Broke down on SW 8th St. Called a shop just a couple of blocks away. Said he would be there in 5 minutes. An hour later, no show. Called several other shops in the area and Dave's said he would work on it right away. Tow truck showed quickly and Dave had my alternator installed, checked, test driven in short order. This guy here is very unprofessional. @ first I liked him I've been coming here for a while. But things weren't getting done. Broken promises, and he lets emotion get the best of him. Everytime we go there and I'm sure everyone else that's used his service has seen, that he tells you one thing and then your now coming out with a higher bill then was told before. I came in for a problem with my truck and paid 1k for something he "thought" , it still had the same problem and he was already paid, I was told he'd take care of it and handle it. But he did not care , he figured since he was paid already it's not his problem apparently! I kept repeating in text to him I want my moneys worth, I came for a problem and still have it going on , it's YOUR JOB the profession YOU chose, I then went to go pickup my car and he told me he doesn't like being talked that way and to get in my car and go and he never wants to see me again. I found it funny a grown man chose to let his emotions get the best of him. I've always found it skeptical yet I kept coming here because my family uses this guy all the time. the first time I brought it back and my car still having the same problem, he did a oil change because he said the oil was very dirty and disgusting which it could've been, and said that it could be the issue of power outage, he told me he'll do another oil change after and see how it is. Today is the day I brought it back, as you see in the message he said he'd do the oil and I get back and check it and my oil is empty now. So is my gas, This guy is a joke. My mom even had her car there for 3 weeks! And the whole time he's been "waiting" on parts he went ahead and told her it was the pump for hers yet her car is still having the same issues even after replacing what he said it was. So as mine. I brought it there the first time working driving and next thing you know it wasn't driving @ all and he told me I needed to get that changed. Never even got the original problem I was there for fixed .. it amazes me how people like this are still around. Then again all mechanics are most likely not even trusted and this guy is one definitely one of them. I will be suing if any changes to my car is noticed. Dave was recommended to me by the dealer where I have been buying cars for 30 years. I cannot thank him enough for the suggestion. Dave told me to contact Ford to see if they would do the expensive repair of replacing the third evaporator in six years. When they would not even respond I told Dave to replace it. He had it ready in four days, Ford evaporator, car washed, inside as clean as I left it, and a year warranty. The bill was considerably less than a dealership and my wife and I are extremely happy campers. Would I recommend Dave? We drove from Miami(40 plus miles) and I would drive from Jacksonville if I have another car problem. read more

There are certain things that are always difficult to find and a foreign car mechanic is one of them when fairly new in town. Dave was referred to us by a floor contractor - as a side note! Word of mouth is ALWAYS the best! Folks please note it is a MECHANIC shop so don't wear anything fancy even to walk and talk with Dave! Small shop 3 -4 bays... And they are all full! Pricing: exceptional! I had a oil change and fluids filled and a basic inspection and it was less than $100 for a BMW. I discovered Dave's shop through my husband when we started dating 20 years ago. We currently own BMWs, once our warranty and extended warranties ran out we've been bringing our cars here ever since. He is honest from our experience. He lets us know our options and has fair prices. There were times I thought I needed major work he let us know it was not the worst case scenario. I just came home from a very unfortunate experience at DAVE'S AUTO, NE 5th Ave, Pompano Beach, FL. This auto repair shop was highly recommended. In fact, the auto that I brought in for service, had been previously serviced by DAVE'S AUTO less than one year ago for the same A/C issue.. I requested a freon charge-up, and was told that a check up was in order to locate the problem, and would be given an estimate for potential repair costs. Understandable. I received a call from Dave's receptionist to inform me of a $800. plus repair. I asked that DAVE call me so I could discuss the job. I received another call from the receptionist, explaining that DAVE was too busy to call me, but he could now do the job for about $525. with no guarantees that the A/C would work. I told the receptionist I really needed to speak with the mechanic (Dave) regarding the job. Since he was too busy to call me, I will not be having the work done, and I would come to the garage to pick up my car. When I arrived, I was given a $59. bill for my estimate. I was also told that the mechanic put freon into my A/C system, and when I did not accept the estimate for the work, he then removed the freon from the A/C system! (A freon charge-up was what I originally asked for!). Still charging me $59 for just an estimate. I paid the $59. (I wanted the keys to my car returned to me!) On my way out of the office, the mechanic (Dave) met me by one of the auto bays. He asked me what's my problem! He re-iterated that he was too busy to call a customer to discuss the job. When I challenged his customer practices, he became incensed and told be get out......and with much agitation said, "you're the one with the problem here".....and "get off my property, and I don't want your business"! Well Dave, I don't see that as being an problem..........and so much for a good recommendation!! But here's a message to your customers, both current and future.........be careful when challenging this owner...you may be very surprised at his response! read more

I have used Dave for the past twenty years or more. First, when he was with Bob's Automotive (not sure the name is correct) on Dixie Highway until the present, now at his own shop. His prices are the fairest and he is the most honest and friendly business owner I know. His shop can fix almost everything with an engine. In a few cases where a fix didn't work, he kept at it until the problem was solved. He does work for many city employees and a few car dealers. The shop is a little difficult to find if you are new. It is on a small street between East and West Dixie Highway, one block south of 3rd St. in Pompano Beach. Oh, he now sells tires, too. read more

I had a problem with my starter today, and the Triple A got it to start enough so I could drive it to Dave's. I had no appointment, and the shop was snowed under. I was supposed to meet workers at my home to finish up a lengthy job, and I was desperate because they were waiting. He got to the job in a couple of hours, balancing multiple jobs and walk-ins. While he is a great mechanic and treats his customers well, the man has NO ethics when it comes to treating his employees! Having hired a friend of mine to do a specific job for a fair amount of money, he changed the hours, changed the job, broke promises and finally, just before Christmas hired someone else without any notification after telling this person not to come in as "it's really slow". His mechanics are treated the same way. I know of one who is such a nice young man who has gone back to school. As soon as he's done, he's out of there! He's lost my business for sure! I brought in my 2002 Isuzu Rodeo prior to purchasing it to see if it was mechanically good. Dave told me that it needed approximately $450.00 worth of work. I purchased it with the knowledge that I was told it would only need $450.00 worth of work. NOT TRUE it cost me $976.00 and the work was not right and now I have to do all the work that Dave's Automotive claim to have done all over again somewhere else. He claimed to have changed out the EGR and I had to bring the car back 5 times and the light still comes on. He said he changed the valve cover gaskets, yet the car still leaks and I brought it back and he said he replaced them again, but the dirt around the gaskets was still there and could not have been replaced within 30 minutes and they are still leaking. I brought a mechanic to his shop to tell him that it was still leaking and that it needs to be replaced and Dave replied "take that shit somewhere else and cursed us out". He also supposedly replaced the shift shaft cable and seals, yet I am still having trouble with that too. I took my car to two independent shops and they both said that the work was NEVER done. Now I am out not only $976.00, but I called Dave again and he said he would not do ANYTHING to fix my car that I already paid for. I will be seeing Mr. Dave Gillon in court, and I have pictures to show the proof that the work was never done! Beware ladies and elderly, he claims to do the work, but just charges you for it and won't actually do the work that he claims to have done and that you paid for!!! read more
