Celeste colored my hair and I left the salon feeling like a million bucks!! She was professional and super cool. Like, I kind of have a friend crush on her. And I couldn't be happier with the blonde highlights she put in my hair. The salon is cute and welcoming, and Celeste rocks. I'll definitely be back! read more

If you are looking for the best haircut of your life and the best blow out (legit lasts for a solid week and I'm super picky about my hair), you have to go see Anna at this super chic and incredibly chill salon. The best way to describe Anna is to say she works magic with your hair. Her cuts are amazing. I have literally been stopped in the street and asked where I get my hair cut - many times. She also listens to her clients and has a true gift for creating looks that are both flattering to her clients and work well with their lifestyles. Go see Anna at Danka Panka. You will look and feel like a rock star when she is done working her magic. Plus, the salon is beautiful and has a great vibe. You just can't go wrong! read more

After Jocelyn cut and colored my hair for the first time, I knew I would never see another stylist in New York! My hair is thin and has a fine texture, so I try to choose my hair stylist wisely. Jocelyn did a great job listening to my expectations and then adding creative touches. The highlights definitely warmed up my natural color, and the cut is very stylish. I felt like I was turning heads as soon as I stepped out of the salon! My experience at Danka Panka with Jocelyn could not have been more enjoyable. I left the salon feeling relaxed and rejuvenated, and it was worth every penny! read more

I have been coming to Danka Panka regularly for more than two years. When I first discovered this gem, I'll admit I half expected the kind of frosty welcome that seems to be par for the course with celeb stylists. Not so from Dan Sharp, Danka Panka's owner and stylist, nor from his lovely staff. I have always been warmly greeted and treated as a valuable client. Dan and his talented wife Dana have created quite the soothing and welcoming space. A visit to Danka Panka is, for me, like a mini spa treatment. Fast forward a fair few (quite fabulous) hair cuts and I cannot imagine going anywhere else. I call Dan a magician. He is a deeply intuitive individual who takes in the whole personality of his clients before proceeding with the scissors. I am routinely complemented on my mane and I credit Dan for that. read more

I went to Danka Panka for the first time a few days ago and I can't say enough good things about it. Everyone was super friendly and helpful... not to mention that my hair looks better than it ever has in my life. I have very fine, limp hair, and I have been trying to force it to be long (with extensions etc.) for far too long. I finally got sick of it, and I asked Dan to cut it short and just make it look good... and boy did he ever! I was terrified, but it was the best decision I could have made. It looks so thick and full now... not to mention pretty damn hot. Jocelyn also did an awesome job on the color, I love it! I have gotten so many compliments on my hair in the last few days. My only regret is that I didn't go sooner. Thanks guys, you are seriously the best!! read more

I did not realize just what I was missing in a salon and stylist until I switched to Danka Panka. When I stopped by one morning to get a feel for the place, Dan, the owner, welcomed me warmly and took time to actually *listen* to my concerns. He then arranged a consult with Katrina the next day. Wow, did I hit the jackpot of stylists! Katrina first gave me a perfect blunt cut to my long, tired hair, and we talked at length about the color game-plan. The next week I came back for a fairly complex color session for which Katrina thoughtfully and meticulously prepared, and ultimately executed flawlessly. I have never been more at ease while getting color, or felt this good about my hair. Katrina is a highly skilled colorist and consummate professional, not to mention just wonderful to be around. Danka Panka should be everyone's go-to place for cuts and color -- your search ends here! read more

Dan and Katrina are amazing. I've been coming here for more than four years and this place is a gem. I am very particular about my long, straight, thick hair and have been to many high end salons int he city who did not live up to my standards. For some reason, these salons always want to razor cut my hair, I needed someone who specialized in cutting with scissors and scissors only. I have donated my hair twice, first time 15 inches and most recently 12 inches. They made me feel completely at ease. There was only one time when the cut was not working, I call Dan and he was quick to fix the problem. Katrina recently cut my hair, cutting 12 inches off, 3 inches below the collar bone, she layered it, slightly longer in the front and shorter, more blunt cut in the back. It falls beautifully with very little work. Thank you. read more

Still see Dan for my (amazing, awesome, easy) haircuts, but I switched to Celeste for color and she is FANTASTIC! Dan recently did my hair for my wedding and he seriously WOWED me and everyone else. He also helped to do several of my sisters' and mom's hair and everyone was blown away by his hair creations, his charm, his easiness and everything else that is amazing about him! read more

