My dad is famous for finding a good restaurant and only eating there for several months. Well, La Granja is one of those places! It has been on his top 5 for a few years now and I don't mind it. First time I ever had it was with him and I loved it. This location has a drive thru so it makes it convenient for a quick dinner or even lunch! I love ordering the chicken with two sides and I add tostones because they always make them fresh! I have tried their fried yuca as well and it's also one of my favorite things on their menu. It tastes like a French but thicker. I highly recommend trying them, if you haven't. My dad always orders the steak with two sides and eats every piece of it. The restaurant has great pictures of the food all around. The food left me feeling sad I had spent money on it. I ordered the white meat chicken with black beans and yucca. I also ordered a side of plantains. The chicken, although having great flavor,iwas almost inedibly dry. The beans had very little flavor and the plantains were on the verge of burnt. Upon placing my order, of the white meat chicken meal and plantains on the side, the staff seemed confused. Then I was presented with a plate with beans,, rice, yucca and dark meat chicken. When I said the order was wrong the man took the plate turned around and handed it to the cook. When the cook went open the steamer for the chicken the man said no and said something I could not hear. Then I asked where the plantains were they looked confused. They did give me an order of plantains after I complained. My drink that came with my meal had a musty taste reminiscent of mold in the lines. This place missed the mark for me. I went through their drive thru for a later dinner than normal. The steak was very thin and very overcooked. It was chewy and hard to eat. The plantains were mushy and the rice was cold. You can tell from the picture that my food doesn't look like any of their other pictures. Prices weren't cheap either. La Granja offers Peruvian chicken and other dishes and while I would classify it as definitely a casual type place, the food here is definitely solid. My primary go-to here is their chicken and usually I go with their half chicken with rice and beans. Though they do offer a full menu, chicken is definitely their specialty. I first discovered La Granja when I stumbled across their Fort Pierce, Florida location while riding my motorcycle home from a trip down to South Florida probably over ten years ago. I was happily surprised when I found out they have a location here in Orlando. They have since grown quite a bit in the Orlando area, which is good news for the populace here. La Granja is nothing fancy, in fact it more resembles a fast-food type place (I guess the trending term woukd be fast casual restaurant), but the food is still pretty solid. Pricing is very good, as well. It is good to see that this chain restaurant which is strongest in South Florida is beginning to grow up here in the central Florida area. If you are a fan of Peruvian chicken, or even if you are a fan of roasted chicken, I would definitely recommend this location or any location for that matter of LA Granja. As I said, nothing fancy, but they make some fine food that will definitely have you smiling and will have your soul smiling, as well. La Granja can go head to head on the basis of their food with far more expensive places and will come out ahead. Their chicken is simply that good. This a place I order from on the regular, so I'm in shock with the customer service. I called them because they messed up my Uber eats order (spicy fish Camaron ). I wanted rice, but instead I got salad and tostones. I was trying to either switch it out or order rice, but instead they put the phone down and then moments later hang up. I called back to which they answer and hang up, I call once again and they pulled the phone line. Also messed up our drink order peach instead of passion fruit. I got my food from the drive thru. It was quick, fresh, and delicious. The price was awesome, only $6.75 for quarter chicken, black beans, and rice. I purchased a drink to go with it. So in all it was under $10. The black beans taste like they were slow cooked with love. I will be back for sure and get food for the family. Love stopping by for a filling meal at a great price. I always get the grilled chicken with white rice. They give you two sauces to go, red and white. The red is a little spicy and my favorite. Ordered their sautéed chicken breast with black beans and rice. YUMMERS! About a 5-7 minute wait for freshly cooked food. Beautiful presentation and legit utensils. Like not plastic, but real, stainless steel utensils. Food was bursting with flavor, steaming hot and my stomach and taste buds were happy. Definitely visiting again!! My husband brought the boys and I here over the weekend. The service is fast and you get quite a bit of food for your money. The place had a good crowd eating as well as a steady flow of people coming in to order. We ordered a full chicken with a side of rice, beans and plantains. I believe we spent less than 25 dollars for it all. We still had a bunch of rice leftover. It was well worth it. At the tables, they put out hot sauce, garlic sauce and a vinaigrette. At the front you can get ketchup and mayo and there is a small side bar with different "salsas". I'd definitely come back and try some of their seafood dishes. You can easily get two full meals out of one plate. Some plates have the lunch portion which is a little cheaper and smaller if you aren't feeling too hungry. The food is delicious. They also have amazing sauces you can add to your food at the tables and at the bar area. I highly recommend you try several. The only reason I am not giving this place 5 stars is because one of the workers asked for us to leave a tip at the table. Several of the people from our party had already left money in the tip jar already. And frankly, asking for a tip for clearing a table is a little ridiculous. This place is great for an inexpensive meal that is quite good and good quality. My mother's friend ordered the chicken fajita and it looked delicious. It's also an incredibly generous portion! I had the Churrasco steak and it was good, but it isn't the highest quality cut of meat, so it was a little hard to chew for my personal liking. However, the pickled onions on top gave it such good flavor!! I also enjoyed the garlic onions that they have at the sauce bar and it really amped up the flavor of the black beans and rice. The rice, which could have been a little bit more soft, in my opinion. My mother had the grilled chicken with onions and tomatoes on top with plantains and fries. The fries came out very hot but weren't cooked well done enough for either of our liking. Also, the plantains were hard and definitely not greasy and crispy enough on the outside or soft inside. I know, who wants more grease? Yeah, well I do when it comes to plantains! The restaurant is what seems to look like an old Taco Bell, and I honestly felt like I was in a Breaking Bad episode. I almost didn't eat here because the other reviews make this place look like a hideous rat infested crap hole with delusions that it actually serves something similar to food. There were three types of sauces on the table including the garlic for the friend yuca. Also included was a hot sauce and a tomato based sauce. They also had chunky sauces over near the soda dispenser which was flavorful. By the time I got my drink I had my meal ready for me. The yuca took a little longer but they brought it out to my table for me. The chicken was cooked perfectly. Moist and tender. The seasoning on the outside was awesome but I don't eat the skin so I only tasted a little. The yuca was awesome. The beans and rice were good. The plantains weren't sweet like I am used to but they were acceptable. The employee busting tables was good and when I got up to get a drink refill he almost took all my stuff off the table and dumped it. Lucky for me he was watching the football game instead of his job, but it ended up ok. I liked this place. It reminded me of Pollo Tropical but with a different flair. The staff was good, the price was good, the flavor good, the whole experience was good and I'm not sure why so many negative ratings for this place. I recently had lunch at La Granja with fellow Yelper Michelle M C after we finished up at work. In the past I have enjoyed this place for lunch by using their drive through. But I thoroughly enjoyed the dine in experience. Michelle asked about the specials and after a while I decided on a steak lunch and a bread pudding sort of dessert. The stir fry meat was super tasty and I added a garlic Sauce on my rice that was delicious. The bread pudding was also really good.
