They injured my dog's rear paws with a razor. Did not ask them to shave there& did not tell me. Now she needs the vet.

This place inured both my dog's rear paws. I did not ask them to shave the hair from them. Look at the pictures. I need to take her to the vet now. They charged me $80 and didn't do what I asked them to do.

Came here for the self-wash and my dog and I will definitely be back! Everyone was so accommodating and friendly and my senior dog and I had a great little bonding time together. They provided everything I needed and I didn't have to clean up after! Great activity to do together and would be a fun family activity.

Wish I could give a negative & beyond star. I took my dog to this place 3x. The first time was so bad. They shaved him down to a half an inch left. Don't they know what a cockapoo should look like? They claimed that it is because my dog was matted. They advised me to comb him out every day so this wouldn't happen again. So that's what I have been doing so since the advice was given. The owner, Andrés, was very nice and apologetic so I gave him another chance. He promised that his brother would be the one to groom him. That second time went without any issues. I was so happy with how my dog looked that I posted a glowing review on Google. Well, that's about to be edited! This time, I needed my dog groomed because his paws were so dirty and no amount of cleaning cleaned him. I didn't know how to wash him myself. I texted the owner and he said he would try to get me my dog in. A few days later, we got to his appointment and saw their front desk for the first time. The last appointments were done during the pandemic and he wasn't supposed to do any grooming. I'm so thankful that he did. But I'm definitely not thankful after our last appointment. At first glance, my dog looked good but upon further inspection, I found that my dog was nicked between the eyes and his genitalia. I contacted the owner via his cellphone which is what he gave me and have been our sole source of communication. I expected an apology. Instead, he blamed me and said my dog was severely matted. Even if that were true, and it's not, why would he be matted after only 2 months since his last grooming? Not to mention, why would he be matted on his nose/between his eyes and his privates? Does that even name sense? The first time I brought him in to this horrible place, I have to admit that he was slightly matted because he's our first pet and I didn't know that I had to brush him out every day. Ever since that day where he was shaved all the way down, I have been religiously combing out his fur every morning and sometimes, a second time in the evening. So, matted? I don't think so. Andrés clearly does not know how to take responsibility and he definitely does not nor does his staff know how to groom. It is clear that the only thing he knows what to do is cast the blame on to others. Bones, Bath & Beyond is a hit or miss place. Unfortunately for me, it's been more misses than hits. Oh and FYI, the price for grooming, which includes bath and cut only, is $65. Then you have to pay $25 for the teeth brushing, nail cut, gland expression, etc. When I confirmed that the total will be $90, the girl at the front desk said, "I don't know. The groomer sets her own price depending what she thinks it should be." What?!?! Did I hear that right? Well, I had no choice. Bailey was dirty from playing in the dirt and that's the only reason why I couldn't wait the 2 weeks til his next grooming appointment at Petco. Bones, Bath & Beyond was good for last minute grooming but if the price is paid not only with dollar bills, but also my dog's safety, then it is not worth the convenience this brings me. Groom at your own risk. This owner's text should be enough proof, if my pictures don't prove how inexperienced and unprofessional they are. They will hurt your dog and blame you because they don't know how to take responsibility. Groom at your own risk. But if I were you, I would take my advice. Stay far far away from the razors of Bones, Bath & Beyond Butchers Grooming.

Brought our dog to the Massapequa location, same ownership, they cut my dog during his grooming appointment and severely injured his paw. His injury required surgery and seven stitches to eventually close the wound. The owner assured us they would take care of the Vet bill but it's been 5 months and they have avoided all contact with us. They have provided nothing but excuses. Stay away at all costs. They are a danger to your animal.

Highly recommend BBB as they did a phenomenal job on our golden doodle. This was our first time using them and we will absolutely go back again. Our appointment was at their new location in massapequa park - the owner was great and gave us a walkthrough of the location which was laid out perfectly. Our dog is always anxious going to the groomer however she was made to feel welcome and loved.

post surgery cut despite a shaving much better

I'll start by saying I used to love this place, the service, and how our dogs looked. I also understand not everyone has the best day every day and that is ok we are all human. However, I am absolutely done this time. I will start with the lengthy review of each and every time describing it so that people are aware of how they will start to treat customers especially those who become comfortable with them such as us who have been with them for two years. When we first started going our dogs came out absolutely amazing each time. Then occasionally we would sign a waiver basically stating we would have to not get the haircut we wanted because our doodle may be over matted (which is understandable). This happened once after her surgery and we expected it since she was put in a special shirt which prevented her from licking her wound, after her haircut she was shaved down to get out any of the matts and we totally understood the reason behind it. After this we swore we would brush our pup out on a daily and weekly basis and we have been spot on with it the next times we brought her here. Low and behold we got a call saying unfortunately they were going to have to go a bit lower than expected originally. Although we were disappointed we really did like the place and the way they treated the dogs so we went ahead and decided to let them finish. When we picked our dog up we were horrified about how short her hair was. We never wrote a review because honestly maybe they had a new groomer and places have bad days which is understandable. The next time, she was going in a little matted because we were away on vacation and hadn't brushed her, but was thrilled with the work that was done. They took their time and did not give her the "puppy cut" Since we were pleased, we asked for the groomer's name! The person working the desk refused to give me the name and said sorry we don't do that here. So let me get this straight, you don't want to allow customers to request someone so that they can be happy and have consistency?! We would have stayed a loyal and true customer if they were "allowed" to take requests. Today when i walked in with my goldendoodle for the third time since the initial shaving experience I told the new person working at the desk I don't want the same cut because last two times you guys shaved her for no reason so please if that is the case DO NOT PROCEED i will gladly find a new groomer or location, no hard feelings she's been brushed every single day and there's simply no reason. He said sure no problem let me inspect her coat which he did her chest back neck area he detected a few by her chest which was minimal. I explained she hasn't even worn her collar in three months to avoid any matting around her neck. He took a picture of a similar haircut to what I wanted and then I dropped her off. Two hours later my wife received a call where he explained that they could not do the haircut and would have to shave the dog down. When she said "no" he then said okay we can give her a bath, trim her face, etc. for a much cheaper price." When asked how much she was told $85 (That is "much cheaper" than the normal $100 for which her entire body would not get cut?!!) That hardly seems like a deal or even normal but i also told them not to proceed so what was the misunderstanding... I'm not a professional but her fur has been way worse on multiple occasions and she has come out of this salon looking amazing but today she was back to the "puppy cut" I will also say this place over books dogs like crazy, our other dog who they also groom has been at this location for 5 hours once waiting to be serviced and on another occasion was double booked and they called me to cancel the day of. On two occasions my dog was not assigned a kennel while waiting and instead was tied on their leashes outside in the waiting room to a chair or other object because of how booked they were.

