I was excited to try the new hot mozzarella and it did not disappointed! These were thick planks of good quality mozzarella, deep fried and tossed in whichever spice level your little heat desires. I could eat them plain and be just as happy. My service was alright, but the rest of the group were not happy about theirs. Some strange and judgmental looks were exchanged. They were also a bit pushy when it came to purchasing drinks. Both of our cashiers asked at least 3 times if we wanted drinks and then acted like us getting water was an abomination. It's super close to the Altamonte Mall so we made both stops on the same trip & made a day out of it since we live decently far away. The interior is funky with lots of fun graffiti artwork on the walls. You order at a counter and then find a seat and they call your name. My husband and I both got medium spice chicken with fries and we shared a mac & cheese. With drinks it's around $15 per person for a decent portion of food. The medium spice chicken isn't too spicy, which makes sense since they have a few levels of spice above that as well. The tenders are huge, very meat, and juicy. They were perfectly fried to perfection and seasoned very well with their dry rub. The hot flavor is good if you like a kick, I definitely could've went hotter to extra hot, so I'll give that a go next time. The sauce is good, it's a creamy mayo chipotle based sauce that compliments that fries and tenders. The fries were evenly coated and well seasoned. I really do like that the menu is pretty simple with 4 main choices with additional sides and desserts. It all happened in one week... First, a buddy of mine texted me a picture of his sandwich from Dave's Hot Chicken.. captioned "BROHHHH !!! Second another buddy of mine sent me a social media link of this place. Third another buddy of mine coming back from Orlando sent me a pic of his sandwich, urging me to try this place out. That is all she wrote. So during Spring Break, Dave's Hot Chicken was on my go-to list. And I already knew what I wanted to order, THE 2 Sliders Meal. Heat level, I ordered the HOT. Then it was a waiting game. The waiting gave me enough time to check out the art on the walls, an artsy ambience. When I finally received my order, I couldn't wait to take my first bite. What a big mistake. First bites in, despite the sandwich being temperature hot, plus the combination of the heat of the spice sent my palate screaming like a mutha. Had me believing that the Devil made sandwich. It was HOT AF. But I couldn't stop chewing even when I started to sweat from the heat. The spices slapping my senses and tongue. IT WAS SO GOOD. I will preface this review with this: I'm a BIG fried chicken gal - a connoisseur if you will. And I've had my fair share of Nashville hot chicken. So bare this in mind as I give my feedback For me, a good fried chicken has the following: it's a meaty, crispy fried, tender white meat chicken, and well seasoned. The worst fried chicken in my opinion is skimpy/thin, lacks seasoning, and is crispy and DRY. Now, onto the review. On my first visit to Dave's hot chicken, I didn't know what to expect from the spice level, so I went with light-mild seasoning. I honestly thought I could have gone hotter, and maybe this would have added to the experience a bit more. The chicken was well-seasoned (and the fries on the side), and it was a fairly meaty chicken breast, with the perfect crispy crust. The Dave's sauce was decent, but didn't stand out compared to other similar sauces you find at other chain fried chicken joints. I'm a big sauce gal, so the fact that the only offered their signature sauce, ketchup, and honey was a tad disappointing. But I did lather up the chicken with honey and it definitely helped! If you like dry-rub fried chicken, then this is your spot. If you're a saucy queen like me - then I would either ask for extra Dave's sauce for the milder sando's, or up the heat and add some honey! This is a nice little chicken sandwich shop. The location is super cute and the staff are nice. I ordered the #2, my husband got the extra hot and I got the medium. The sandwich wasn't labeled so I took a small bite of the extra hot and boy do I regret it. My mouth was on fire. My husband was sweating through the entire sandwich but he said it was good. I love their signature sauce that they put on the sandwiches and the slaw is soooooo good! I liked their pickles too. I've had a lot of cheese fries from burger/chicken shops in orlando and this has to be the best I've had. It has the little spice to it, but it isn't spicy. My son liked the Mac and cheese. I arrived at suppertime and walked right up to the counter to order Dave's #1, two tenders, crinkle fries, pickles, and Dave's special sauce to-go. Having done my homework, I chose medium heat so I could enjoy the taste. Then the wait began, but only long enough for me to walk around the fairly empty interior and sit down to check-in on Yelp. The service was fast! The tenders and fries were still hot when I opened the to-go container, and my first bite made me happy with my choice. The chicken meat was moist, tender, and tasty. The medium spice level enhanced the great flavors of Dave's seasoning. The fries were a pleasant surprise since they held their