Vi's ended up being our favorite stop. We ordered a Sauerkraut Pizza for the first time, and it blew us away! The tangy Kraut with the rich cheese and perfectly greasy, flavorful crust was everything you want in a classic dive-style pizza. The cheese was great quality, the crust had just the right consistency, and the whole thing hit the spot after a long day outdoors. We also grabbed an order of onion rings, it was a massive portion, perfectly crispy! It was honestly shocking to find this level of quality so far away from the city. We sat at the bar with a friendly bartender and chatted with some locals playing pull tabs, which just added to the charm. Great food, great people, and exactly the kind of small-town gem you hope to stumble into while exploring.

The food was OK at the lodge restaurant. Although the chicken wings were a 5 the rest of the food was like an average run of the mill family dining. The bar and grill at the ski chalet was better food. Again the service was fast and friendly. We had the veggie pizza per the waitress recommendation and it was very good. Both bars have a good selection of craft beers on tap. Overall I'm giving it a 4 because service, beer selection, and the pizza. It would get a 3 if I only had eaten at the lodge.

As soon as you walk in, you get the old school pizza parlor. The first thing that gets you is the aroma of pizza, and it is so good you just know the pizza will taste great as well. We were greeted as soon as we walked in by someone in the open kitchen, told us to grab a menu and come back up when we were ready to order and sit anywhere. The dining room is small with several booths and there was a large group there that they pushed tables together to accommodate. They have a lot of great looking specialty pizzas but we did a build your own and even though it was just 2 of us, we got a 16 in so we would have leftovers to take home. It only took about 20 minutes for our pizza and it was everything I expected. Perfect crust, the sauce was fresh tasting and flavorful, and the toppings are tasty and generous. I think I would vacation in Two Harbors again just to get this pizza! If you are in the area, this is a must!

Cons: The location isn't great especially parking in their tiny parking lot or on the street. Stairs to get in with no handicap access. Moving the counter is an improvement, but the cold draft when someone opens the door in the frigid MN winter is not pleasant. And you don't get to watch them make the pizzas anymore. Unfortunately when I arrived there was no greeting from any of the numerous staff. The main lady was a bit short with me, (and I saw her be much shorter with other customers). They were really busy, so I can sympathize with the stress, but some more manners would have went a long way. Unfortunately my pickup time was 15 minutes later than the ETA I was given online. When it came to the pizza itself though, they really delivered! It's possibly the best BBQ Chicken pizza I've had, even though I was surprised by the inclusion of dill pickles.
