I highly recommend the doctors, hygienists and administrative staff there, in particular Dr. George Stevens. I had a tooth decaying beneath its ancient crown. It was nagging me, telling me it was heading toward its nerve and about to light up my mouth in pain. It pretty much guaranteed a true challenge for any dentists. I had consulted at least 4 over 7 years. The gnarly look of it coupled with my high dental anxiety caused them to postpone or flat out declined addressing it. Not Dr. Stevens. He made it a priority in treating my teeth. He provided all the different approaches to its repair. With great care and expertise, and sans pain! he set about the arduous task of saving and restoring it. Now it looks amazing and, as importantly, feels wonderful. There is more work ahead, and of course, I will entrust it to Dr. Stevens. Also, it is worth noting: the office is tucked up in the lush environment of historic Marlborough Street, one of the last businesses allowed there giving it a sense of home that is welcoming, relaxing and comforting. I was already hesitant because he was out of network with my insurance, but I decided to go to the consultation, at the very least, since he was so highly recommended. I am so glad I did. Within 30 minutes of extremely detailed explanation, full of laid out options and risks, I knew I wanted him to be the one to perform my gum grafts. I left feeling well informed about what I needed, what to expect, and how to proceed. I didn't feel pressured and he made sure I clearly understood what I was getting myself into. I scheduled my gum graft for a month out and sat in my anxiety as the day approached. As per many occasions in life, the event itself was way quicker and simpler than built up in my head. Dr. Rusnock talked me through the whole process before starting and got to numbing me up as soon as I was ready. Once that was taken care of, he quickly got to work and gave me updates as he went (we're about halfway done, only one step left, etc.) with the gum graft process taking only about a half hour. Once done, he gave me a few last reminders and I scheduled my follow up. Everyone in the office was extremely friendly, empathetic, and answered all my silly questions (so when can I eat a steak?) and encouraged me to reach out if I needed help. Luckily, I didn't, but it was nice to feel like I could reach out and get support if I needed it. As I walked out, I couldn't believe I'd walked into his office less than an hour before. At this point, I'm not even entirely healed yet and still have one more follow up scheduled but I couldn't wait to write this review to share my experience and recommend his office. I know exactly who I'm going to for my next gum graft. If you're in need of a great periodontist who is friendly, well informed, and really funny, this is where you want to go!

Because these people failed to accurately do my medical intake - I almost had a 5k dollar expenditure. I had been a patient at GHDP-Somerville for nearly 10 years. My first dentist was fantastic, he left. My second dentist, fantastic, he left. My subsequent dentists all mediocre to poor. I had a number of primary dentists here, so many changes to my service that I lost track of how many there were. The quality of hygienists, awful. Cleanings took longer stopped being comprehensive - my last cleaning I had to remind the hygienist they missed the entire bottom left of my mouth. The last... and I mean absolute last straw was my experience with Dr. Tsering DMD. I finally decided to move on. After my cleaning, they discovered I had a filling that had failed\broken and were intent on fixing it. As they started taking my blood pressure, I noted several times to the hygienist that they had my sleeve in the pressure cuff, so they weren't going to get an accurate response. I also insisted on them using a larger cuff (I have larger biceps and triceps) to get an accurate reading - they refused, ignored everything I said... and got a bonkers blood pressure reading. They insisted on me getting a primary care visit before they would fill the cavity. A month goes by, I cannot get an appointment. I tried to get it scheduled and was rather rudely dismissed by "Patrick" at the front desk when I called and explained that the tooth needed to be addressed. This was just before Christmas, it took me until mid February (nearly four months from the start) to get a new primary care dr. and a visit who said... the same thing every one of my doctors has ever said "Make sure they are using a right size cuff" I switched to another dentist closer to home - he filled the cavity last week and to quote him "You're lucky, I was barely able to fill this it may still need a root canal, we should watch this very closely" Go literally ANYWHERE ELSE

