Started out great , was able to make 2 kids appointments Friday for Saturday, no missing school! Received a text Friday, 25 dollar cancellation if I don't cancel within 24 hours, no problem I'm not canceling... I was going to make appointments for myself and oldest there... until !!!! Show up, girl was ok, not over friendly or rude and then the appointment! This guy is beyond rude and sarcastic.. I have been going to this guy for many years because my mom took my mom would take us here as kids. The problem is my mom never knew she could switch DRs. Only came here cus I needed to use my insurance before it expires and wanted an open appointment asap close to my home The doctor wasn't that great. He probably doesn't care about his bad reviews. Im just bothered he forced a brand of contacts on me when I specifically wanted a particular brand that I've been comfortable using for years. I had to pay extra, but I was whatevers about it since I thought I'd help a business out. For those struggling with finances though, I'd suggest getting cheaper contacts or frames from Warby Parker, Zenni or EyeBuyDirect, even Target optical. I also had to request both my prescriptions, otherwise they won't give them to you. I used to work as an Optician and understand it's all about money and sales, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. But then again, customer service could have been better. I'm more attentive to all my customers and very thorough with their purchases and insurance coverage. I just didn't want to be THAT person. I generally don't leave reviews, but felt that it was an injustice that this office is currently sitting at 2 stars on Yelp. A lot of the negative reviews are several years old, so maybe there's been a staff change. As a first time patient here, I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience. I made an eye exam appointment for 1PM and was conveniently reminded twice by text in the days leading up to it. Their office was closed for lunch between 12-1PM, but the staff returned promptly and I barely had to wait before being serviced. The whole process felt very efficient, but more importantly, it didn't feel like they were trying to rush me out the door. I explained to Dr. Martinez that I hadn't visited an optometrist in years and we briefly discussed how eye examination technologies have advanced and what new options are now available. I told him I worked with computers and he recommended a coating for my glasses to deal with UV blue light. What I appreciated most was that he never pressured me into buying the coating. After being examined, I was given the option to purchase new glasses. My current pair served me just fine, but I was open to the idea. Again, there was no pressure to make a purchase. I spoke to an employee about what my insurance would cover and how much I'd be willing to pay out of pocket and she immediately brought out all the frames that fit my budget. She patiently waited for me to try them on and even gave feedback! At the end of my visit, I was more than happy to purchase a new pair of glasses and the coating addon from this office. I won't be able to pick them up for two weeks, so there might be a chance for things to go downhill, but from what I've experienced so far, I highly recommend this optometrist! read more

The eye doctors at Walmart are better. I just decided to go here because it was so close to my home, and my they took my insurance. But the Lady who helped me was very condescending and had a smirk on her face the whole time I asked questions. They charged me the contact fittings fee but never gave me a pair to try on. I decided to buy my glasses and lens from a more respectful and honest merchat. They lost a new customer, but I don't think care. I also took my daughter there. But she won't be returning either. Next time I'll go back to Walmart, I'll pay $10 more, but at least they will charge me for what they give me, not like this place. read more

I called to schedule an appointment for my husband and myself. Our former Eye Doctor has retired. We checked our Insurance and found this office is listed as a provider. The receptionist was so argumentative, I just disconnected the call!!! I normally don't believe in ratings but in this case, I see why people have rated this office a 2 or lower!!! I would give this review a Zero Daniel martinez is completely rude and instead of being kind and nice. He judged just because I have medical. His words exactly "you have medical" laughed "you have oils stuck in your glands." He did not even check my eyes to see what was wrong until I said something. Whoa. Why the hell did I end up coming here? I must not have checked Yelp first because the two stars would've ensured I never set foot in this place. First, let me say I had NO issue with Dr. Martinez. He was great, knowledgeable, and friendly. My problem is with the rest of the staff. After I completed my eye exam and picked out my glasses they drew up the cost and I paid. Then, AFTER paying they said, "Hey, we forgot to charge you for something. You can just pay when you pick up the glasses." Okay, sure. Fine. We all forget something, right? When will they be ready? "Within two weeks." Sounds good. Well, a week later