I have two very sweet rescue dogs, one of whom, TinkerBell, has serious health issues. My regular groomer is out on maternity leave and I needed to find another groomer fast. Ruff Life was highly recommended with good reason. Lindsey groomed my dogs and she was absolutely amazing. My dogs have never looked better. She was wonderful with them and they were very happy with her. Thank you Lindsey! You are stuck with us! Woof! read more

Dapper Tails - TinkerBell - Pet Groomers Near Me

BEWARE! They almost killed my dog. I explained in many emails that my 5 pound 4 year old HEALTHY puppy who has never had any health issues and has no preexisting conditions does not like her face blow dried and can be tough because she gets scared so she needs extra care. The owner Chris said they can handle it and added a $25 special handling charge for a total of almost $200 which is fine if they did a good job. Fifteen minutes after the groomer took my puppy from me she came back screaming with my LIFELESS dog. Her tongue was hanging out of her mouth and the groomer was yelling that she had no idea what happened, as my dog had just collapsed. We are new to our area. Our old groomer saw my pup 50 times and she always came back happy and healthy. Moral of the story is that this company has too many vans with a rotation of groomers and we got the one who was inexperienced and abusive. If you see a dog in distress you stop and return the dog, you don't continue till she collapses. You could have brought her back to me wet, I wouldn't have cared and would have respected you for that. The vet stated she was handled extremely abusively and they had to put her on oxygen and she needed fluids for the day. This business has many great reviews which are questionable. Please beware these people are inept and negligible. They also called and tried to blame the incident on my 5 pound healthy dog which is so disgusting and adds insult to injury. DO NOT USE.... UPDATE: this is a response to Chris's review below. What I told Chris's groomer was that she has a delicate trachea which all small dogs do. This is a thinly veiled distorted attempt by the ruff life to cover the botched grooming that nearly resulted in the death of my dog. At no time did I ever say she has a collapsed trachea. I can have you call my local vet today and our vet at our vacation home to confirm her trachea is normal and she is healthy with no issues. read more

They change my appointments without my consent to other days and times that I can not make. And then when I call to make a new appointment they change it again. And they charge me $180 to groom my 30 lbs poodle. read more

I have a one-year-old cavapoo with short hair. They had him the van for less then 45 minutes and they ended up charging me $155 and he did not even get a hair cut. The girls where nice but that's about it. read more

Don't waste your time with Ruff Life. They repeatedly cancel your scheduled appointment and an appointment made online is not acknowledged & they claim they have no record of it. I've been trying to have them groom my small, ultra friendly dog, who loves being groomed for over a month with no success. They confirm your appointment and minutes later cancel it. Ruff Life sure does make Life Ruff. Do yourself a huge favor, save a ton of aggravation and take your business elsewhere! read more

Ariela was amazing with our two dogs! They looked incredible after their haircuts and had a stress free grooming experience. Maybe even just as important as making sure they looked great, Ariela took the time to point out something that we followed up with our vet about. All in all, this was a wonderful experience! read more

The Ruff Life Mobile Grooming was fantastic! Ariela was so nice - she took the time to ask exactly how I wanted my pup groomed. She showed me the length she was going to cut to make sure it was what I wanted. The grooming was fast, the truck was clean, and Ariela was super professional. The grooming only took 30 minutes and your dog will be the only one on the truck. Highly recommend!!! read more

Since you won't return my phone calls and seem to only be able to answer your customers via this site worrying about your 1 star ratings I'll put this out publicly now. My dog walked off the truck which her paw would not be exposed so my daughter did not notice the bleeding until she walked into the house and blood was all over the entrance floor, otherwise you WOULD never have been paid. Second I texted immediately and was told "Lauren would come back but she does not really have anything on the truck for this get baking soda" after being 45 mins late getting to me my daughter had to get back to work and I was at work. I came home to carpet full of blood stains my new comforter blankets also. So you tell me how its my responsibility to now have my carpets cleaned have a virtual vet bill and replace the blood stained items in my home because of your groomer. I have been a loyal customer paying ridiculous pricing and I should have received an apology phone call and reimbursement since I now have acquired more bills. People beware because if they do any harm to your pet you will not get any help any regret or refund. My bank is going to dispute charges now anyway read more

Kim F is an amazing groomer who is loving kind and patient. My newest rescue had separation anxiety and the time she took with my girl to make her feel comfortable was above and beyond. We found Ruff life during the pandemic, and would never go back to any place else. read more

What great service!! Due to scheduling, our regular groomer at Ruff Life wasn't available today. We were offered service with Masha and we happily said yes as we have always had a wonderful experience. I can't say enough great things about Masha. My little pups can be very nervous around new people but they seemed comfortable with her right away! She did a beautiful job...both are chihuahua mixes but one is long haired and one short haired. They came back to me happy and smelling and looking great! Would highly recommend Masha! read more

I don't have you confused. I'm sane and sure. Tread with care and go look and other reviews on the bottom.... research.

