Single Slider (free promo; ~$8 regular price)
    Aya E.

Ordered: Single Slider (free promo; ~$8 regular price): chicken tender (medium heat) served on potato bun with kale slaw, pickles, and drizzled with Dave's sauce Small Top Loaded Fries (~$7): fries topped with cheese sauce, pickles, kale slaw and 3 Dave's Bites (mild heat) and a drizzle of Dave's sauce Aya's take: I love that for the past few years Dave's has been giving a free slider for Drake's birthday! Drake is an investor and supporter in Dave's Hot Chicken and I love that this is one way they give back every year. Not to mention, Drake is one of my favorite artists of all time and I'm a big fan of hot chicken so swinging by for lunch was a no brainer. I stopped by around 4pm right before the dinner rush when it got super crowded. On a day like this, they should have had more staff. Despite that, the workers were friendly, my order came out in about 10 minutes, and it was time to dig in. The Single Slider alone is pretty solid but I wanted something extra to make it feel like a proper meal. Their new Top Loaded Fries was just perfect! Considering Fries alone are $4; for an extra $3, you get some chicken bites & toppings, making this well worth it. The chicken tender was fresh, crispy, and tender. The medium heat was delicious and not overpowering. I liked it a lot better than the mild Dave's bites I got in the Top Loaded Fries. If I'm being picky, I would rather they chop up a tender onto the fries instead of bites. The pickles and kale slaw added that delicious crunch and freshness that cut through the fattiness of the meal. And overall, it was super filling & satisfying! My main complaint was that the line where people waited for their orders spilled over into the tables where people sit. It was distracting constantly having people stand around/over me or walk by back & forth. The table layout could definitely be optimized. As for the food, they're doing a great job and glad we have a location in Secaucus!

Appreciate the napkins but wet-naps would be way more practical here...

[Second visit ever to a Dave's, first time at this location.] Overlooking the absolute lunacy of how many people were coming and going into the Harmon Meadow complex early into a Saturday evening - we finally found a parking spot not too far away - and were excited to give this recently-opened Dave's a shot. A tight, focused menu. Seven levels of heat/spice. We all went with something different. My 'bites' were... not the best. I found myself biting into aggressively seasoned pieces of chicken that were oozing oil. Then I'd reach for a French fry that was... also seasoned to the hilt. With everything becoming very 'one note' my entire mouth is begging for some relief from the paprika-obsessed Dave's. So I'd have to alternate between a pickle slice or a nibble of the white bread that's "lining" the bottom of the tray. Both worked wonders and my taste buds were happy to get a reprieve every now and then. (And just to be clear: I only ordered 'mild' - it wasn't the spice-heat-level but just the sheer AMOUNT of seasoning/spices they applied to the food.) The restaurant has some cool graffiti on the walls but otherwise the place looks and feels a bit 'incomplete'. (The Mrs. was miffed they didn't offer ketchup.) Portions are no joke. Pricing was okay. Parking - it can be challenging, depending when you're here. It's amazing what $900 and a dream all the way over there in Los Angeles was able to accomplish now that Dave's has close to 300 locations scattered across this great land. (Although I'm not sure if we'll be coming back anytime soon.)

My family loves any Hot Chicken spot so they finally convinced me to try Daves Hot Chicken. Their newest location in Secaucus is really nice and bright! The dining area is pretty roomy. I love how the menus are displayed, so eye catching! The gentleman at the counter was so nice and helpful! I ordered the 2 pieces mild tender meal with fries. So for me the taste was just ok nothing amazing. The white meat chicken was tender but i dont know i wasnt wowed by it. Fries was good and plenty. I like that they give bread under the tenders. Im not sure if it was me or the food but the next day i was violently ill with stomach issues. So for me even if it wasnt the restaurant, i will always remember how i felt the next day so i think i will pass. But my husband and kids did enjoy their food and they were fine! Good to have more options in Secaucus!

    Topping containers as water cups.

I really wanted to like Dave's Hot Chicken in Secaucus, but the experience fell flat before I even got my food. They handed out water cups that were literally topping containers, which already felt careless and unprofessional. Then, before any food or service is even provided, they spin the screen around with preset tip options of 15%, 20%, and 25% for counter service. That alone tells me a lot about the management priorities. By that point, I was already turned off. Even if the food were great, the overall experience and attitude toward customers ruined it for me. Zero stars -- I won't be going back.

