Dave the Kitchen Guy did an excellent job of making my cabinets look like new--actually they look better than many of the new cabinets I saw when I thought I had no choice but to buy replacements. My painting contractor recommended Dave, and Dave broke down for me the many step process they use to refinish the cabinets--much more involved than just painting them! His crew also left my place spotless after they finished. I highly recommend Dave & his team. read more

Got the guy out through a referral. At first things looked good - unfortunately within a week or so of use, paint started peeling off cabinets. Guy tried to play it cool, and busy and promised to show up but never did. Months of emails and calls led to no response or call back. It's a small world in real estate, and eventually things catch up in the Chicago marketplace read more

Dave was amazing to work with! I had a vision of our old cabinets being modernized and painted white and Dave was able to talk me through what would look best, what hardware he recommended, and every step of the process. He also painted a door in our kitchen to match the cabinets and did a fantastic job as it was a very old door and certainly a tough project! He was communicative throughout the process and was able to get our kitchen done in a timely manner. It looks great and we are so happy we worked with Dave! read more

When you pay someone $2000 to refinish your cabinets, you expect them to sand them, paint them, and return them looking new no dents or chips. You also expect them to finish the job and painting right? That's not what happened with working with Dave. Not only did it take from April to end of July for him to "not finish" our cabinets, he wouldn't show up, would cancel, wouldn't respond to us. Besides that, I'm finishing the painting myself, as he didn't complete the job when we asked him numerous times to come complete. We may have a smaller kitchen but that doesn't mean we don't expect the same service and outcome that you spend on your bigger kitchens. Your service is unprofessional, terrible product and outcome, and the fact that you didn't even finish is infuriating. We even installed our own hardware. Do yourself a favor and don't pick Dave. He wasn't timely and fed us excuses with "I'm so busy". Like we said, if your too busy then turn down the job instead of doing a partial job leaving customers upset with unfinished product. Things started out great, though there were some bumps in the road with scheduling. We all have things happen with our kids, and how was I supposed to be angry when he said he wasn't happy with the paint job and wanted to make it perfect. Ok, I guess I will have to wait and take more time off work to be home. Once everything was installed there were still touch ups and a missing drawer handle. While he says he's not satisfied until it's perfect and he's always available, he took a long time to return and fInish the final details. Once complete, it looks fantastic! read more

We recently bought our first condo which was in need of a kitchen refresh. Dave gave us a really fair quote and based on his previous work and reviews it was a no-brainer to work with him. Dave had the project started within a week of the quote and completed it in about three weeks. We had some nasty build up on a number of the cabinets which caused his team headaches and delayed completion for a bit, but they turned out great and Dave eased our frustrations like a pro. We're next looking to refresh our bathroom cabinets and would not hesitate to use Dave again! read more

Dave is courteous, professional, an expert in his field, and invested in completing your project to exceed your expectations. He completed my cabinets in a perfect greige and our island in chatura grey. They look brand new and the newly installed hardware is gorgeous. To top it off, his crew painted our kitchen as well. What a package. See for yourself in the before and after pictures. Oh, and did I mention he worked into the night the day before Thanksgiving to ensure my kitchen was stunning for my family gathering. Can't wait for our next project!!! We were debating on getting new cabinets or painted the current ones we had and after talking to Dave, he endured us that he could do the job that we wanted by taking the doors and drawers to his shop and spraying them professionally so that there wouldn't be any peeling ever. His guys were great and painted the island on site and professionally taped it up along with our halls as to keep the dust out of the other parts of the house ( thank you Sergio). Dave has a great team and I'd recommend his company any day. I'm fact, they are doing our master bath next! read more

Dave and his team were exceptional to work with throughout our renovation process. We bought our condo and had a 30 day overlap with our lease, knowing we wanted to get a number of things done, a few being painted kitchen cabinets and the entire unit. During my research prior to closing, I found that Dave's cabinet refinishing pricing was very competitive but what really sold me was the time he spent on the phone explaining the process and his eagerness to make sure I was comfortable. Dave sold me, and his great pricing was just an added value. Dave and his crew were in the unit two days after closing taking the kitchen cabinet doors/drawers off and I ended up using his referenced team to paint the entire place head to toe. Our entire unit has been transformed and feels updated, warm, and welcome. Great communication along the whole process. If you're looking to get your cabinets redone, don't hesitate to reach out! But schedule accordingly. Dave is always busy and there's definitely a valid reason why! read more

I'll cut to the chase- Dave and his guys do amazing work. Here's the back story- My wife and I moved to a bright new condo in Wicker Park. We loved the look of the place but absolutely hated the lime green cabinets that one of the prior owners installed. These weren't ordinary cabinets either- they were expensive European style cabinets made out of a unique melamine material. While highly functional, the color literally burned my retinas on a daily basis. After searching Chicagoland for weeks looking for someone who new how to work on this complex material, we found Dave. Dave gave me an impressive science lesson on how to work with this material and days later his crew was in here working on it. The team was timely, courteous and meticulous throughout the process. The end result was transformational- a night and day difference. Look at the pictures to see the difference. This also saved us tens of thousands of dollars that would have otherwise gone towards a larger remodel to replace the green monster. Highly recommend Dave for your next project. read more