Bailey was amazing! She took care of my dog so well! He was happy and looked incredibly clean when he was returned. Highly recommend

The worst service... My mini schnauzer puppy does not look like a schnauzer at all after the haircut. She was in a desperate need to get groomed, which would be her second grooming ever. With my groomer closed, I called Ruff Life. They came yesterday, and the service was terrible. They just shaved her down, everywhere - the body, legs, face, even the eyelashes. They didn't follow my instruction to keep the face styled as a schnauzer. I paid $200+ for the platinum package, which is supposed to include 13 procedures. They shaved the coat down, and were in and out in less than 1h. My baby doesn't look like herself, doesn't look cute, doesn't look like a schnauzer, looks like a little, sad bat. We are heartbroken. My advice is wait for your groomer if you can. read more

I can't say enough about how wonderful The Ruff Life grooming has been for my pup.. i have a 12 year old teddy bear breed dog, he has some health issues and he can't stand for long periods of time . I moved to Massapequa last year from Oceanside and our old mobile grooming service could not come to massapequa , so I looked up reviews of Ruff Life, and saw nice things , so I requested Ariela , and she's been a god send ! . She's so wonderful , kind , and patient with my boy.. It's so difficult when your pet gets older and they can't tolerate much, and is very stressful on the pet and the parent., She takes great care of him and we're so grateful to have found her. Also I just want to add that getting appointments is always made easy and they always communicate with you.. if you need a mobile groomer , I would highly recommend them . read more

This was my first experience with Ruff Life Mobile Grooming. Jamie was my groomer she called 10 minutes before to give me a heads up to get my dog ready. She was very professional and so sweet. So far so good. My little guy doesn't like going to the groomers but he runs right up to the van and can't wait to get in lol. He has good experiences only so far with Bailey and Jaime! read more

Could it be that a thousand dog owners called this company? They have no time to call back. They gave me a date for when the van would arrive. Never showed up. No call. What's worse they never answer the phone. They do not accept texts. Even worse if you want your dog groomed you have a choice of 3 types of grooming at different prices. They say on their web page thare only doing the most expensive type of grooming during this crisis. An opportunity to take advantage of the situation. A call takes minutes. It keeps customers. We understand busy and unusual circumstances. Just let us know what's happening. I can be flexible if needed. But no. The company got difficult and I am never going to use them again. In response to Chris. I am not a new client. Your business gave me the appointment. No one showed up. Clearly you did not look at the history. If there was a problem a call or a 2 sec text would suffice to let me know. It is called good business practice as well as courtesy. And to solve your 150 calls a day which would make most people rejoice, you decided to only perform the most expensive plan for grooming on your books. This crisis will end one day and businesses like yours will not retain customers because your clients were treated so badly. read more

Ariela is the absolute best. She is amazing with the dogs, always on time, curteous and grooms my Westie beautifully. I feel very fortunate to have found a groomer that is reliable and that can be totally trusted! read more

I am so happy with the service my dogs received from Ruff Life Mobile Grooming. I have two shih tzus - one who would be experiencing his first grooming, and the other who gets very nervous with grooming and can unfortunately get aggressive. Because of my dog that gets nervous with grooming, it's hard to find a groomer that I'm comfortable with handling my dog. Masha was great with both my dogs - she showed them so much care and patience. My nervous pup came back to me way less distraught than previous experiences I've had with other groomers. And my two pups came out looking so adorable and well groomed! Ruff Life Grooming is also very communicative - Masha let me know she was on her way early, and Chris would reach out to me to see if any earlier times would work better if they saw any openings, which I appreciated. I say if you're looking for a groomer, definitely give this company a chance! read more

The one and only grooming service that never stresses out my very high strung dog. And they always comply with our instructions as to how to cut his hair. Also-I've never seen a scrape or irritation on him, which we had come to expect from a grooming. It's easy to calculate the degree of care taken with both our guys because the time spent on each one is significantly longer than other grooming services we've used. Nice to know they're not rushing. The only criticism I have is that, like other mobile groomers, the cost is significant. Now thst we are all spoiled we just wait longer (too long) between services. read more