This was one of the best cuts I have ever gotten. I loved my hairdresser in Manhattan, but I hating having to commute longer for a haircut than I do for work. I am so thankful I found Leslie at Danka Panka. First, she really listened to what I was thinking and gave me her honest opinion. Second, she cut the same amount she said she was going to. Not only did I love the cut, but the color is great. I didn't know what I wanted to do with the color. She suggested a strawberry blond and I LOVE it. She also spent the time telling me how to keep my color longer and how to style my hair. It was a great experience and I have found my new hairdresser. I am just sad that she was so great that I feel compelled to tell everyone. I just hope that I will still be able to get an appointment! read more

Since moving back to Carroll Gardens, I have been going to this lovely salon, and I am so happy with everything about it! Firstly, it's a beautiful space with great music I love (..like fleet foxes) always playing. Rosa cuts and colors my hair, and I love her! She is very good at taking the time to consult and figure out what will work out best. And from what I have seen when there, the rest of the staff do really cool cuts too. I highly recommend this chic little gem at the bottom of Court St. read more

Received a great bob haircut from Jo. I do not have to blow dry my hair whenever I wash my hair. While she was cutting, she was careful and constantly checking to see if the hair was even and the angles falling in place. This is important for a good precision bob cut in my opinion. Also, Dan the owner gave me a good tip. When you have a graduated bob, you can tuck your wet hair behind your ears and finger dry the back of your hair while your hair dry naturally. The haircut comes out perfectly. Importantly, the great cut looks good while it is growing out until your next cut with them. I was very happy to finally find a place in Brooklyn to get a great haircut. read more

I got my hair cut from Vivi a few weeks ago - she is a brilliant, talented stylist who listens to clients, gives good feedback and knows how do work with different kinds of hair and different kinds of hair habits. For example, I don't use product, and Vivi worked around me and gave me a fun, beautiful cut! She also gave me tips to style my hair without product! And, I'm usually on of those people who feels intimidated in hair salons. Danka Panka is beautiful, state of the art space that is comforting, welcoming and far from any pretentiousness! read more

A gem in Brooklyn! Everyone walks out of Danka Panka looking fabulous. Dan Sharp is a genius, and Vivi fixed my bad color job with finesse. The salon is such a refreshing change from noisy, impersonal places in Manhattan. A light, airy space where the professionals LISTEN and work WITH each client. I am thrilled & delighted with my results. Totally worth the trip (with great bonus views from the elevated Smith/9th St F train stop to the salon). HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! A great investment in one's tresses. GO!! read more

Got a hair cut and highlights today . Both my cut and color are amazing . Not pretentious like the place I used to go to in Manhattan . I left very happy . read more

Words cannot describe how happy I am that I found out about Danka Panka. Dan Sharp cut 12+ inches off of my hair, and I could not be more pleased. The salon/boutique itself is clean, beautiful and simple. Even the products they use look as if they were created just for this salon. After a three year hunt for the perfect hair salon, I've found it! Thank god. Not to mention, the entire team is super good looking and they all have great hair, needless to say this makes you feel like you're in great hands right off the bat!! read more

After tons of searching and trying out every "great" hair salon in the city, Dan is the best. And very fair price for someone so experienced. I have dry, damaged, thick, curly, hair and he was able to manage it -- you won't go wrong! Seriously I never write reviews read more

You must see Rosa! I came to this salon on the recommendation of a friend after getting an unfortunate looking cut from another salon in the area (a highly rated one at that). Rosa clearly saw what the problems were with the cut and listened as I explained what I didn't like about it and what I wanted. Not only was she able to fix the cut, but it ended up looking great! She did an amazing job and was super nice and fun to talk to, too. I'll definitely be back. Thank you Rosa! read more

I hesitate to write this review because it means it'll be harder to get an appointment with anyone at Danka. My 27 year old daughter who just had a baby decided to cut her long thick tresses off (about 18 inches of hair!) to a short bob...and she investigated a lot, and we heard about Danka PAnka, well we went in! Me (grandma( the baby, my daughter and our little dog! We were greeting so warmly I felt right at home! Dan (the owner) his daughters were there and they played with our little doggie and they played with the baby, and over the course of a solid hour Regina turned my daughters beautiful hair into even more beautiful hair, and her new do it incredible, much more beautiful than I ever thought it could be...so now two weeks later I went into Regina with an awful hair cut, and mine is perfect too! And I'm going back as soon as I can so she can do my color...I watched her do color while I was there and she was wonderful, actually everyone there was wonderful! So thank you Danka PAnka from a newly relocated Brooklinite that was looking for a new place to call "hair home!"... See you soon! read more

