Went in for a pepper and egg sub. Didn't see it posted on the menu board and I asked why. The woman behind the counter immediately offered to make me one so I went with it. Got it home I was not happy. The green peppers were not cooked at all and there was American cheese under the pepper and egg mixture which I DID NOT ask for nor was I asked if I wanted cheese!! I was in Danvers to take a walk on the Rail Trail (what a great place!) and we passed Pete's and I found the name clever. I've been cooking a lot and obviously trying to avoid restaurants/social distance but figured they had such unique pizzas that we should try one. I called in the order to pick up and it was ready when I arrived about 15 minutes later. In and out very fast which I appreciated. No one else was there in the store but two cars pulled into the lot as I was leaving so I think they're still doing okay business. The pizza was really good! I went with the Danvers Special. It had a mixture of things - caramelized onions, spinach, peppers, tomatoes and my favorite - chunks of fried chicken. Very yummy. The only part I didn't love was the caramelized onions permeated everything so that the sauce tasted almost like bbq sauce with a strange sweetness and the cheese had some weird clumping going on. I would definitely try a different pizza (I need to look again and see if they have others with that chicken as it was next level good). For about $20 it was a great buy! read more

Just went there tonight, so disappointed. We have been there many times but tonight will be the last night. My wife had to go back they forgot to give us the dressing (that's okay it happens) French fries were raw (not acceptable). They were hesitant to replace them (they were RAW) but they did. I will never go to Pete's-A-Place again. I was just there picking up lunch when the manager waited on a woman without a mask. She was just the right height to breathe all over the order counter and napkin dispenser, which she did, and he didn't disinfect after she left. The ONLY reason Massachusetts is barely holding steady against COVID right now is because most shop owners have the guts and balls to uphold the mask requirements and refuse service to idiots who won't wear them. (I wonder why she bothered wearing shoes, or her seatbelt.) But NOT AT PETE'S! To Whom It May Concern: I am absolutely disgusted by the treatment I received by your employees at the front desk. It is no wonder you are always looking for new ones as your Facebook posts suggest. They are anything but "friendly" as your post from August 20 states. I came into your store at 12:44 pm on 9/23/17 order #24. Let me recount for you what happened. We had placed an order over the phone and came to your store to pick it up about 20 minutes later. I took about two steps into your store and greeted those behind the counter, informing them I was there to pick up an order for Liz. One employee, pointed directly at me and laughed while still pointing at me, he then proceeded to try to get the other worker next to him to join him and walked away laughing. The girl at the cashier did absolutely nothing and neither did the worker he was trying to get laughing too. I paid and left absolutely confused and mostly disgusted. I realize it may be hard to find quality employees for your business but if you want your business to succeed, your employees to thrive, and your patrons to have a good experience - people like all three of those employees aren't the ones to keep around let alone hire. I hope you review your security footage and take action. I really should have just left immediately without even picking up my order and paying. Next time I will be taking my business elsewhere and I will be letting others know about my experience too. I will also be posting this review on other social media sites and internet spheres. We've tried this place several times because it's one of the few restaurants that's truly convenient to where we live (walking distance, pretty rare in the 'burbs) but it's pretty consistently mediocre. I think we've tried our way through enough of the menu to stop, which is overwhelmingly giant and probably part of the problem (why do you need 15 sandwiches AND 20 subs, I'll be here all night reading the descriptions). The pizzas have an unexciting crust with greasy toppings that all wind up tasting like one thing - for the honey bbq chicken, that was sugar (not even honey, more like they squirted corn syrup out of an industrial vat onto it), for the five alarm meat lover it was the sour taste of pickled jalapeno juice (apparently that's the definition of spicy here), etc. Even the white arugula pizza, which was supposed to be spicy and with caramelized onions, just tasted sticky sweet, which happens when you throw a bunch of sugar in with the onions to fake true caramelization. The sandwiches are no better, they're on uninsipiring soggy grocery store bread with a few flavorless toppings. They don't even season the meat, which is easy to tell on the sandwiches that come with nothing but it, just a big lump of sad beef. I would love for this to be our neighborhood spot, but with the quality of food, I'd rather get in the car and drive to the next town over for a good meal. read more

We used to come here years ago for there salads. Very tasty but can get expensive. Tonite ordered 2 dinners. A Chik parm with ziti and Veal parm with ziti. Got home - great portions. Very similiar and not labeled on the styrofoam. Food was bland. Ziti was hard. Chickem and veal were dry. We did ask for extra sauce- couldn't tell if we got it. We both didn't finish. I thought of calling them but my hubby said don't bother. We don't be going back ! read more

We have been ordering from Pete's A Place for years and I have to say that last year they hit an all time low. We stopped ordering from them. Recently we decided to try them again and were not disappointed. It seems like there is a new cook staff or management. The pizza was delicious. The sauce is completely different, not spicy anymore, now it has a nice hint of sweet. It's just really good and my kids really like it. My son loves the steak and cheese sub and I like the Caesar Salad with Stake Tips. They have such great flavor and are cooked perfectly. I'm so glad we gave them another try. I heard about Pete's a Place because of an upcoming Flipping Boston show so I thought I would stop by and check it out. I have to say I was pretty impressed. I'm extremely picky when it comes to pizza and the pizza here was really good. Definitely one of the better pizza joints on the North Shore. The crust was delicious, not too thin, just about right. The service was very fast and super friendly. I like the updated look. Everything looked very clean and the paint was bright with nice colors that go well with the overall theme. They even offered fresh pizza samples at the counter. The menu looked like they had a decent selection of items to choose from. I'll be back for sure. Business was steady the entire time we were there, that's always a good sign. I'm looking forward to trying something else on the menu next time. read more

Probably the worst pizza I've had in recent memory. I'm a Commercial Pilot, and therefore eat in restaurants close to 700 times a year, and this pizza is horrible. I am so done with this place. I went there tonight to pick up an overpriced calzone, it was $31.02. I paid cash and gave the woman $32. Instead of doing what 99% of business do, just take the $31 and give me the buck back, she took the $32. This is absolutely fine with me TBH, not great small town service but whatever, no big deal. What is a big deal is that she then gave me $.95 in change. So now she just shorted me $.03. This is obviously not a large sum of money by any means but, really? I then asked for the additional 3 cents I was owed and she had the audacity to ask me if I was serious and then laugh at me as she smacked the change on the counter. Is this acceptable service anywhere? If the owner is reading this, is that how you want your employees treating customers? This is the last straw on a long list of service issues at this place.