they called and said they forgot to charge me for something ELSE, and that I could pay THAT later too! The two "forgotten" charges brought the total up an additional 20-25%. Are you kidding!? Price ALWAYS factors in to what people decide for just about anything. Glasses are no exception. Oh, and two weeks? Nope. Try three weeks. "What's an extra week?" That's a 50% longer wait than I was told. If they said "2-3 weeks", fine. But they didn't. They said "within two". And lastly, when my glasses had finally arrived they didn't bother to contact me, despite the fact that they arrived a week late. I called on my lunch break to see if they had come in yet, and they had! Then, when I got there during my lunch break, THEY WERE CLOSED! Walked in with my daughter a few weeks ago. Two women in the front (not tending any customers or phones) looked at us as if we interrupted something (No smiles, unfriendly). We asked if we could browse their frames and they looked annoyed and said, sign in and we'll be right with you. I was now annoyed with the lack of customer service upon entry and asked why we had to sign in just to view the frames, they said "we have to show them to you". My daughter and I walked a few steps in until I just couldn't contain my distaste any longer and we walked out and took our business to the next Vision place on our list of businesses in Baldwin Park, where we were well taken care of and have thus far, purchased glasses for THREE family members and still have 1 to go! Hello again, Well, i ran out of contacts and needed a new eye doctor. Now i used to work for an eyeglass shop back when i lived in Vail, CO, and i learned a thing or two about eyeglasses and contacts and dr visits. This place sucks. here's my review in order of importance: #1: The staff is rude- they look at you like you are bothering them, like you are taking time out of their busy day! and i'm a cash paying customer beacuse i don't have vision insurance! #2: The place is dingy! Really poor lighting, it feels like a cave when you go in. And the outside, well it looks like you're entering a mexican cantina. Now no offence to any cantinas, i love me some tequila, but not if i'm going to get an exam for contact lenses. #3: Poor eyeglass selection. I wanted to take a look at some eyeglass frames so maybe i'd get a back up pair of glasses when i didn't want to wear my contacts, and the rude girl looked at me and demanded, "you have to sign in if you want any help". And i was just looking at the frames in a locked case! Needless to say, i didn't get any glasses there. Or contacts. I just took my prescription, and will take it to costco or online to get my contacts. And it's not that i'm cheap. i would have bought them there, but i just simply didn't want to give them my business for being rude to me. I don't know why. Oh, the doctor was nice. Ha, doesn't surprise me this ass of a doctor has 2 stars on Yelp. I was a patient here for years and every single family member of mine hated Dr. Martinez and his front desk people. I don't know why it took us so long to switch doctors - maybe cuz I was a kid and didn't have a say? Tina was always very rude to my parents and when I told Dr. Martinez I wanted contacts he refused to give them to me. He would literally interrupt me and not let me finish what I was saying. For years I kept asking for contacts and he didn't want to give them to me. I was baffled! I was at the point where I needed glasses to see. If I didn't wear them I couldn't read or watch tv comfortably, but I hated wearing glasses everyday, which is why contacts were invented in the first place. For years he would refuse my request for contacts stating my eye sight wasn't severe enough to require contacts. Then I thought to myself...WHY do I keep coming here if my eye doctor is rude and won't give me what I want?? So I went to Dr. Hernandez in Duarte and she was so polite and sweet. She checked out my eyes and without hesitation gave me a prescription for contacts and I've never been happier. I was a candidate for contacts and she had no problem giving them to me. He just doesn't know how to talk to people. But the staff here: they made him lose a customer. The older lady pretty much scolded me because I picked "big frames." If I'm paying for glasses, just shut up and take my money. I even brought it up to the younger girl there, and she didn't seem to care. She said she would address it with her but i doubt she did. Daniel T Martinez is the worst eye doctor out here Baldwin Park, California. He genuinely does NOT care for his patients. He is only in it for the money. He is a clear example of what a doctor should NOT be. In September 2015, my mom took my ten-year-old brother to this snob for the first time. As he was assessing my brother's vision, my brother responded respectively to arrogant Martinez. However, Martinez was not reciprocating. After presenting a few projected letters on the screen, Martinez asked my brother a question about his vision, to which my brother started to elaborate. Unfortunately, my brother was not able to finish when this money monger shut my little brother down and said "I don't care. I DID NOT ASK YOU THAT." It is clear from this response that Martinez was not interested