own chapstick!! Each patient gets their nice own full screen TV with personal headphones. You can even choose what you watch! My fiancé's appointment was right after and he had all the great things to say. When the dentist came around he made necessary recommendations and said I was a candidate for Invisalign! I hadn't been to the dentist in far too long when I came to see Dr. Mojaver. They started my treatment with a full set of X-rays and then did a deep cleaning that was gentle while being very thorough. I was referred to an excellent Endodontist to try and repair a damaged root canal. The tooth was not able to be saved so I was given a referral to an excellent oral surgeon to extract it. I needed extensive repair work on several old fillings and crowns, and Dr. Mojaver was able to schedule me 3 times over the course of two weeks since I was going out of town. Dr. Mojaver is friendly and very knowledgeable. He explained everything I needed to have done and then did all of the work quickly and expertly. I did not experience any pain while he was working on my mouth, and no pain, just a bit of soreness (from holding my mouth open for so long) after my visits. Dr. Mojaver and his staff clearly have a great working relationship and try to make your dental experience as pleasant as possible. They worked with my insurance company to make sure as much of the cost was covered as possible, and even extended the insurance discount to me for the cost of the procedures that weren't covered once I had used up my benefits. I have been going to Modern Dentistry for teeth cleaning and check ups for four years now, and the service is great, every single time! Everyone here is so nice, and make you feel very welcome and at ease. They always play the ceiling TV while I get my teeth cleaned, which is awesome because I get to watch HGTV guilt free for half an hour. Dr Mojaver is really awesome - he took out one of my wisdom teeth a couple of months ago, and not only did I feel less than average pain, it also healed very quickly with no complications. After hearing horror stories about other people's wisdom teeth, I was so happy to have such a good experience.
