I really enjoyed my meal here. Let's be honest, the chef show, knife skills and "let's make an egg roll" jokes are pretty much the same wherever you go. What makes Daruma so great is the quality of the food and the quality of service. We just went for the 2nd time in 2 weeks. The first time we just wanted to try a new spot. Tonight - we were celebrating a big day for our 5 year old and there was only one place she wanted to go. I wish I could have gotten our server's name. Suffice it to say she was phenomenal and went way above and beyond. In fact she even happily tolerated the hugs my little one showered her with as we left. My little one likes to sit at the table to watch the show but is obsessed with sushi. They insisted on bringing her a portion of soup and salad when they brought it out for the rest of the table and didn't charge extra. What a sweet touch and something we won't forget. My favorites: My steak was cooked perfectly medium. This is often hard to accomplish on a grill. I loved the variety of fresh veggies compared to other spots - broccoli, carrots, zucchini, etc vs just a bean sprout and onion thing you get most places. The chocolate sticks they bring out with the check - yum!!! I'd go back for those alone. Yum yum sauce. The best I've had in Columbus. And the kicker - they can accommodate gluten allergies! In the world of soy sauce extraordinaire, they safely prepare gluten free dinners on a clean grill in the back. Can't wait to be back! read more

I have only eaten here once, and it was during covid. I ordered take out, which I feel at a lot of restaurants it isn't the same as dining in. Some places I feel like you get less food. I can't remember exactly what I ordered, but it was decent, nothing to rave about, especially for spending around $30 before tip and taxes. I don't mind paying good money for good food, but if it was in the 12-15 range, I would not have felt ripped off. I didn't have enough for left overs, and I wasn't entirely full. I'd be curious to try it as dine in, but for the money there is much better food that is more worth that price point in my opinion. read more

Food and portions were top notch and the chefs killed it, caveat we showed up ten minutes before our reservation and didn't get seated for 30 minutes after our reservation. read more

This place did not look very impressive from the exterior, but my girlfriend said the parking lot was full every time she drove by, so we had to go. The interior wasn't that much more impressive, but the service was great, and the food was absolutely fantastic!! Better than expected! We sat at a teppanyaki table and our chef was great, too. Anytime I am in the Columbus area, I will definitely make a point to have dinner here! read more

Well, upon entry another costumer walked out and informed us " watch out duck turd ahead". trash everywhere and when we walked in our feet stuck to the floor it hadent been moppen in that long and on top of that there was a duck turd as soon as you walked in so my family walked out birthday ruined. read more

A good place for Japanese food. Always fun to watch them cook the food in front of you. Been here before but this time there was only three of us at the table and the chief was friendly but didn't give us much of a show. Mabe because the other person who was not with us was on his cell all the time. Plenty of food , I had enough to bring home for another meal read more

We gave them our name at 5:52 and were told it would be 45 minutes. At 6:52 , they told us it would be another hour to be seated. We never found out if the food was good, we left and went to House of Japan. read more

The Goods 1. Hibachi style teppan yaki with a personal chef! He's so talented! He spins and juggles eggs and tosses food into your mouth (this is not optional) 2. Choose from a sushi roll selection or other small appetizers like coconut shrimp or potstickers. 3. Cocktail menu is quite extensive 4. For dinner: choose combos of steak chicken or shrimp or filet. Then you upgrade steamed white rice for fried rice (which I recommend) 5. All choices come with a fat noodle chow mein, which is delicious 6 you can also choose dessert but I passed because it was very filling 7. Consommé like soup with tempura crumbs and mushroom and iceberg lettuce salad with a Japanese style dressing Service 1. Hostess was not very inviting but at least our wait went from 30 min to 10ish 2. Out server was very efficient and friendly!! 3. Chef was talented and did a good job, didn't seem to play around as much as the neighboring chefs....sort of luck of the draw Ambiance 1. Traditional Japanese and spacious, 2. Simple and clean. 3. CC accepted and ample parking 4. There is a little fish pond inside MoJo 1. All the teppan is super delicious because they put a looooot of butter!! 2. Be prepared for yummy but indulgent heavy meals. Yumyum sauce and steak sauce goes with the meal read more

Hiabachi is always good! The chef was fun and the service was fast and friendly! Recommend

I've only been to Daruma twice, but this is by far my most favorite Japanese steakhouse. The interior of the restaurant was nice, and the staff were friendly. Both of my cooks were energetic and welcoming. When it comes down to food, the reason why everything is so delicious is because they cook it with.... GARLIC BUTTER. Everything is so delicious and portions are so large that you can have it for lunch and dinner. Lunch prices are definitely worth it, imo. Haven't tried dinner yet. But I will always be back. read more

Daruma - Lunch portion.... HUGE. - Japanese Near Me - Hilliard, Ohio

We were in Columbus and after going to CAM International Market, saw this was just down the street. We opted for sushi instead if the tepppanyaki table because the portions we saw were HUGE and neither of us can eat like that anymore. Plus were a little over an hour from home. We ordered the Dreams rolls, yin and yang, eel and cucumber roll and the flaming lobster. All was pretty good, but the seasoning on the top of the lobster was a bit different. Not bad, just different. Nice size rolls, all very fresh, and the sushi chef stopped by to see if we enjoyed his personal creation-- the flaming lobster roll. If we were in area, we would stop by again but it's not a place we'd just come this far to eat. read more

This isn't the best hibachi I've ever had but it is respectable. All the food was your typical hibachi experience and the place looked the part. Our chef was excellent and the prices seemed standard. All in all if you've ever had hibachi of any sort this should hit the spot. It's not the world's best but it also gets the job done right. The service was excellent and many other grill tables seemed to enjoy their experience. I'm only giving a 4 because it was a good time and experience but certainly didn't offer anything bold or new to your standard hibachi experience. read more

Absolutely delicious!! The service was on point! and the ambiance was great. Best Hibachi place in Ohio!