Dan is a master hairdresser and stylist. After neglecting my hair for what feels like months, Dan was able to give me the sculpted edgy look I was after. My appointment was taken on time with a full hour dedicated to crafting my new style with friendly conversation to boot. The saloon has a bright and airy feel, impeccably designed with a modern clean-line aesthetic. If you are looking for a great cut at an affordable price in Carroll Gardens and beyond, then look no further than Danka Panka. I know I will be back just to visit their gift shop soon. read more

I have to agree with everyone else! Great salon, reasonably priced. Rosa looked at pictures of what I wanted, pulled up some suggestions of her own, and gave me a fantastic cut. She was meticulous about making it look perfect. Thank you, Rosa! read more

I absolutely adore Celeste!! I've been coming in monthly to get my roots touched up and I always leave the salon feeling like a Victoria's Secret model- beach waves for days (no joke!!). And when you commit to being light blonde, you commit to a lot of root touch ups and Celeste makes the time pass so quickly. The salon itself is relaxing and I love hanging out on the patio while my hair is processing. read more

Danka Panka is amazing! It is the best hair cut I have had in a very long time. Dan and the rest of the staff are absolutely wonderful. Not only is it laid back and relaxing but they are also truly talented. Overall it was a perfect experience and a perfect haircut! read more

Beautiful, comfortable salon AND people! Vivi is amazing, and Jocelyn & Dan both seem really capable and talented as well. A great haircut, fantastic color, and very pleasant place to spend a few hours! read more

I know this is Dan's joint, and we have fun shooting the breeze when I stop in, but this review's for the fabulous Leslie Hutchens. I've been a fan since I found her up the street at Dvir. In the past, I'd occasionally get a compliment about my cut. Since finding Leslie, strangers shout me down in the street to find out where I go. And this is a style I wash and wear... no product... no blow dryer. If that's not an amazing cut, I don't know what is!?! Leslie, THANK YOU!!! Dan, THANK YOU for bringing Leslie to the end of my block!!! read more

I'm so happy that I found this salon!! Rosa is GREAT!!! Super talented and gave me an amazing cut. I couldn't stop looking at myself in the mirror when I got home I loved it that much! I will be going back here again and again. 5 stars! read more

I've been to Danka Panka three times and have had a different stylist every time. All three times I've gone they have been great. I am very picky about my hair NOT having layers and they've listened to me every time when I've asked them not to add layers and even helped fix my hair when I went to a different salon. I learned my lesson from that one adventure to a different salon and will never stray again. read more

When you move to a new neighborhood, one of the hardest things to find is a good stylist and colorist close-by and I am happy to say that I've found mine at Danka Panka! Nine months ago, I booked my first appointment with Rosa for a cut and color. I needed a big change but couldn't quite put my finger on what I wanted....I wanted something drastic without looking like a teenager. I was drawn to that new peachy, pink ombred hair but knew I couldn't it pull it off at work. Rosa took a look at my inspiration photos and told me she knew just the color I should go for. I shrugged my shoulders and told her I was putting all my faith in her -- and I am so very glad I did! Rosa dyed my dark brunette locks a lovely shade of strawberry blonde and then added warm, golden bayalage highlights. The result was so flattering and so natural that I had strangers coming up to me on the street telling me how lovely my hair color was. Everyone I meet thinks I'm a natural strawberry blonde (even when I have my darker roots growing in!) which makes me laugh. The next time I went in, we went even lighter with the highlights and added some ombre for summer and it looks amazing. I'm about to go back now for a root touchup and to switch up my bangs. Color is expensive at this salon, but its worth the money -- I have never had such a natural dye job in my life and especially one so drastic as this. Rosa is fun, skilled and trustworthy -- there are no cookiecutter, one-style-fits-everyone, no soccer mom blowouts here. She really listens to what you want and gives it to you. read more

I can't even begin to describe how amazing this salon is. Got a last minute appointment on a Sunday when a different salon had destroyed my hair the day before (to the point where I was crying and I refused to take a my hat off) I wasn't sure what they could do or even if they could fix it! Every staff member was extremely professional and they stayed back a couple hours later so it would be perfect. My hairdresser was amazing to say the least. We went through all the options and she was very honest about what my hair could handle, it was clear that she cared. We came to decision which wouldn't damage my hair and looked fantastic. I left with a smile on my face and booked another appointment right away. I'll be going back time and time again. Their professionalism is second to none, and the results speak for themselves! THANK YOU read more

Dan Sharp is a pro. Wonderful stylist who you can count on for an amazing haircut! I've never looked better. Danke Danka!