firmness and flavor through my meal. I opted to eat the pickles by themselves since I love dill pickles, and I tried the sauce with a few bites of the tenders. The tenders by themselves were good enough to satisfy my curiosity and confirm what i read from other Yelp reviewers. Four stars for the amount of food and the customer service! While the chicken was overall pretty ok, I got one mild and one medium-- you couldn't really tell the difference between the two. My bf got no spice and he stated that there wasn't any flavor at all. The food was prepared pretty quickly, and the person who served us was so polite and explained the menu to us. The restaurant was PACKED when we arrived around 930pm, but we were in and out in about 10 mins. I recommend eating at the restaurant, though. I stopped by the restaurant for lunch on Tuesday, December 13, 2022. The Altamonte Springs site is the second location for the California-based chain in the Orlando area, the first being in Waterford Lakes. This location has ample indoor and outdoor seating and was kept meticulously clean and organized. Even though I'm not a fan of spicy food, Dave's chicken can be calibrated to your level of heat tolerance...from No Spice to Reaper. I chose a Lite Mild heat so I could experience a spice sensation without ruining my enjoyment of the meal. I opted for Dave's #2 which consisted of two sliders and crinkle-cut fries. My meal was brought out by Patrick who was friendly and accommodating and is a true asset to the brand. As to the food, the sliders were tender, moist and comprised of LARGE pieces of chicken. One slider could certainly be a filling meal unto itself. The sliders came with kale slaw, pickles and Dave's Sauce (a mixture of chipotle sauce and mayonnaise). This was truly a delicious and tasty chicken sandwich. The crinkle-cut fries, not to be outdone, were prepared perfectly with a nice crunch and a light and fluffy interior. I opt for the 2 tenders with medium spice. I didn't know their spice level so opt for the medium. Medium tasted like a mild to me, so next time I will try the Hot level. Time for lunch! I've been wanting to try Dave's since it opened. I ordered the Dave's #3: 1 Tender & 1 Slider w/ Fries with cheese on the slider. My tender was lite mild and my slider tender was mild with Dave's sauce on the side and honey. The mild lite definitely has a kick to it but was good. I couldn't really bite into the slider because the batter was kind of thick and crispy. Overall I would give it an 8/10 just because of how the chicken was a tad bit over cooked. Opening day! First time at a Dave's Hot Chicken! Everyone was super nice and they have some pretty awesome graffiti art in the walls depicting Altamonte:) I won't spoil it for you. But definitely walk around and check it out. You'll get a little chuckle if you are from this area. This restaurant is located where the old World of Beer was on the corner. They have outdoor and indoor seating. Pets are allowed outside by the way:) I got #3 which was a slider and a tender heat level hot. The crinkle cut fries are delicious and well seasoned. I demolished the entire meal! Pickles and kale slaw on the slider with Dave's Sauce is a winner. Levels go from no spice level to Reaper level. So I of course got an extra tender with the Reaper Level of spice. It didn't disappoint:) It's not the hottest hot chicken I've ever had, but it definitely gets you sweatin' Portions are just right and they have Coke Zero:) My favorite! OMG! I can't believe they've opened a Dave's hot chicken in central Florida! The last time I tried Dave's hot chicken was in Houston Texas, and it was the best chicken sandwich I've ever had! My partner and I came and we decided to get the two chicken sliders meal and added a side order of fries. We put the spice level to hot, and trust me it was hot! They had a huge sign at the front so you would not miss it even if you were driving past. The restaurant was very clean and they had both indoor and outdoor seating. The staff was extremely attentive. We told them this was our first time at this location and they gave us a great rundown of the menu. They have milkshakes but the only flavors they have are vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate. I wish they had cookies and cream. We didn't have to wait long to get our food. My partner was so glad that he ordered an extra side of fries because the side of fries that comes with the two sliders was very small. I asked for honey but I don't think the server remembered but it's OK because the sandwich was still a 10 out of 10! I ran across a random Instagram post showing the grand opening of Dave's Hot Chicken. I figured that it's Friday night and I want to try something different and good. So why not? When I pulled up I can see people in waiting all the way to the door but in was commuted on trying this chicken spot and I was not disappointed. We love DHC! The tenders/sliders are generous and delicious and you can get them at any heat level you want. Keep in mind the heat levels are bumped up by 1 maybe a little more. Mild=medium Med=hot... you get the idea. We decided this time we were gonna try the "Top loaded" shake and it left a lot to be desired. Melted and where th are the m&m's??!! Top loaded my .
