The effort of recovering the data ended up being very challenging and took longer than any of us expected, but at the end Five Star was able to recover over 99% of the files--and I'm happy to say, the 1% of files were not important to me, so the 99% they recovered covered everything I needed. Despite that significant extra work, they invoiced me only for the original quoted amount. I'm happy with the results but also the professionalism. When I first reached out to Five Star, they got back to me at the start of the next business day and, after answering a few follow-up questions, I had a quote and scheduled to drop off my drive the same day. Instead, he was more concerned about selling a coverage plan that seemed too good to be true. After a brief discussion, I determined that the laptop had an external issue, so I went to Geek Squad. Again, the representative did not look at my computer and told me the product had to be shipped to Microsoft, so I asked for an external wifi adapter. Went home, the problem with my wifi persisted. The next day, I found a little shop near my apartment and decided to give it a try. Upon explaining my problem, the technician looked over my computer and did a thorough check. We shortly found out that the problem was not with the hardware, but software corruption. He showed me the settings I had overlooked and fixed my computer within a few minutes. Many of the bigger competitors do not have time to care for sitting with a customer for a few minutes to resolve an issue, but it is obvious that Hammes cares about his craft and his clients. The few minutes he spent fixing my technical issues has earned my respect as a customer for as long as I live in Glendale. Both are highly responsibly, well thought of people in the city of Glendale. So when they referred me to CKK Computers (not far from city headquarters) this was the first call I made. Got a chance to speak to Chris, who invited me down later that afternoon (yesterday). (I was told to call first because CKK does a lot of in house consultations. Which was/is true because Chris was in a consultation when I arrived. Then again in the aft when I returned at 3 pm. (to make a purchase of a Lenovo that Chris recommended.) They have tons of in-house product, i.e. laptops, desktops, refurbished, refreshed items that are top shelf. Also, there is a bright spot on my phone on the right side, which affects my wallpaper. I came into this place to have it checked out and see how much it would cost to repair. The tech took one look at the photo and said it's not the screen that's damaged. It's the photo is highlighting a glare in the background. He switched it to night mode, and the glare was gone, so it was clearly the photo I had as a background and not the screen itself. Also, I asked him about the streaks of light on my photos. He took one look at it and said that my lens cover is really dusty. He cleaned it off and we took a photo and all the streaks were gone. I wanna point this out because these are two things that any dishonest repair shop can easily say they will look at it and fix it and charge me $100-$200. Because of their honesty, this was a five minute visit where he did want adjustment and one lens cleaning and didn't even charge me. It's good to know that they are still honest repairman out there. If I do have a problem, I will be sure to come back here
