I liked it. My friend and I were in town and had a craving for Thai food. This place hit the spot. Nice interior with plenty of seating. Good place for couples or small groups. There's also a neat raised seating area in the middle with low tables where you eat while sitting on the floor in a more traditional Thai style. The food is good. They have the usual Thai classics. We ordered takeout from Dao for our white lotus watch party. We ordered the pad Kee Mao with tofu, mini egg rolls and the Panang curry with jasmine rice. The veg egg rolls were crunchy and mini, loved them. The pad kee Mao was really delicious. It came loaded with veggies and tofu. The curry was delicious too. Overall, the portion sizes were decent. Was randomly walking around the area and came across Dao Thai. They have a really nice outdoor eating area, although it was a bit cold we decided to sit down. There was no wait and we were served quickly. Was with a large group so we had a large variety of dishes including the vietnamese spring rolls, friend tofu, pad thai, pad sie ewe, basil leaf chicken, red curry, papaya salad. I actually really enjoyed their pad sie ewe the best, it had a really nice sweetness to it and the noodles were made very well. Also the price was for the amount of food was definitely good considering the area, dishes were only a couple of bucks more than in the suburbs. The host was also very attentive and friendly. Pad Thai has been consistently good, Pad See Eiw needs a bit of umph (I usually add more soy sauce & hot sauce to it). Today, my coworker and I decided to treat ourselves and dine in. Service was pretty quick, and the ambiance was nice. I didn't try my coworker's Bamee Noodles (which she added BBQ Pork & soup), so I can only speak for my lunch. The lunch special was decently priced ($14.99 with extra fees for different choice of meat). My spicy basil was salty and my crab rangoons were burnt. It was a bit disappointing, especially since the filling was very good. If they cut back on the salt and focus on the flavor, it would be really good. This restaurant was very tasty. I'm in town for business and a fellow coworker recommended it to me. I wasn't super hungry but I did see they had mango sticky rice on the menu, which I love. When I arrived, I asked about it, but unfortunately they mostly have mangoes on the weekends, the server said to come back Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. They did have sticky rice with custard which I ordered, and it's more of like a cake than a custard, but it was still delicious. I didn't want to get a big entree but I did get an order of the chicken satay, with peanut sauce and a cucumber salad, and the peanut sauce was also delicious. It was a little bit spicy but I tend to be a wimp with spice so for most people it might not be spicy. Be aware of this is located at 230 East Ohio Street and if you're coming from the West side of the street, you'll see an apartment building with the same number... First, this place is dog-friendly. You may sit outside and it is perfect if you have a furry friend to tag along. Second, the service is excellent. Food order to food on table is under 20 minutes. Third, the food is excellent as well. Ordered the massaman beef. Very tender and this is the first time I've seen an execution with pineapple -- perfect to cut the richness beef! I'd say this place is more like 3.5/5. I recently ordered Massaman Curry with Tofu for dinner. I felt the gravy was a bit thick and the rice quantity wasn't enough. Also, I expected them to at least add a few more veggies rather than just onions and potatoes. I've dined with them in-person as well in the past, and the ambiance is just like any other regular Thai restaurant. This place gets packed and busy later which means longer waits, so I find lunch here is the best time. A lot of good stuff is on the menu for both carnivores and plant based. It has many to choose from. There's many dishes that can be made vegan. Also there's cocktails. We got a few, including a Singapore Sling. It's about $9 for the cheapest cocktails. That's a pretty good price around here. It's about $12 for entrees. These have noodles or rice. Also you choose the protein. We had Pad See Ew, and Pad Thai. Most of these typically come with eggs. These are vegan without, and if you get tofu. Good and filling. The noodles actually had flavor, and weren't overcooked like at many places where they're actually crunchy and like a big glob. Good for those looking for some cheap Asian. It has many great vegan choices. The prices are very reasonable for how much you get, and you get quite a lot. read more

This was some of the worst Thai food I've ever had, taking price, quality and location into account. It honestly tasted like something from the frozen section at Walmart that's been microwaved. The appearance is misleading. the interior and decor are upscale and comfortable and it's very close to the Magnificent Mile, where you expect a higher level of quality and competence. I honestly expect a higher level of competence in general when I'm in Chicago and I'm rarely let down so this was an unpleasant surprise. The service was very friendly and if we took the food quality out of the equation, this would have been a 5 star experience but if you run a restaurant, food is kind of the point. Pad khee mao with beef aka spicy crazy noodles which isn't so crazy spicy but def spicy if you hit those jalapeños which adds alot to the dish. It's thick broad noodles that are chewy and absorbs the sause well. The veggies and fresh Thai basil makes this dish very delicious and goes with beef the best. Over dish is slight sweet and spicy with umami from the sause. I recommend. Bamee Noodles in soup is also super refreshing with thin egg noodles and bbq pork. I did not like the pork. The noodle and soup is very good and light. It's lighter on the flavor and the egg noodles is very similar to wonton noodles. The cilantro in the broth makes it very clean and fresh. Everything was great at Dao Thai restaurant. Started with chicken satay with some of the best peanut sauce. Pad Se Ew was right on point and my go to dish at any Thai restaurant. Their panang curry beef was excellent and a tasty ginger stir fried. All around a real solid meal and we will go back for sure. The owner is really friendly and a wonderful gem right downtown! I came here with my mom to enjoy a nice patio and Asian food - a combination that I've noticed is very hard to come by in Chicago. The patio was cute and hidden, and our service was very quick and attentive. I was only disappointed by the food itself. Our Vietnamese spring rolls were mostly rice noodles and very hard - we had to spit out the rice paper casing because we couldn't chew into it. The pad thai was essentially flavorless. The papaya salad was refreshing but only had one piece of shrimp (the description on the menu was therefore a bit deceiving).
