If you've ever been kicked to the curb in a relationship and had no idea what happened, but you had your heart and soul in it and no matter what you tried, you couldn't fix it, well, you'll understand the feeling I had. In the case of my hard drive, however, I was glad I found Ace Data Recovery, who could fix it. My drive had some precious data and artwork on it, and Ace Data got it back. As you likely know or will find out, this is not a cheap proposition. All drives will eventually fail and, fortunately, these days it's fairly inexpensive to buy a good external drive. But if the day comes that you're stuck and need an honest assessment by a reputable company...this is a good one. Diana and Don were very helpful and responsive, and I got back everything I'd hoped for. Fwiw, I spent several weeks after first contacting them, learning everything I could about data recovery and comparing prices. Ultimately, it became obvious that it's faster and safer (and cheaper in the long run) to take your drive to an expert. The price I received from Ace Data was consistent with other places of the same caliber! Then when I kept hounding him to give me this assurance he ended up sending me my drive back with someone else's data on it (after he initially sent my drive back with literally nothing on it). Completely lack of accountability and constantly makes excuses for his lack of integrity. Take this review for what you will but I'd just completely disregard having this company do data recovery.

I brought my iPad in to get a cracked screen replaced, expecting a professional repair job. What I…read moregot instead was a total disaster. The screen replacement was sloppy--visible adhesive around the edges, and the screen wasn't even aligned correctly. Within minutes (definitely less than an hour) of getting it back, the iPad started ghost writing--randomly typing and locking me out like it was possessed. I brought it back, and instead of owning up to their mistake, the guy who "fixed" it tried to blame me for the ghost writing issue. Seriously? It worked fine--aside from the cracked screen--before they touched it. And it gets worse: the manager at the Irving store admitted their Coppell location was closer to me, but still sent me all the way to Frisco, saying their Coppell repair tech "wasn't good either." That's not exactly confidence-inspiring. Thankfully, the Frisco location managed to fix it properly, but I should never have had to drive to a whole different city just to correct their incompetence. They also promised to call and refund part of the $150 I spent due to all the trouble. Of course, that never happened. No call. No refund. No accountability. This place is run by people who don't stand by their work, don't value your time, and clearly don't understand customer service. Shady business, poor workmanship, and even worse management. The review sites provide the designated method or responding, and generous methods to get inappropriate reviews taken down. This operation looked me up, called me, and texted me repeatedly. Each round gets a little more aggressive. This location quoted $200 more to clone a hard drive before replacing it (going from a factory spinner to solid state). This process involves inserting the new memory stick into an enclosure, selecting source, destination and clone in the software, letting it run 20 minutes, test booting from it, and removing the memory stick from the enclosure. The work is so trivial that most shops include it with the swap quote. Other shops charge about $10 for the incremental labor involved.