Very rude personnel and terrible customer service. They require you to put down $50 deposit and fail to inform you of the cancellation policy when you schedule the appointment and that you'll lose the deposit if you cancel within 24 hours. I had to cancel on short notice due to illness and had to go emergency room instead of the hair salon and they still refused to refund the money and informed me about the cancellation policy post factum. Nor did the inform me that they have a web site where I could read about the policy, at the time I made the appointment. read more

Jocelyn is an absolute artiste! She did the most beautiful natural highlights/balayage mix on me and fixed some awful brassy highlights that an inferior salon had really botched. A good friend of mine who regularly frequents this salon recommended I see Jocelyn, and I could really just tell from our initial consultation that she had a great instinct for color and knew exactly what she was doing. Well, she did not disappoint. What a difference it makes when you spend the money to go to a pro! Never again will I chintz on my color. read more

I went to Danka Panka for the first time in March, after moving to the neighborhood, since it got great reviews. I clearly explained what I wanted to my stylist (Rosa) and even showed her pictures. It really wasn't anything fancy. I was up-sold on highlights I really didn't need, but I figured I'd let her do it since it had been a while since I last had my color done. What I ended up with was a David Cassidy Brooklyn hipster mullet, less color and highlights than I had to start with, and a bill for $300, which is way more than I paid when I lived in Manhattan. I hated it so much and was so embarrassed that I had to go back so she could "fix" it, which entailed cutting off half of my previously very nice long hair. I am really not sensitive or particular about my hair, and this is the first time I've ever had to go back to a salon so someone could fix my hair, but I am STILL trying to deal with the aftermath of this haircut 4 months later. Though she was extremely nice and tried to "fix" it, I was given a 15 minute time slot in which she was supposed to accomplish this, and felt like I was getting the stink eye from the other staff ( many of whom, btw, look like they haven't been home or showered since their bender the night before). If you are going to drop $300 on a haircut you can do better than Danka Panka. read more

I cannot speak highly enough of Danka Panka. The salon is intimate with a bright and open setting without any affectations (no music blaring at rock concert decibels, stylists clad all in black or dim, contrived lighting replicated nowhere else in nature). This salon is zero pretense and all class. I was wonderfully surprised by this place, as I specifically came here for Regina. I first saw Regina when I was desperate after a very bad job of highlights (think uneven chunks of yellow throughout a head of dark brown hair - it was really bad) and she was at Salon de Quarter on Smith St., an establishment full of affectation and attitude (see above list of contrivances that you will not find at Danka Panka) - Regina was the only reason to even think of patronizing SDQ. In a single sitting, she transformed my very fine, overprocessed and strawlike hair into a wave of soft, beautiful and blended golden tones. When I walked in, I had thought the damage was irreparable and that I was probably just going to have abandon my hope of soft summer highlights and dye my hair brown again. Instead I walked out with the loveliest highlights ever. I was dumbstruck by the magic she worked to make my hair so gorgeous. I have had my hair done at every amazing, high-priced, top shelf Manhattan salon (think Louis Licari, Oscar Blandi, Kenneth's, etc) and Regina outranks them all - the best color and cuts I've ever gotten. So naturally, when she moved to Danka Panka, my patronage followed. The fact that Danka Panka is such a bright and inviting space was a wonderful bonus. I cannot recommend this place and Regina enough. read more

I'm writing an update from my last review following Leslie's handling of the below situation that I had originally shared - not only did Leslie handle the color error made by another stylist with complete professionalism, she also offered to color correct my hair (completely free of charge) and was incredibly helpful re how to best manage moving forward. The color correction process she applied improved my hair color noticeably, and she could not have been more enjoyable to work with. (She is also incredibly knowleadgeable and experienced) She turned what was a frustrating and potentially awkward experience (re returning to the salon etc) into a very professional and enjoyable one. I will be using Leslie & Danka Panka moving forward and greatly appreciate the high level of customer service from both she and the salon. A good example of turning a frustrating experience into a positive one - much appreciated DP & Leslie read more