Dr. Feldman just took all four of my wisdom teeth out, and I'm so confused, because it was a…read moregenuinely fantastic experience. TL;DR - go here if you need extractions. I'm in my 40s and thought I was going to be in for a terrible time since I waited so long to get my wisdom teeth taken care of. Dr. Feldman and her team are great. Her office is super responsive and I didn't have to wait long for the surgery. Her new space in Arlington is beautiful. The procedure itself was a BREEZE. I opted to be completely sedated, so all I experienced was walking in, having a nice chat with the doctor, passing out, and waking up (happily?) with four fewer teeth. The worst part of the experience was the mouth gauze (ugh, gag), but I was able to ditch that pretty soon after I got home. BUT THE ICING ON THE CAKE: I work in a medical setting, and I know that drug protocols and pain control can make or break the immediate post-op experience for a patient. Homegirl has her drugs dialed in. I was *literally* pain free for the first 48 hours after the procedure. I had to remind myself to take ibuprofen regularly to keep the inflammation down, because I didn't need it for pain right away. YES, OF COURSE, it's not comfortable to have four bleeding holes in your mouth. But it's a heck of a lot more pleasant when the worst part of your recovery is pain free, and you only start to experience the discomfort when you're over the hump. Dr. Feldman takes what should be a terrible and traumatizing experience and turns it into something that's extremely manageable. I hope I never see her again, and I am also recommending her to everyone who has also procrastinated their dental care.

I was recommended Cambridge Smiles for their excellent bedside (chairside?) manner and quality of service. And after 3 visits now (2 of which were deep cleanings), I have to say they totally deliver. There's a cute doggy hanging out, there's good calming music. Good little bonus. I didn't get a lot of time with Dr. Sones, but she was able to answer my questions with detailed answers and charts. The majority of my time was spent with the hygienist, Trang. I can't stress enough how much I appreciated the level of professionalism. She checked in with me every step of the way, letting me know exactly what to expect and what each tool was for. She made sure the entire process rather pain-free and judgement-free. The work was careful and detailed. And, wow, what a world of difference all that makes. The results are (dare I say?) life changing. Already I feel a renewed sense of confidence, I feel like I can smile again without embarrassment. So... can't recommend it highly enough!

The attentiveness, the follow-through, the genuine care! I cannot say enough good things about these folks. I was blown away by how quickly I was seen here. I walked into this office with wisdom tooth area pain. While my partner is a patient with Cambridge Smiles, I had never been seen at this office prior to my dental emergency. I didn't know what to expect, but despite their full schedule they checked me out immediately (within the hour), and squeezed me in for an appointment that day. Dr. Tenorio made sure I got the medicine I needed to quiet the infection and deal with the immediate pain. Dr. Tenorio is the best dentist I have ever had, listening intently and carefully to my experience, and taking the time to really understand what I needed - not only to get me to a happy health outcome, but also to understand how I could be most comfortable in getting there. He explained to me that the infection makes for a "hot tooth" which not only means more pain due to the hyperactive nerves, but also makes my tooth environment acidic rendering the anesthetic (a weak base) largely inactive. So the plan was to take antibiotics for a few days, get the infection is below some threshold, and hopefully ensure my extraction was relatively painless. (It was entirely painless! Thanks Dr. Tenorio!) Dr. Tenorio's knowledge of dentistry is incredible and he took the time to explain everything that was going on, which was what I needed to be at ease. As a patient, I was given access to their office's 24 hour emergency dental line that would ring to the dentist even during off hours if I needed it. Dr. Tenorio also called to check in on my pain levels and progress as I was taking the antibiotic. Never in my life have I had a dentist this committed and attentive. My typical experience of medical care overall is that nobody cares about your health outcomes more than you, but my experience here in this situation is that maybe Dr. Tenorio does. He completely alleviated my near-term dental pain by changing up the schedule on which I was taking acetaminophin / ibuprofen and it was way more effective the way he suggested. When I had expressed a desire to get all the wisdom teeth I'd need out simultaneously (I had been hearing such scary stories of really tough painful extractions from friends and family and I really didn't want to do it twice) he referred me to a great oral surgeon he works closely with. I was scared of extraction though, so I didn't follow up with the oral surgeon. Dr. Tenorio and the office must have followed up with that other office, realized that I hadn't been scheduled, and called me to check in and see if I needed help with next steps. When the other dental surgeon didn't have any availability within the month to get both of my teeth removed simultaneously, Dr. Tenorio talked with me on the phone to help make a plan to get my immediate situation resolved. I ended up scheduling an extraction of just the affected tooth that week with Dr. Tenorio in the Cambridge Smiles office. By calling to check in again, he was also able to know that I had upcoming air travel which I didn't realize could be a risk for me immediately after extraction and he moved the schedule around to make sure I'd be good to go. Dr. Tenorio extracted my wisdom tooth, in the Cambridge Smiles office, under local anesthetic. He explained the technique he was going to use to lift the tooth using only hand implements (no drills!) and said that if there were any sign of complication risk he would stop rather than risk shattering the roots and making a mess of shards that would require complicated emergency dental work. I experienced no pain whatsoever during the extraction, and that's entirely because he was so sensitive to my experience. I was really nervous to have my wisdom tooth removed, I remember seeing people with swollen, bruised faces having later infections in the area of the tooth removal... but my experience was completely different. No pain, no visible swelling, no bruising, no complications whatsoever. My tooth came out intact in one piece within a few minutes, and all I felt was pressure - no pain at all! Dr. Tenorio explained how infection can cause gums to be inflamed and kind of loosen their hold on teeth for a time, which helped to make my extraction immediately post-infection particularly easy. I had my extraction on a Friday and Dr. Tenorio even called to check in on me over the weekend to see how I was feeling afterwords. At that point I was already feeling so much better! He had me scheduled for a follow up the next week just to make sure I was healing well and everything looked great and it really was. Thank you to Dr. Tenorio and the Cambridge Smiles team!

