The shop saved my car! I have an oldie, but a goodie Mits Spyder. We took it to a local shop in Ann Arbor and spent over $2200 getting spark plugs changed, and a timing belt, which didn't fix the problem. Next diagnosis was a head gasket repair with over $100. per. bolt quoted to us by this Ann Arbor shop. (Need 10) and a $3400 price tag quoted for repair. WHO CARES if ANY shop guarantees their parts if the parts are part of overpricing repairs, as well as misdiagnosis. The car was listed FOR SALE because of such a high repair price tag. We did research for a second opinion. We found Datsun Doctor thru referral (7 phone calls to local shops) & paid to have it towed. Their repair was under $1K and they redid the work of the other shop. No head gasket repair needed. It does NOT overheat. The local shop also used aftermarket cheaper parts and charged more than for them than OEM parts. They claimed the timing belt was OEM. It was not. Buyer beware! Datsun saved the day and knew my car and what was wrong, for real. We've driven it for over 2 hours and it is once again running well. Well worth investing your trust in this shop. I've reviewed the Datsun Doctor before but I wanted to post another example of how great they are. Recently I took my 2004 Highlander in for some exhaust noise. It's 11 years old so I bet most any other shop would tell me I need a new exhaust system and I would have believed them. They simply replaced the part of the exhaust that had developed a hole because the rest of it was still serviceable and I was able to get out of there for $100 or so. I didn't mention in my last review that they have an evening key-drop so that you can drop off the car after hours. Very convenient. This place is unbelievable when it comes to service. I cannot say enough good things about the owners or their staff. I lived in Waterford, which is why I started taking my Hyundai to them in the first place, and I still go there now, even though I live about an hour away. They go above and beyond the call of duty. As an example, my windshield wipers stopped working. I went up to the Datsun Doctor. Ted (the owner) came out and took a look. He realized it was a blown fuse. He replaced my fuse, and then spent the next 15 minutes showing me my fuse box, where everything was located, and how to fix a blown fuse myself. Then he sent me on my way, at no charge at all. Who does that? His wife still remembered me when I called about a problem today, even though I hadn't been there in over a year. Incredible. I cannot recommend them enough. read more

Despite being super busy, they always take time to explain the service your vehicle requires and the options available. They do a great job of explaining things in terms of value and cost, highlighting the service that your vehicle really needs and pointing out the service that you may be able to put off. My teenage son's 2005 Honda Odyssey minivan would not start on a Saturday night. Datsun Doctor was only a few miles away. They arranged to have the vehicle towed. Repairs were completed the next day! After a few months, I can report no problems with the repairs. Datsun Doctor is less than half the cost of my dealership with better customer service. The quality of the work is excellent. These folks really care about your car. I had taken my 98 Accord there several years ago for the major 120K+ engine service. They did a great job! Today I had to take it in for a gas tank leak - they determined it would be a very costly repair and wasn't worth it on a car of this age & mileage. They love cars and care about their customers so much - I swear they hated to deliver the bad news... it reminded me of the time my vet had to tell me my dog was terminal. They were sad my Accord was terminal. I will be bringing my next car to them when it needs work too! read more

My Honda Civic was towed here in the evening after it went into fail safe mode and wouldn't drive. They called me first thing in the morning to get as much information from me as possible about my car and an hour later called to tell me what needed fixed. They knew I was worried about how much everything would cost and the amount of damage and wanted to give me some good news as soon as possible. Such a friendly staff and everyone I spoke to was extremely caring which is rare! I am usually apprehensive when it comes to mechanical services and am often frustrated with how I am treated, which was not at all the case for Datsun Doctor. 100% RECOMMEND!!! read more

Not impressed. Went to take my car in -- told me no record of my appt. Person at desk rather rude. Then found my appt. Just appear very disjointed. Maybe good work "behind the scenes." But ended up leaving. Seems like major disconnect between what they tell you on the phone and reception person. read more
