I had the Schnitzel Von Schwein (Pork Schnitzel) with mashed potatoes & gravy with a side of garlic green beans and my boyfriend had the Weiner Schnitzel with fries and sauerkraut. Both were excellent as well as the bread (served warm) & butter. The only problem I had was I ordered the cherry strudel to go and didn't take a good look at it. When I got home, they must have warmed it because it was soggy and moist instead of crispy AND the top was burnt. Certainly NOT worth the $7/slice. Not sure, but I think I counted MAYBE 3 cherries that were smooshed and looked like the cherries forgot to be added and it was so thin too. Not anything I would imagine strudel to look like, AND it was nothing like the picture on the menu. So be warned, if you go there for dinner, food is well worth the price but please, stay away from the strudel dessert. Take a chance and go with something else. read more

Just wanted to update my review how fantastic this place continues to be after all these years. I'm not even going to try to spell what I had but basically it's stuffed cabbage pictured here and it came with sauerkraut and then I chose speatzles as a side. Just happened to be in the area yesterday and saw this place on maps so figured we'd grab some takeout because I'm a sucker for German food. From looking at the menu, walking into to pick it up, eating it at home, this place did not disappoint. Let me start with the menu, everything looked and sounded amazing. Ordered some traditional pork schnitzel, a kase schnitzel and a wurst plate. Next, when I pulled up, pretty unassuming but loved the look of their enclosed patio. Once I walked in though, the ambiance, decor, smells...wow!!! Looking forward to eating in at some point and enjoying the gorgeous patio room! Really, the best German food I've had in a long time. The sauerkraut was excellent. I had the Wurst plate and the sausages were a good size! Other members had the Jeager schnitzel and loved it. Went here Christmas Eve for Dad's bday dinner before church. Our group of 7 was seated in the party house next to the main building. LOVED the coziness and holiday decor. Wonderful atmosphere. It could seat several other largish parties, too. We all enjoyed our meals. I had the Deutsche Platte, basically a German sampler platter. This was visit the family had to do per our mother/wife. You approach the building and then walk inside and you can really feel the German pride at Das Schnitzel Haus. We go there a little after them opening and there already a good number folks in already. As time went on, it really started getting packed, which had you feeling that was bound to be really good. Ashley was our server. Very cheerful and was aware of dietary restrictions because the menu is not labeled but the kitchen can make adjustments for a few dishes. I selected the baked walleye, gluten free with no breading. A good sized filet of walleye and it was cooked so well with the spices and garlic butter. I really liked the green beans with the garlic flavor. The potato salad looks like au gratin potatoes but it doesn't have the taste. Definitely a bit of a shock to me. A had a little bit of it, my mom really loved it so she's getting the leftovers! My parents got their own wurst plattes. A bratwurst, knockwurst and a Hungarian sausage. Sizable links for sure. Really good and strong flavor on each. My brother got the burger with french fries (at a German restaurant, but whatever). It was well complemented with the cheese, German spice blend and toppings. Food was not good, and they were out of everything at 5:00PM. Ambiance was greater than usual, but the food declined terribly. The waiter was great, and it was not his fault, he took care of our party of 20, attended a table of probably 10 and another large party while working the bar. Couldn't wait to Pauline's Helle but they were out, ordered a lamb shank but as the dinners were coming out was told they are out, ordered something else, asked for menu. Ordered something else and told it was out also. Finally ordered Cevapi sandwich. It was tasteless, and the fries were also. Two of the Chicken Paprikas dinners were fine, but one was watery. It was my first visit to Das Schnitzel Haus. The food was spot on! Everything was quite good and authentic (we were just in Germany this summer). I had sauerbraten, spaetzle and German potato salad. I loved it all and was so happy to have leftovers. My son loved his kase schnitzel. My mom said the paprikash was excellent. We were seated in what seemed like is maybe a porch in the summer. So not in the main restaurant. It was quieter than the main restaurant but by the end of the evening we felt kind of isolated and a bit chilly. We arrived on time for our 6:45 reservation. We ordered by 7 and didn't get our meals until about 8 pm. I'm not certain why the delay. Not being in the main restaurant we couldn't tell if they were understaffed or overcrowded or if there was an issue. It did seem others who arrived after us left before us, so perhaps there was a glitch. We didn't get any appetizers. Their kolsch Beer was tasty.
