I always leave wishing I had more time to browse and talk shop. I was able to set up my pull list ahead of traveling and I have bothered Chris and Richard dozens of time with special requests or recommendations. They've come through every time. I also love the classic name and the nostalgic aesthetic. It looks and feels like a perfect comic shop. Their prices are friendly and I could not recommend this shop any higher. I love this shop!

This is a Forbidden Planet style shop steeped in the merchandise of comic book fantasy. There's a…read morerange of new and rare comics available from across the range, as well figurines and toys to go with them. There are also a variety of sci-fi film based collectables. The shop is fairly small, but is stacked from top to bottom, so they make good use of the space. However, given its size some of the things that collectors might be looking for wont be here. Nevertheless, some interesting pieces to be found.

As I was flipping through the comics, there were nice little reminders in between to let people know that there were other older back issues available to explore and you just had to ask. I asked, and they delivered on some silver age Marvel books. They had DC also but I was short on time. The store is really well organized and easy to navigate and the staff was very helpful. They even "let me down easy" when I was picking through their other boxes when I had to put one of the issues I grabbed two of back to give another customer a chance. Womp womp

Mega City Comics is straight out of a movie. Wall to wall comics, musty smell, long haired rock dude working the counter and a young rock chic sorting out the volumes on the shop floor. The obligatory rock tunes playing over the sound system completes the scene. Black Panther, X-Men, Watchmen, Dark Wolverine, the list is truly endless on what this store has to offer. In hindsight I cannot believe I have missed out on the adolescent comic book phase. The dark energy contained within some of the editions is certainly not for kids, but I'm a big boy now and ready to embrace my sinister side. With comics starting from 99p to limited, hard to find £30+ editions, Mega City Comics is one of my favourite finds.

Well my nephew is already bored with four weeks of his summer holidays left to go. He asked me to take him somewhere 'interesting', so we headed to Gosh Comics on Berwick Street. Gosh is a candy store for comic book lovers. It has a great mix of graphic novels and comics from the Watchmen to classics like Conrad's Heart of Darkness. It also has a wide selection of art books, runs events and sells limited edition bookplate prints designed and signed by their authors. Instead of ushering you out of shop, this place has been smart enough to include canteen style seating, so you can look through your potential buys at your leisure and this is complimented by friendly staff who don't bug you. My nephew was officially 'unbored' for about an hour and I got brownie points from my sister for keeping him entertained - good times all round !

The employees are not stuffy and they don't bother you at all. There is a wide array of new and old stuff here. I found a lot of Adventure Time and Bravest Warriors, to my delight. There are also the usual DC, Marvel, etc. I found everything to be displayed in a neat and organized manner.

I don't frequent it as much as I previously did, but I came back here as it was free comic book day (who can turn down free comics?). Because of those free comics, it was fairly busy today, but it was still tidy and well stocked despite this. The chaps behind the counter are always friendly and eager to help - and this was the same as always as even though someone couldn't find the Flash comics on display, one of them took the customer to the comics (rather than just point him at the "F"'s on display). It seemed a little emptier in the middle than I remember, but that might just be because they were expecting a crowd and cleared out some display tables to make it easier to move around. Credit to them if they thought of that. Calamity and Forbidden Planet are the only two comic shops in London as far as I'm concerned.
