Very friendly staff when calling to inquire so I went ahead and ended up ordering three sheet pizzas to be delivered for my sons first birthday party. This guy trucked it out of his car into the torrential monsoon with our three sheet pizzas. He deserves a raise. THANK YOU. The pizza was fresh and delicious. They opened only a half an hour prior to its arrival. Multiple people at the party commented on how good it was. A few people mentioned going there when they were kids and it's just as good. I always disregarded them as they have "cafe and market" in their name. I assumed sandwich and bakery. We decided to pull in and discovered a full restaurant, patio, and bar. We decided to sit at the bar as it was last minute and there were empty seats. Joanna, our bar tender, instantly greeted us and got us some delicious cocktails quickly. My cosmo was one of the best I had. We asked for some recommendations, and she was spot on. The caprese salad was a plump delicious heirloom tomato with delicious pesto, mozzarella and balsamic dressing. The arancini was a cheesy risotto in a bolognese sauce that my husband couldn't stop saying "fantastic." Same with me. We ended up splitting the sliced filet which was cooked to perfection. Oh, and I forgot about the delicious warm bread and parmigian oil that was to die for. Service and food are 5 stars. We are going to come back again and again!! Loved it.

When a server finally did approach our table, instead of asking if we had been helped, she asked if we were moving. There were four of us sitting there waiting for service, and the entire interaction made us feel extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome. I don't like jumping to conclusions, but the difference in how we were treated made it very difficult not to question whether there was some type of bias involved. If that wasn't the reason, then there is still a serious issue with the level of service and how guests are being treated. The most disappointing part is that we drove all the way from Virginia to experience Salem and were genuinely excited to be here. To have one of our first experiences leave us feeling this unwelcome was incredibly upsetting. Waiting 20 minutes is one thing. Being completely ignored and then finally approached only to be asked if we were moving is another. Unfortunately, we left feeling like we simply weren't wanted there.

Because the crust is so thin, it pools a decent amount of grease in the middle when it comes out right out of the oven. The pizza is significantly better if you let it cool and rest for a good 5 mins. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and made sure our family had everything we needed. They had unfortunately run out of their famous garlic rolls, so we tried the gluten-free garlic slices instead. While we appreciated having an alternative, they just weren't the same. One funny family moment: my youngest was afraid to use the bathroom because of all the graffiti on the walls! Once I explained it was part of the restaurant's quirky aesthetic, he laughed about it. One small heads-up for future visitors: there is a step immediately outside the exit that can be easy to miss. My son took an unexpected tumble walking out.