Lindsay from the Ruff Life called to ask if she could arrive early; and from there things just kept getting better. She arrived, introduced herself to me and our English Springer - Rosie and her patient and easy going demeanor set our pup at ease immediately. I have gone to 4 storefront groomers trying to find a good fit. I thought I was happy with my latest but since he went on vaca I decided to call Ruff Life. I could not be more pleased. Erika was professional and caring towards my 13 lb. Schnoodle. He is not a great client (moves around and makes it difficult) but she was understanding. She actually arrived early and was finished in about 1 1/2 hours. Much better than waiting 3 hours at my other place. Overall I am going to call them again for sure. I hope Erika doesn't mind if I book my squirmy boy with her again!! He looks so handsome with the cut she gave him!! And he smells delicious!!!! read more

Pricey, but Erika was awesome! She was conscientious about our dog's allergies and did a great job. She even lowered the price because our dog weighed less than we thought. Very honest. Well worth the money! read more

We had Victoria give our two year old Chiweenie a bath and nail cut. She was super sweet and we felt very comfortable trusting her with our angel. Didn't have to wait long at all for an appointment. Called us when she was on the way. We're definitely going to be requesting her. Overall great service! Look no further for a Mobile Groomer :) I do wish they had a little window where the owners could see through, but the dogs can't see through. That would be really good for owners like myself who get really nervous when it comes to their dog. read more

Had our first appointment with Ruff Life Grooming this weekend and we are so happy! They arrived on time and Vanessa was such a sweetheart! My yorkie loved her and he came back looking great! My little guy hates going in the car and going to the groomer, plus he gets nervous when he's just sitting in a crate waiting to be groomed. This was such a great option because he was in and out in 45 minutes! Thank you so much Vanessa and Ruff Life! We will definitely be using your services again! -Catherine and Chip read more

My dog Jack is a 12 year old morkie. It was our first time getting groomed by Ruff Life Mobile Grooming. I was nervous for my dog, that he wouldn't handle being groomed by someone new to him. Ariela was such an amazing groomer! Her presence was calming and she made sure to greet Jack so he can be more comfortable with her. She also made sure to ask if Jack had any allergies or medical conditions before handing him off to her. She even gave me an option on what shampoo to use for him. Ariela also asked how I'd like Jack to be cut and took her time with him. He came out perfect!! I was told that he was a good boy too! He smells lovely, his cut was perfect, just how I wanted. Jack is now a happy boy and I would definitely recommend not only the company, but Ariela as your groomer. Thank you Ariela! read more

Used Ruff Life for both my dogs' first grooming experience (I used do it myself) and Ariela came to take care of my babies. I am not sure who gets more stressed when it comes to my dog getting groomed--me or my dog. My dog is admittedly not the easiest to groom-- she's very nervous and doesn't like it no matter how hard I've tried to get her used to it or give treats while brushing gently, etc. On top of that, she shakes uncontrollably when she's going to get groomed, which I'm pretty sure causes more trauma for me than for her. After a bad experience at my longtime groomer nearby, I was freaking out that I had to start new somewhere else with an already nervous dog. I went to Yelp and searched the internet and settled on Julie from Ruff Life. She was actually so booked up that I drove to meet her in another town on a random street for our first grooming appointment (this was at my request bc I did not want to wait until the next time she was in my town)-- talk about being in demand! First of all, Julie spends at least 5 minutes just holding my dog and petting her and talking to me before taking her to the van for the grooming. I know this seems like a no brainer, but many other groomers just take the dog straight back. In retrospect that's both stupid and cruel. The grooming has always taken 45minutes to an hour which is also less time bc it's 1:1 and my dog isn't waiting in a cold cage, another huge plus. I will say the prices are a bit steep in my opinion (I pay $105 for my dog's cut, which is the lowest price point) BUT the peace of mind knowing that she's in safe and compassionate hands is literally priceless. Plus, they are driving to my house to perform the service so you pay for that convenience as well, which is huge. Completely obsessed with Julie and really appreciate having found her at Ruff Life. Also, when I send emails with questions, Chris (I think he's the owner?) is extremely responsive, which I also appreciate. I feel lucky to have finally found this place for my nervous, sweet girl. read more