The food was excellent. Came here with a few friends the other night, and they were very accommodating of us. Most of us had hibachi, and the guy cooking was alot of fun. I was impressed by the quality of the food and by how willing they were to accommodate a large party. Sadly I'm not in the Columbus area all that often, but I will certainly add this to my list of go-tos. read more

Joke of an establishment. I've called them three times for the past couple of days in order to place a takeout order with NO answer. On the other hand their WestPointe location answered on the second ring. Fix your customer service and I'll rethink my review. read more

As far as hibachi goes these restaurants are all very similar, but Daruma is a bit better than usual because theirs includes noodles and extra vegetables. Great food! Great service! Best Hibachi experience in town! Would recommend over and over!

This is a great place I came here once to eat in and I ordered the crab Rangoon and 270 roll. Very yummy. The hibachi food is good as well, I feel like they could do something about the oil they season their food with though. Sometimes it leaves a weird taste after. read more

SO I FINALLY GOT A RESPONSE FROM THE RESTAURANT... Jenna B. (who has 0 Yelp reviews and 0 Yelp friends) sent me a Yelp "compliment" that says "Your review sucked. Get over yourself and book somewhere else. Stop trolling on a business that goes out of their way daily to satisfy people." No "hey, I'm the manager..." or I'm the owner... or gosh, we blew it and we're so very very sorry... Not a peep. Instead I get someone who is probably the teenager who screwed up our reservation in the first place, sending an insult to my very legitimate (albeit deliberately harsh) outing of their screwup. "Get over yourself and book somewhere else. Stop trolling on a business..." Yep, Jenna B., that's EXACTLY what I'm going to do. Never pick a fight with a customer, Jenna B. In the end, the customers vote with their feet, and customers always win... read more

We came here for dinner Sat night based on the great Yelp reviews. They reopen for dinner at 4:30 and we arrived shortly after. We chose hibachi seating and were seated on one end. There was a family of 4 at the other end of the grill. Our hostess was sweet, our server was nice and attentive. The chef was friendly and cool. He did a couple of tricks without going overboard. My husband had the steak and calamari combo, while I chose the King Salmon. The food is really good. It includes a salad, soup, and shrimp appetizer (which was grilled and served last for some reason). We each had a large bottled Japanese beer, which was a mistake because I couldn't finish it or my meal. The noodles were grilled first and they were fantastic. The fried rice and the vegetables were great, as well as the salmon. The yum yum sauce was a nice alternative to sakura sauce that I love at another place in town. Everything was cooked really well and we enjoyed it enough to return. For $20 you get a large, delicious meal. By the time we left, the hibachi seats were filling up so I'm glad we went early. It's a nice addition to Hilliard and I wish them success. read more

This place is a personal favorite and for sure repeat. I've been coming here for about a year and there is simply great service. Clean building, and wonderful food. I recommend their lunch specials! Fabulous service and the food was amazing. This was a great experience from beginning to end. We had the hibachi and tried several items. Will definitely go back. read more

This place has become my FAVORITE go-to for hibachi!! They also have really good sushi. They start you off with your basic soup and salad that somehow demolishes that of other hibachi places. So simple, yet so yummy! They have a ton of entree options. The service is fast and friendly... A great atmosphere for a dinner with Fam and friends, or a date night out. To top it all off, they have a full bar and saki options. This place is really a hidden treasure in my opinion! read more

Even though we walked in a half hour before closing on a Sunday evening, we were given the best service...we did not feel rushed. I usually do not eat the soup, but it is so good! The rice, noodles, vegetables, and meats are of very high quality. It's clear the ownership takes pride in sourcing the best ingredients. Even noticeable in the eggs, unlike the pale yellow eggs usually found in most restaurants, these yolks are deep orange in color. Very impressed with this Japanese Steakhouse. We will drive the extra 10 minutes to come here instead of Grove City. It's just so much better than what we are used to! read more

Wasn't sure about this place at first, but it's phenomenal! Get some yum yum sauce and egg yolk sauce on your order and thank me later.

Hibachi is why you will want to go to Daruma, but please do not sleep on their Sushi. Its some of the best in town. My friends and I will sometimes go here and forgo the hibachi all together and just eat a sushi meal. Its wonderful. read more

Went to Daruma on a drippy Monday night, the place was less than 20% full. I was dinning alone so I was able to sit at the sushi bar. Upon sitting down I was immediately greeted by an Asian gal and she grabs me a water and the menus. A regular there says that this is his favorite, and points out the gal that was helping me was the owner of the place. I placed my order with the sushi chef and very shortly after came a nice house salad. Minutes later a miso-like soup. The soup was no sooner in front of me and my sushi order was up. I ordered a Spicy Tuna, Hawaii and a Passion Roll. All the rolls were very nicely arranged and presented on a single plate. The owner came back immediately to check to make sure everything was good. All of the rolls were very well made, great flavours. Some places go on the cheap and use nori in the rolls that is just chewy. Daruma uses good quality nori so you aren't trying to tear your sushi roll with your teeth. After I was finished, the owner came back and asked if there was anything else I needed. It wasn't just the owner that would come and check on me. The sushi chef and another server would circle past me. Absolutely no complaints about service in this place. Overall, service was excellent, food was very good and the selection on the menu almost too much. I like this place and will have to return again ! read more