Beyond Satisfied. I took my 3 year old dog in today to get the whole works (bath, groom, nails etc) in the Woodbury location. It was her first time at Bones Bath and Beyond and I was very hesitant because unfortunately we have had some bad experiences before. My dog is an anxious pup with separation anxiety. They treated her like a princess and didn't make me feel uncomfortable or embarrassed for having a pup who may be a little bit more needy. Very hands on and made sure my dog was comfortable before performing any services. The best part they aren't in small crates but instead they have designated "rooms" with more than enough space so dogs don't feel confined. I was in the area still and peaked in after dropping her off and my dog seemed content and relaxed. I don't normally leave Yelp reviews but I am so happy by the whole experience and my puppy looked beautiful.

Let me start off by saying that I have been going to this location since my dog (Maltese) was a puppy. Almost 4 years now. Some of the girls that used to cut her hair left the location. But I continued to take her there because I never had issues and they always did a good job. The last time I went about 5 months ago. They did a horrible job on her hair. I asked them not to touch the top of her head because she gets bows and this time around they did not listen and cut "the visor" on a female dog ! When I called to complain they basically called me a liar and said they "were not responsible for what happens to the dog when she gets home". After a long discussion with "Juan" who claims not to be a manager there. They agreed to a discount on her next cut. I Pay 100 dollars plus a 15/20 dollar tip every time and Always agree to an extra 20 dollar fee for any knots or matted hair. Never had an issue with the price. Never complained about the price. This one time that I was truly unhappy they gave me a hard time and after much deliberation they finally agreed to a discount. I decided not to leave a bad review back then , well because I actually loved taking my dog there and considered taking her back since they knew her from when she was a puppy. Past forward to 8/25/22. I made an appointment at the woodbury location because merrick had no availability until September 6. I asked very nicely, if they could apply the discount here since they are the same owners and the receptionist put me on the phone with her "boss". Juan gets on the phone and tells me he does not remember me or my dog. That he is not the manager there and that he cannot apply the discount and that I would in fact have to take my dog back to merrick to the same lady who messed up my dogs hair the first time. Why in the world would I go back to the same lady! When I asked for the managers name. I was told I couldn't have it because it was personal information. They have my sisters. My dogs. My fiancés name and phone numbers on file and I trust them with my dog. But I could not get the managers name to speak to him the next time I called back!! After being so rude, Juan finally said he would call merrick to confirm if I in fact had a pending discount , because again apparently I lie. Meanwhile the receptionist for a second time confirmed he was the boss but Juan kept insisting he was not the boss. They finally agreed to accept the discount they offered me months ago. Needless to say I will never return to this place again. I gave them a second chance and once again Juan was so rude! The costumer service is disgusting and as a paying customer who religiously pays for the most expensive package for my dog. I expected better treatment and not to, once again basically be called a liar. Save yourself the headache. They will be nice when you give them your money but the second you have an issue they will treat you horrible!

I'm writing this with a heavy heart and deep concern after what happened to my one-year-old puppy…read moreduring his recent grooming appointment at your facility. When I picked him up, I was absolutely horrified. His eyes were bulging, bloodshot, and rolling back in his head. He looked completely out of it it was terrifying. I rushed him to the vet immediately, where I was told he had suffered from asphyxiation. I can't begin to describe how upsetting this has been. I've trusted your team with my little Malshi before and never imagined something like this could happen. I dropped him off believing he would be safe, cared for, and closely watched. But what I picked up was a traumatized, unresponsive puppy who is still, days later, not the same. Since bringing him home on Saturday at 4 PM, he has done nothing but sleep. His eyes can barely open, and he's completely lethargic. It's now Monday at 2:30 PM, and I'm still watching over him, worried sick, hoping he'll be okay. This is not normal and it's absolutely heartbreaking. I need to know how this happened. I need to understand how my puppy could've come so close to such a serious medical emergency under your care. This situation is unacceptable and has caused me and my poor pup an enormous amount of pain, fear, and distress. I'm asking for an immediate and honest response, and for you to take this as seriously as it deserves to be taken. My dog is not just a pet he's family Both groomer and shampoo young lady had absolutely no clue of his state .This place should be shut down the groomer obviously knows what she did to our little angel .I would definitely not recommend this to anyone who has a pet who is family we almost lost ours from being choked while grooming .