So happy they opened this 5 minutes away from me! Great timing, too. I'm bulking for the winter. FOOD: The 2 piece chicken tenders were slightly smaller than the ones I've had at the NYC locations but could probably just be the batch... The seasoning was all there! The chicken itself was cooked well--juicy & flavorful! The bread was bread. The fries were a little over-seasoned. Still good! LOCATION: The place is super clean and a lot bigger than the NYC locations, even though the decor brings me back. I went about an hour before closing and there was virtually no wait. SERVICE: The staff were very friendly! Even though they've had to deal with me right before closing, everyone was still sweet and happy to help. It took about 8-10 minutes for the food to be cooked, not too bad! 10/10 I wish I got a picture of the food, I was so damn hungry.

My first time trying Dave's. I got the cauli sliders and was pleasantly surprised. It was spicy but not too much to the point where you can't enjoy the flavor. Dave's also has the best sauce in the game. The coleslaw helps to cut the heaviness of the greasy sliders very well. My only issue was that the cauliflower options were not advertised on the big screen menu and the employees were confused at first. They also didn't understand the pricing when we asked and the cauliflower costs $6 more than the regular chicken sliders which is insane. It was nice to try but would not return.

I know there's a million Halal spots popping up, and I will admit I'm very, very picky when it comes to platters. I miss the good ol' days on 53rd street in NYC... I came by around 10pm and was served quickly by a friendly employee. They have platters, burgers, wraps, wings, chicken tenders, fries, etc. I ordered the chicken rice platter (~$13.50). They cook the meat fresh on the grill and then you choose your toppings at the salad bar (olives, onions, peppers, tomatoes, etc.). It's a bit pricier than other places, but the portion size is huge. The container felt HEAVY lol. It's just a shame it went to waste because I really didn't enjoy the food. I only finished about half of it before I tossed the rest. The white sauce was almost flavorless and was VERY watery. The chicken wasn't as well-seasoned. No distinct spices or aroma. Every bite left me with a very greasy and salty taste in my mouth. The side salad was just okay. I was disappointed. The only saving grace was the rice... it was fluffy and the best part of the whole platter. Not sure if I came on an off night or...? Don't let my review stop you from trying. It might just not be the Halal spot for me.

So naturally, had to check it out again this time and try it again. I don't know what it is, but well seasoned meat with their crispy fries just works. The original German doner kebab with the mixed beef and chicken was incredible. It was juicy, perfectly seasoned meat with that signature vertical spit char, loaded into their soft, flavorful handmade waffle-style bread. Every bite was a hit. Also ordered the chicken doner box with fries. The fries were very crispy and seasoned well and the chicken was just as I remembered it. A flavor bonanza. Rich, aromatic, and very delicious What was really the highlight was the sauces though. The garlic sauce was creamy and addictive, and the spicy one had just the right kick without overpowering everything. Portions are solid for the price. Everything felt fresh and hot, and the staff was super friendly and quick even during a busy mall rush. If you're at the American Dream or craving quality halal doner, this is the move. My friend and I found this spot nearby in North Jersey, and we had to give it a try. We stoped in on a Friday evening to a fairly busy restaurant. The owner acknowledged and greeted us immediately. The dining style is pretty casual where customers can sit at any open table. We were very glad to find Tahdig on the menu, since my friend had been wanting to try it for a while. The owner took our appetizer and entree orders promptly after bringing over some fresh bread. He was the only employee waiting all of the tables, and he did managed to provide excellent service. Our Tahdig came out first, topped with our choice of Gheimeh (beef and split pea stewed in tomato sauce). This my first time trying stew on top of Tahdig, and I was surprised at how well it complemented the dish. The crispy rice was cooked to perfection as well; the Tahdig far exceeded our expectations. The entrees came out shortly after the appetizer. My friend and I both ordered the Kabob Soltani, which comes with one skewer of Beef Kabob and one of Koobideh. Every component of the meal was perfect. The meat was flavorful and cooked to perfection. The Saffron Basmati came very close to what I've had on the West Coast. Even the salad veggies were perfectly fresh and crispy. We had an exceptional dining experience with excellent food quality and great service. Even though Kabob On The Cliff is quite a drive for both me and my friend, we'll definitely be back soon.

