This place here has become my run too place my home where I go when I'm in trouble, my dogs continue to get a hold of my glasses and we'll others stores and I've been to them all Lens Crafters makes you wait up to 10 days two weeks. Shapiro nice but still gotta wait. I need these glasses right now!!!!! This is my first Yelp review, I was so impressed by the service received by Doctor Patel and his staff that I felt compelled to actually put my account to use and write a review. Let me begin by saying that I am a 29 year old male, I recently turned 29 and it's funny, I swear that the day of my birthday was the day I finally said "Okay, you can't fool yourself anymore, it's time for glasses". I honestly just googled a nearby optometry and quickly (in seconds) chose one based on the reviews to help me with getting my first ever pair of glasses. I made a same day appointment with Dr. Patel, and I am glad I did. I arrived and was greeted promptly by the staff and soon after by Dr. Patel. I told him that it was my first time getting an eye exam in perhaps 20 years, and all this was very foreign to me but he was understanding and guided me through the exam in a professional manner. I am somewhat of an anatomy nerd and asked him what seemed to be a million questions regarding the anatomy of the eye, since he showed me detailed pictures of my own (fascinating, might I add) and he answered them all in great detail and with humor (ever consider being a college professor, doc?). Anyways, after the exam was done, I showed him some frames that I came in with and he was able to quickly insert my prescription in them which saved me the cost of buying frames. Just two weeks later, those frames were broken but the lenses in tact, so I got the same frames again, and he swapped the lenses at no cost to me. I'm a total noob with glasses, and he went through basic care techniques, what to do and not do, etc. Overall I was very pleased, I couldn't say one bad thing about him or his staff, thanks for a great experience guys! read more

First time getting my eyes checked. Needed glasses. The optometrist did a great job explaining everything to me. Unfortunately when my glasses shipped out there was a issue with the pair that got sent back. No problem. They found a pair similar and I was out the door that same day. After a week I was unsatisfied with the frames I got. Still not an issue. Went back and had the frames swapped. This is my first experience, but I can tell this is not the norm. Read some of these negative reviews and am surprised. To me, going to a stand alone practice like this reaps the benefits. You get a family practice vibe, a focused and sincere experience! I have personally seen this doctor repair glasses and exchange glasses for no cost. He's been around for years and is very reliable. That reputation goes beyond words especially these days when you have big companies commercializing the optometric sector! I have been getting my glasses here for years and have never run into any problems and would recommend this optometrist to anyone! Regarding price, you get what you pay for. I have never had a full eye exam in the past and i thought it was time for one. I went in after work and was quickly attended to and filled out the very short application. Dr. Patel quickly verified my Vision Care Plan and let me know what i qualify for. The Eye Exam was quick and efficient. The Dr. quickly told me i may need glasses to which i was OK with, since my Vision Plan covered some of the cost. After everything was said and done, i have my eye exam and new glasses ordered, picked them up a week later and now i see everything clearly. Great experience. I walked in and got my glasses the same day Dr. Patel is a really nice guy and very knowledgeable about eyes. He informed me about the astigmatisms in my eyes and explained in detail what it meant and how we could correct it. Worth stopping by and checking out their selection of frames. I walked in with no appointment. Dr Patel was professional. His work was fast and thorough.he thought me a lot about my own eyes and how the eyes work, etc. the prices were very reasonable/affordable. I can now watch the Lakers game and see the scores!!... Oh wait.. But the way they've been playing this year, I think it was better when I couldn't tell what the score was.. :(. - I'm still hopeful of a championship though! read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Patel's for many years. Even though he exemplifies the superior service and patient care, I will not be returning to his practice anymore. I recently have met my quota of unprofessional service given by his receptionists. Over the years, it seems his staff has deteriorated in the expectation of customer service standards. I have had my glasses lost upon arriving to pick them up. Only to have to return another day to pick up my replacements. I have had the same happen to my contacts this past year. I was told that my contacts " were given to someone else in error". After these unfortunate incidents and many more in between, I still returned to Dr. Patel. Call me crazy, but I appreciated his kind demeanor. Though today, this will be last time I will be visiting his office. His office hours are listed as opening at 11am. Upon arriving at his office at 11:11am, the office was still closed. Lights were off and no answer on the buisness phone. After calling the office again at 11:20am, I explained to the receptionist that I was here for the 3rd time, to order my contacts. She advised me that the doctor was not in until 12:30pm. I told her that she did not advise me of the change. Only to be told that he may not even be here today until closer to 1pm, because that was his first appointment for the day. This receptionist was very rude and uninviting. She was very argumentative. Instead of pacifying the situation, she put the blame on me for not understanding that the office hours changed according to doctor's request. I was advised to call in next time to confirm that the doctor was in. But answer me this. How am I supposed to call in when, no one answers? read more

When I went there, I tried to get my glasses with my prescription, but it did not accept my vision insurance EyeMed. Eventually, I went to Sears to get my glasses. The prices at Sears are more affordable than The Plaza Optometry. So I would choose Sears in the future rather than this optometry. The cheapest section of this optometry are cost $150(only the frame). Like Guess brand, it costs $280, it's so expensive. I would not recommend this optometry to anyone. read more

He charged 100 bucks for one box of contacts that only contained 6 contacts, that's 3 for each eye. I looked up online how much that same exact box cost and it's only 30 bucks on multiple websites. Now I only have 30 bucks left for the year on my eye plan, I asked him how much contacts can I get for the 30 bucks left on my plan and he told only one pair! Wow! This guys a rip-off! Stay away! He didn't even dilate my eyes during the exam. Not to mention he refused to fix the glasses I bought from him a year ago and tells me I should just buy new ones! He was so nice and helpful before and even gave me the correct amount of contact lenses of what my insurance paid him. IDK what changed with him but he's no good, he's a snake, earning ur trust in the beginning so he can screw u over in the end. read more

Don't Trust this Guy! He tried to tell me that a year supply of contacts was 1 box of contacts each. Literally this guy's hands me 2 boxes. I've ordered a year supply of contacts same brand from 1-800 contacts and they give me 8 box of contacts. I can't believe this doctor straight lies to me and tells me different businesses sells different lenses! I get home it's the exact same brand has my old prescriptions I still had extra boxes of last year's supply. I also had some lens made here for $250 and they scratch so easily. Dr. Patel starts off really charming and nice, but in the end he cheats you! No cool. Will not be returning here and demanding my year supply as ordered and created of. read more

Yup, this is as good as it gets! My girlfriend and I had tried all the places nearby looking for a replacement for my bent old glasses, and nothing came close to the selections that the place offered. The prices were very reasonable, and Dr. Patel is extremely genuine. He was very attentive to my needs and detail-oriented in his work. We really need more doctors like him. My glasses were ready in just half an hour! I not only walked out with a pair of new awesome glasses, but I also had my bent old glasses fixed free of charge by Dr. Patel, and it took Dr. Patel more time to unbend my glasses than to make my lens!