They have wonderful and cheerful staff. Dr. DerKazarian always explain you your options and give advice. Prices are very reasonable. I feel they guys do not have that many (and presumably) 5-star reviews because they do not keep asking about leaving good feedback like others. I rarely leave feedbacks. But here I did because I felt unfair that such excellent professionals have so few feedbacks.

I don't know why there aren't more reviews for Cambridge Periodontics! I guess because no one ever…read morethinks that writing reviews about the dentist is important and/or pleasant. I saw Dr Mark in June 2014 (I'm shamefully tardy writing this review) for a gum graft and he was amazing. Everyone in the office is very sweet, very helpful and puts you right at ease. I was probably the youngest person in the office and feeling a little defensive because of my dental history (eating disorder and then over-vigorous cleansing of the teeth). Dr Mark talked to me like I had a brain and explained to me how they do these long-term studies of dentists and this is the probability of this, etc. I was put totally at ease and I felt like I was informed and also respected as a patient which is tremendous at putting people at ease. The procedure was great (as great as a gum graft could possibly be!). I didn't feel anything, I remember maybe five minutes of it because of the sedatives, I listened to my iPod the entire time, I was totally chilled with the anxiety drugs they gave me to sedate me. Dr Mark is basically an artist, if you can say that about a Periodontist, he has a real gift. After the procedure, I went home and went to sleep for a few hours and then watched a million episodes of "Call the Midwife" and various shows I stocked-up on to watch while I convalesced. I was back at work a day earlier than anticipated and everything healed really nicely. The only thing that was rubbishy was the two weeks of ice cream, pudding, and soft things (it got old after about two days) and oh, not being able to kiss my fiance. :( During my follow-up, Dr Mark told me that there was one other area that he would probably do and if I decided to have it addressed I could just call and set up the graft, no evaluation necessary, because they had it in my record. (This may be helpful sooner than I want it to be! Ugh.) I thought that was so amazing because it really reduces my anxiety levels (waiting, waiting). They also have a "Call List" that is either automatic or they ask you if you want to be on it or you ask, one of those, and essentially Marie told me that pretty much everyone goes in long before their scheduled date. I went in on my actual date because the alternative time for me was my birthday (!). For some perspective, my evaluation was on April 1st, they had an opening on May 2nd. I don't know if that's on average, but I ended-up going in June 20-something because of scheduling issues. Insurance and everything was processed very quickly and everything but a very small portion was covered and I have pretty basic dental insurance through my employer. The office is located within walking distance of the Porter Square T stop. I walked to my evaluation and follow-up appointments (promising myself a quick detour at the local Paper Source if time permitted!) but my future mother-in-law drove me to the actual procedure.