Crankiness aside... the fam decided to step outside of our comfort zone and try Persian food for the very first time. The restaurant - looks great inside (I've passed this place countless times over the years and don't think I even peeked inside). The gal behind the counter - could not be any nicer. The food - delicious, packed with flavor. My kids were baffled how proteins they're used to eating (beef, chicken) could taste so differently thanks to unique spices and whatnot. The meal came to about $20 per person (no drinks, just the entrée) and while the 'Kabob Koobideh' was a generous portion, the falafel sandwich (for $15) is wildly overpriced (it's about $10 from Greek Town right across the street, never mind about $8 from Mamoun's just about two minutes away over on Rt. 17N). Happy to have tried it, would come back (while grumbling about the cost under my breath because I'm a crabby old man).

Lahore is a Pakistani restaurant which is honestly not common to come across (compared to Indian restaurants). The interior is nicely decorated and we were seated immediately. We got 2 appetizers, Aloo Papri Chaat and Gol Gappay. The Aloo Papri Chaat was cold, loaded with textures and flavors, and even some slight sweetness. It was enjoyable but not sure I would gravitate to this again. The Gol Gappay was beautifully presented with a similar flavor profile to the Aloo Papri Chaat. It's great for sharing and more of a playful appetizer. I've never had Karahi before and although maybe not the traditional version, we opted for the White Chicken Karahi. It was mild, savory and creamy. It took ~30 minutes to prepare as the menu states and they don't skimp out on the chicken. For the price point, I would say the portion is reasonable. The chicken was tender, buttery, and aromatic. My only complaint is that it wasn't served with anything so we had to add some Basmati Rice and Tandoori Roti on our own dime. I think it should come with at least one complimentary side dish considering it's an entree. We ended with a Kashmiri Chai. It's a pink-hued tea that actually gets its color from the chemical reaction between the green tea & baking soda. All this time, I thought it was rose! It was garnished with pistachios and had hints of cardamom and cinnamon spices which I enjoyed. Good try overall!

It's unfortunate that I have to post this as I feel despite us voicing our concern (multiple times) in person with the staff and also on the phone when ordering take out, the staff is not trained and do not take certain dietary restrictions seriously such as food allergies. After having a child who suffers from peanut and egg allergies, whenever we have dined or ordered from here as of lately, we have politely asked for certain food not to be served together and prepared properly. After expressing this, the staffs answer is rude and with an attitude and us being told "ok i'll just put it in a separate plate" after it being cross contaminated and served. Then during a take out order when we called to alert that there is an allergy, to please ensure the food is properly handled and packed separately from egg-containing items, we were told (specifically by Jaspreet) it is already prepared and packed, so the best that can be done is taken out and packed separately instead of adhering to the urgency of the matter and re-preparing the food. Our child broke out in hives due to their negligence in the past and I fear that their inefficiency to understand the seriousness of this matter will one day result in legal action being taken against this establishment if God forbid someone else has a reaction or worse a Fatality. My post isn't intended towards the quality of the food, it is more so to be heard and create awareness on this matter as it seems this establishment can care less towards your health needs. Update: We were contacted by ownership (Ishrath) and accused of being in the wrong and were met with disrespect and advised not to come to this establishment anymore as they cannot meet our "crazy demands." We should have been heard out, which was explained to co-ownership (Sobia) a few minutes after my review was posted, that this wasn't a personal jab towards the establishment however has happened to us on multiple accounts, specifically from staff member Jaspreet the past two times in a matter of two weeks. There was no apology on the matter, just defensiveness in a "sweet tone." This is more so a validation that despite us voicing our concerns multiple times in person, it has fallen on deaf ears and it is unfortunate that we have had to go to such extremes as posting this to be heard. Since my post, we see the attempt to have our post buried, and quite frankly hope it made a difference, albeit they have lost our business however we know the restaurant will still thrive. Still wishing them the best of luck and hopefully prevents any future consequence on this matter.