Dave did an exceptional job with our kitchen cabinet project. He created a custom white to match our white crown moulding that had aged a bit, helped me select the perfect color for our other cabinets and was helpful with how to go about selecting hardware. He also recommended we go ahead and get new countertops which we did and it looks like an entire new kitchen. The quality of the cabinets and the painting is outstanding, the attention to detail by Dave and his entire crew was fantastic. Dave's knowledge of colors and the professionalism of his crew cannot be beat. Can't wait to use Dave on another project. read more

DON'T BELIEVE A WORD THIS MAN SAYS. The entire project was a fiasco. Dave missed every deadline and broke every promise. I asked several times for a painted door sample so that I could approve the final color choice. He never delivered, just sent his crew to start the job. My cabinets started CHIPPING one month after they were painted. After numerous unreturned phone calls, he finally promised to come back and touch them up. He never did - and they're only getting worse. He overbooks, he's dishonest, and he never provided a written warranty. read more

Dave the Kitchen Guy and Lalo's Painting service: ... An AMZAZING and AFFORDABLE QUALITY SERVICE I ended up having several estimates to pick from and decided to choose "Dave The Kitchen Guy", because Dave impressed me with his demeanor - he is open, honest, and helpful in explaining the process that they have to do for a professional and quality job in painting kitchen cabinets. Choosing Dave's service allow me to pick the best product and service to fit my budget and lifestyle. The quote that Dave gave me was very reasonable, compared to all other highly priced estimates. Dave The Kitchen Guy team did an excellent job in making my 30-year OAK dark kitchen cabinets, guest 1/2 bathroom cabinet and the mini bar cabinet look new and with a white modern style, avoiding me on having to expend thousands of dollars for a modern and low-quality wood kitchen cabinets. Dave's team came and picked all the doors and drawers so they can be worked at their shop (sand and painted), while the shop worked on the doors and drawers, Dave promised to send me his best painter "LALO" to work on the cabinets in my kitchen. Lalo worked fast, cautiously and he was very neat in delivering a high-quality painting job of all cabinet frames, I have to say, I was very pleased with Lalo's professionalism and focus on quality and customer satisfaction. I was so happy with Dave's and Lalo's work that I have invited my neighbors to see the final product and have recommended their service to my neighbors in Naperville, IL. In addition to my Kitchen cabinets, I have asked Dave if they can paint my old brown dinette table and 6 chairs(bar height) to match the white kitchen cabinets, and he did not hesitate to again assign Lalo and his team to take care of this new request. Wow! once again Lalo and his team, did an amazing job painting my dinette table and 6 chairs, they all looked brand new and do an excellent match to the newly painted white kitchen cabinet. With NO hesitation, the next time I need some painting on cabinets or home painting done, I will call Dave and Lalo, and look no further!"... I'll give them 5 out of 5 stars, very well deserved.... Dave's team are total pros having worked through our project during COVID. Their customer service on asks were excellent (we had a bunch) and they left no detail undone. Sergio did a fantastic job with great attention to detail re: symmetry of cabinets, safety and working with us on color match. Wow!!! Dave's team completely blew away my expectations! The pictures do not even capture the level of detail and care they put into my kitchen and entire project! I am very detail-oreintieted, and they exceeded my expectations. Sergio took such care with removing and labeling my existing doors. Edwardo and Mario worked on my kitchen and wainscoting and I couldn't have been happier with their professionalism, craftsmanship, and they were just overall very polite, trustworthy people! True artists! In my project, I kept my existing cabinets in my kitchen, and added custom RTA (from Barker Cabinets online) cabinets. I also added wainscoting throughout my house (Thank you, Dad!) and had all of that plus my laundry room cabinets refinished with Dave! They did such a phenomenal job, that I also had my dining room furniture refinished. I feel very blessed to have found Dave and his crew! I absolutely recommend them to ANYONE who wants their project done well, by trustworthy kind people at a great price! Dave & his guys Sergio (& team) are a dream. I had a very limited budget & Dave quoted me less than half of what others did. He is SO responsive, has your back on paint finish selections - He even sent me an Amazon link of soft closing hinges to buy! All of this via text & phone. His team wears masks at all times, methodically number the doors/ panels they take away for offsite painting. They seal the kitchen so well when they come back to paint the frames. All in 3-4 hours! The paint finish is like brand new - I'm glad I decided to keep & paint my original maple cabinets. Most affordable new cabinets are particle board! So do consider before you get rid of your cabinets. There aren't adequate positive things I can say about this Dave & his small business. Please support these good humans & their work! I'm about to have 2 friends leverage his services! Last, he even recommended a contractor to do an emergency bathroom reflooring - that gentleman also did a fantastic job! This Dave keeps good humans around him! read more