in really helping my brother evaluate his vision as accurately as possible. Instead, Martinez is only concerned with getting people in and out of his office, doing the bare minimum, and cashing out in the end. I am 22 years old. I visited this egotistical rude ass for the first time when I was 14. He was also rude to me then. If I had known that my brother was going to be seen by Martinez, I would have advised my mom to go to another doctor. He does not have a true desire to help people. His behaviors show no effort to benefit the interests of his patients. In fact, he is only doing this for himself. If you want to be seen by a genuine and caring doctor whose goal is to improve a person's vision in a respectable space and be treated well, I advise you DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT even step into Daniel T. I have been going to this eye doctor for about 3 years I always like to keep my business locally. I've spent hundreds of dollars between my wife and myself on high end frames and visits. You would think that would give me some level of accommodation however small. I was very disappointed that when my wife went there and ask for a note to verify on a previous visit there was no major issues with her eyesight THEY ASKED HER TO PAY AN ADDITIONAL $15.00 to get a copy of the visit she had had only a 2 mod earlier. We asked if they could waive that the receptionist promptly said there were NO EXCEPTION EVEN FOR GOOD CUSTOMERS. Clearly this place now no interest in retaining a good CUST. Wouldn't want to help me after they wanted to charge me a ridiculous amount for contact lenses (over $200 when I found them online for about $100). Dr. Martinez is rude and condescending. Would not give me different options on contacts. Basically told me to either pay for the one's he's prescribing or get out. Of course, not without paying for the exam first. Every Optometrist I have ever been too has always been kind. They really have always been happy to answer any questions and concerns. I do not feel the same way towards Daniel Martinez. Every question I asked, was followed by an answer in a tone as if I was bothering him. He did not even make eye contact during his answers. There was no one there. So it could not be because he is busy. It is what it is. Oh and another thing, the Dr. had this probe thing to check the stress of my eyeball. He quickly grew impatient, and he was upset because I couldn't stay still while he was probing my eye. Then he said to me in a insulting way. "I wouldn't give you my recommendation for eye contact!s" That pissed me off. I think the staff ok, they seem like there are dying of boredom. I could understand that. But I was annoyed when I got my glasses fitted. I got plastic frames. So they heat up the frames to mold it to my face. This chick did not know what she was doing! Worse experience took me 7 visits to get issue with prescription sunglasses fixed and finally changed out I didn't use them not one time and frame was not holding shape! I came here for years and my family too and when I experienced an issue I expected dr to take ownership he said it wasn't his fault I picked frames that I shouldn't have I bought the frames from his office and expected them to be to a standard I spent over $400 on a designer frame and never got to use them I had to go back many times to practically argue with dr and staff to fix issue finally dr got tired of seeing me return on that 7th visit he changed them out but never returning I expect a service I paid for and I paid for glasses to function properly he was rude, lack of ownership, and frankly just ignorant to the fact that he's providing a service and as a business professional people go to a place for expertise and he expects the consumer to be liable for defect in a product he sold. My daughter had a incident at the laundry and she had to be rushed to the eye doctor whom check her eyes and gave her treatment. It was about 2 minutes way from the clinic and the doctor saved her eye sight from getting damaged by the Clorox that felt onto her eyes. Then we took her to the hospital which the doctor in turn said it was the best decision for us to have done. Today 9/24/14 was my 5yr olds first time going to a Eye Dr. and it was horrible. The Dr walked into the exam room didn't even introduce himself, and went straight to work on my son. He started showing my son different letters in different sizes (small, large) Now mind you he is Five Years Old, so he was getting his letters a little mixed up and he was having trouble seeing the letters from a far distance. So the Dr asked me if he knows his letters and I said, Yes! So he went on to show my son some more letters, then asks my son if he knows his letters and he said, Yes! So the Dr shakes his head and said, "Idk why kids have to lie about knowing there Alphabets, why cant they just tell the truth and say they don't know them I hate when kids lie." I was in shock and speechless. I'm a Bitch, but this was my sons first visit ever and he was in the room so I stayed quiet and let him do his thing got the prescription and told the receptionist in front of there other customers what the Dr did and to throw away all of my sons info out don't call me.
