A friend was visiting her mom at the Kaplan hospice center and they regularly get Johnny's takeout delivered there. They got a large chicken pesto pizza, and brought some home for all of us to eat. That night and the next morning for breakfast the pizza was excellent. Instead of red sauce, it had a very light amount of very tasty pesto sauce, and it had sliced tomatoes instead of tomato sauce. The chicken on the pizza was excellent very nicely seasoned. When I looked at the menu online, it's extremely extensive. Johnny's was chosen because one in the party is gluten-free. She was so pleased with her pizza. Much tastier than others she has gotten out. Although I'm not gluten-free, I would definitely get more food from Johnny's. It's unfortunate that Johnnie's was sold recently. The new owners have already lost me as a customer. No friendly customer service, no smiles and food quality changed for the worse on the few items I ordered this soon after changing hands. I once loved their homemade fried chicken sandwich which was abundant in size and fantastic quality. Just look at this picture of their new version of chicken. It reminds me of chicken patty you'd get in grammar school that came frozen in a box. I couldn't eat it. I took it back and got refunded. Here's the kicker- One of the new owners said to me that's how it's been. The fastest way to lose a customer is to blatantly lie to them. At least own up to the change. Update. Apparently this shop has been sold. I don't believe the new owners are Greek. I didn't see the sign for the greek lemon chicken soup which was delicious. Not sure the quality will be the same unfortunately. I got an Italian sub with oil and light mayo which if they were on it I sure could not tell. My pet peeve,places that aren't careful enough to get orders correct!! read more

Wow this place is amazing. The food is excellent and they are happy to accommodate you with dietary restrictions. The food itself was exceptional, flavor and quality for a reasonable price. They offer gluten free options, and are extremely helpful. The restaurant was clean and they have a good amount seating available. Did I mention they have parking! Definitely worth a try! read more

Heard a lot of recent chatter about the GF options here, so decided to give it a try! I order the GF chicken parm sub, and knowing that GF versions of my old favorites (before Celiac) may not live up to expectations, I was actually really impressed overall! Bread and chicken cutlet had a 'real' flavor to it, and I actually really enjoyed! Also tried the pizza, which I thought had an excellent crust, buy my Celiac daughter thought it was a bit too crispy. Great overall experience, and will try more options! read more

Formerly Danvers House of Pizza, Johnnie's Beef & Pizza opened recently in this low-key strip plaza space next to another former roast beef shop (Jimmy's). Johnnie's serves up traditional & specialty pizzas, pizza calzones, hot & cold subs, wraps, bowls, pasta, burgers, roast beef sandwiches, hot dogs, Utz bagged chips, sweets (baklava, David's cookies, cheesecake slices), wings, fried foods, and cooler drinks (Coke products). They offer delivery in Danvers and Beverly ($10 min) and online ordering through the Toast platform. I stopped by Johnnie's recently and the place was quite busy on a later evening in Danvers. I ordered a Super Beef with James River BBQ sauce and American cheese ($10.95 plus tax), and no horseradish. I also ordered a Pizza Roll ($4.95 plus tax). They did not yet have homemade spinach pies. My order was all set to go in about 10 minutes. The Super Beef had a decent amount of shaved rare roast beef with cheese on the bottom and topped with James River BBQ sauce on a soft toasted onion roll. This roast beef sandwich was pretty decent overall. The Pizza Roll however, was small for the price paid, a thin crisp egg roll filled with sauce & cheeses. I was kind of expecting something a little bigger like a pizza log size for 5 bucks. Anyways, I would try this place again in the future and get a Super Steak Bomb and a Pizza and update accordingly. read more

When Johnnie's first opened it was PHENOMENAL ate here about 3 times a week because It was always SO GOOD. Last few times I went, food quality was downgraded ALOT. Haven't been in months. The steak and cheese used to melt in your mouth, now it's chewy and stringy. PLEASE bring the old steak and cheese back!!!! Staff is always super nice and friendly though!! read more

Grabbed a beef,cheese,sauce and a cheesesteak the week they opened. The beef was tender and plentiful and perfectly cooked, and the sauce had some spank to it. The cheesesteak was missing any decent amount of cheese, but the beef was okay. We will ho back for pizza since we live super close. Definitely want to explore the menu! Ordered a Chicken parm. Not 100% sure there was actually cheese in there. I will say the chicken was excellent quality. My biggest complaint is a common one. The sauce on the sub was pretty much flavorless. Tasted like they opened a can of sauce and did nothing to it. If they just added a little basil, oregeno, garlic, anything it would be much better. Also the sub needed salt and pepper so grab some from them while your there. They really updated the space since the last pizza place was in there. Very organized, clean and friendly. I have hopes that this place will have other options that are good. It's hard to come here because they are priced a little bit higher than other shops in the area. Especially the salads. read more

I have been several times and made a point of ordering different items. They make a great steak and cheese (lots of cheese, lots of steak that is not overcooked). Pizza and salads are very good. I've had a BLT and a veggie sub which were stuffed and not skimpy. Their roast beef sandwiches are yum! The staff there has always been friendly and I've never had to wait for an online order. Online ordering is great, areas to check off to include/exclude and an area for special requests to that item.
