I get the Dave's special sub no onions and extra meat every time I stop in along with a few frozen sausage pizzas for another time. This last stop I see they may have changed owners and moved the order/checkout counter closer to the entry door. Cons: The location isn't great especially parking in their tiny parking lot or on the street. Stairs to get in with no handicap access. Moving the counter is an improvement, but the cold draft when someone opens the door in the frigid MN winter is not pleasant. And you don't get to watch them make the pizzas anymore. Excellent sub sandwiches. My MiL is from the area so we stopped by on the way back to the cities from international falls. When my partner said there's only one kind of sub I was so confused. Haha. My wife and I have been so busy preparing to move into our new house, sometimes it feels we forget that we need to sit down and eat too haha most places at this time we're closed, but thankfully Dave's was open. We saw a nice selection of their menu online. We decided to order a chicken Alfredo pizza with mushrooms on it and a pepperoni pizza for our son. As we were unloading some items into our new home it didn't take long before our delivery showed up and we're indulging into our fresh hot pizza. The pizza tasted delicious. Awesome Pizza. I would only suggest ordering it uncut because sometimes they add to much pizza sauce and it turns the crust mushy. The sauce leaks through the cut pieces as you bring it home. Cut it when you get home and it will be fine. read more

The Original Dave's Pizza recipe. I love their thin cracker crust pizza! Their sauce, their sausage, the Dave's Special. Our family must have eaten a hundred of them when we were kids. We used to be able to get it in Kenwood in Duluth, MN. Mom and Dad used to say "How would you like to have Dave's Pizza for Dinner tonight?" And 4 kids could sure make a lot of noise. This is has been a stop every year on our way home from Lake Vermillion. My friend introduced me to it 25yrs ago when we were teens and once I started bringing my own family "to the lake" they too became addicted. I only wish we had one in the Cities! Instead we buy three dozen frozen pizzas every summer and hoard them all year until we can restock again the next summer. This has ALWAYS been my favorite pizza in the whole world! Dave's Pizza has been the local favorite for over 40 years; this carry-out only pizza place is ALWAYS busy. Since I don't get up to Virginia much any more, my mouth waters just thinking about their pizza.....and their subs are the best ever as well-you don't order the ingredients you want on the sub, they only come one way-but they are the best, and wrapped in foil the way a sub should be.
