X Files Recovery

Recently, one of my lab partners offered to swap out my PC for a more powerful CPU and we thought…read morethe easiest path would be to install my existing hard drive in the new PC. It seemed like such a straightforward procedure yet I didn't have a complete backup. Big mistake. Somehow, the old drive received an electrical surge which fried the amplifier that drives the head stack. If you don't know what this means, the result is that the drive became completely unreadable. At least according to all the best efforts of me and my colleagues. It turns out there were a couple of files on that drive that would take hours upon hours to recreate; that's when I happened upon X FIles Recovery. I had no idea why the drive could not be read. The above explanation was provided to me by Chris, the owner of X Files Recovery. After about a week of intensive diagnostics, Chris was able to figure out what went wrong, obtain a new part, and proceed to recover the entire formerly "unreadable" drive. Thank you, Chris! I highly recommend X Files Recovery to anyone who has what seems a hopeless case of lost files!!

I left my had drive to be fixed last yearend Chris said it would cost $1200-$1500 if he could get…read morethe data. I talked to my aunt in Brazil since the HD was hers, and she was going to make a decision and let me know. I completely forgot about the HD and a few months after when she reminded I contacted Chris and he said he wasn't sure if he still had it. I complained he should've called me if he was going to do anything with it. He said he did, but I never got a voicemail to confirm. He said he was going to look for it and if he found it he wouldn't do any work on it. Like I wanted him to. Luckily he found the hard drive, but my review is to write about his lack of professionalism.

I'd taken my external hard drive into a local computer shop (Newport County Computer) and was told…read morethat the data on it was not recoverable. After doing a little research, I decided to call a few other computer shops. Russ at First in Service was incredibly friendly, thorough, and helpful in explaining his recovery process while also explaining that there was no guarantee that he could recover the data. I decided it would be worth the 25 mile drive to have Russ look at it. He called a few hours later, shortly before closing on a Friday just to say, "I wanted you to be able to enjoy your weekend knowing that it looks like I can successfully recover everything." A few days later, he had copied all my data onto a new hard drive that is working perfectly. If I run into any computer problems in the future, Russ will be the first person I call!

From 1st impression, through end of 1st service request, and multiple stops since, w/ Russ, I felt…read morewell informed, and, in good hands. The service request executed each time, on multiple different laptops, across multiple years, mirrored one of the range of possibilities - and timelines for each possibility - laid out after his initial hands on assessment. Service is well priced and billing for services rendered always aligned with what was quoted for that service and any necessary replacement. Beyond all that, there's the trust & peace of mind you feel that you're dealing w a straight up good dude, who will treat you right. Can be tough to get that in this space, and similar, like a good car mechanic. On my way to Russ, I travel by quite a few service providers, large and small, on my way from southern RI to Swansea I'd not take my laptops anywhere else. Absolutely "First in Service".
