After getting fed up with other people's comments about my body, I decided to do elective surgery for gynecomastia (man boobies). I called around and got a few consultations, but the sales lady at Dr. Brown's office really got me. She sold me on the fact that Dr. Brown was a specialist in gyno and would be my best option. She also sold me on Dr. Brown being "so good" that he didn't need to leave tubes in me after the surgery. This is why it was botched. Other surgeons would have used drainage tubes which would have prevented this. The surgery ended up getting botched and my left nipple looks worse than before. A staph infection built up and eventually exploded outwards, ruining my nipple forever. The good: -Dr. Brown was a decently nice guy and most of his staff was cool. -When my nipple burst, they patched me up for free and quickly. -They offered to try and fix it at their cost. The bad: -They definitely could have acted quicker when the infection became obvious. They started by prescribing me the wrong antibiotics which allowed the infection to swell even more. -They tried to blame the infection on me, suggesting that I did not follow recovery guidelines after a couple of comments I made (this is bull, they were covering for themselves). -Dr. Brown kept gas lighting me on the follow up visits saying "wow, everything looks so good" and ignoring my displeasure at the results. -The NP dropped my valium on the HOSPITAL FLOOR and then MADE ME TAKE IT. Lady, for $9,000 get me another valium! Disgusting. -The emergency hotline for weekends is BS. After my nipple burst, I waited for 6 hours for a call back. Leaking puss and blood the entire time. -Dr. Brown did not shave the surgery site. I'm no surgeon, but I'm pretty sure you are suppose to do that. I'm a hairy guy. HOW WAS HE SUPPOSE TO SEE WHAT HE WAS DOING? I was shocked when I woke up and saw all of my hair was still there. Overall, I deeply regret choosing Dr. Brown as my surgeon. I should have gone with the guy who was gonna use the tubes and not listened to the sales lady. I feel just as self conscious about my body, if not more, than before. $9,000 wasted and I don't think it can be fixed. read more

This is something I had considered for 10 YEARS, but was always so afraid of the results and how it would affect my body. Botched surgery. Wound got infected and they didn't treat the swelling in time. Wound burst and permanent scarring occurred. End result was worse than what I was getting corrected in the first place. Dr brown kept gaslighting me saying "this looks great" when it simply did not. I wish I had gone with one of the other surgeons. Don't walk... but RUN AWAY from this doctor!!! 3 years ago I received a bellesoma breast lift and augmentation that (literally) ruined my life. I'm 22 years old and I've had 3 revisions after my surgery with Dr. Brown, two of which were performed by Dr. Dubrow's "botched." Dr. Brown left me botched. In our consultation I told him I wanted a breast lift + augmentation. I had lost a lot of weight resulting in sagging breasts (prior to my surgery with him). I wanted to have lots of perky upper pole volume which would be achieved by a high profile implant. Dr. Brown said I couldn't get the results I wanted by a regular breast lift because my tissue was too weak and I would have to get them every 5-10 years. Dr. Brown convinced me to get a bellesoma breast lift and do a second surgery 6 months later to put implants in. I really did not like the look and scars of the bellesoma but preferred the scars to the vertical lift... 3 months after my augmentation, I find out that I was Dr. browns first patient he has ever put implants in after a bellesoma!! Side note: The bellesoma + lift is 25k compared to breast lift + Aug is 15k. Around this time I also noticed my implants were starting to bottom out. When I called, they said it was due to my skin laxity and my weak tissue and in order to fix the problem I'd have to spend another 12k for operating room fees and anesthesia.... At this point, knowing that I was Dr. browns first patient he had put implants in after a bellosama (after the fact!!) I felt like I couldn't trust him. And the fact he would even try to make me pay to fix the problem made me livid. I was left with large scars, a double bubble, and horrible bottoming out. Ive been so insecure these past three years and it's taken a huge toll on my mental health. If I would do things differently I would have never gotten surgery to begin with!!! read more

I had inner thigh, inner knee and frank liposuctions and fat grafting to my breasts. I was told 70% of the fat will remain and I will be able to have full cup. He was so confident about it but my breast were all gone after six months and result of my inner thigh lipo was uneven with big dents as you see on the picture. Let me preface this by saying I like the size and shape of the breasts. But after undergoing a breast lift I was left with huge scars that make me ashamed and prevent me from feeling comfortable in my body at all. I've been severely depressed and the scars have left me feeling so insecure. Dr. Brown convinced me to do a breast lift when I didn't want to, saying the scarring would be very minimal. He said the scaring around the areola would blend into my skin. DO NOT BELIEVE HIM. My scar is about a half inch thick on both breast. And no, it's not a keloid scar, just a bad scar. When I sent pictures to the doctor, he said it was MY fault and that my weight must have fluctuated and caused the skin to stretch...my weight has NOT fluctuated more than five pounds. I asked if there was anything he could do and he says that he wants to do a vertical lift to fix it. So, more scars to fix these scars. I'm frustrated because I feel like I was lied to. I was told this procedure leaves a very small white line. It wasn't explained to me that the scar might stretch leaving a wide, unsightly scar. Now I have to live my life embarrassed to ever take off my top in front of anyone even myself and Dr. Brown blames me for the poor result instead of taking responsibility. Such a shame. Please do not go to the doctor, he completely ruined me after a breast lift with implants. The stitches didn't hold together and ended up splitting by nipple completely apart. UPDATE: the office is totally misleading regarding their charges. After my previous experience, the surgeon called me to apologize and asked I give them another chance. Reluctantly, I emailed Melanie regarding how much they'll charge for an extended tummy tuck. Keep in mind, she had already told me they typically charge $8k-12k depending on depth of procedure, and that lipo is included in that cost! She also bragged that Dr. Brown does so much work that most other places would charge $20k for. So I patiently awaited their quote... and red flags went up immediately. Melanie said in the email that they included a monsplasty in the price (which I do not need or want), and when I opened the proposal, the base charge for a TT (and monsplasty that isn't even listed in the description) is over $9k alone, and then they charge $2,300 for EACH section of your abdomen that needs lipo on top of that!! They also added in an additional $500 pain killer without me asking for that or asking me about it first. So my total price is over $19k. SERIOUSLY? That's twice as much as quoted, they're throwing in other procedures I didn't ask to be quoted for and didn't discuss with them, extra pain meds I didn't ask for, AND I had initially specifically asked if lipo was included... she did NOT mention its many, many thousands of dollars more on top of the cost of the TT. I am SO BEYOND disappointed because I was hopeful that I'd be able to work with this office following my previous experience. The surgeon seemed nice... so although reluctant, I obviously was willing to give it another go. Oh well. Very sad and embarrassed with my experience so far with this office. I was initially in contact with Melanie shortly after inquiring about a tummy tuck on Thursday, July 20th. We had a long talk about my desired surgery and she described all these wonderful things about the office. I wanted to do a consultation with the surgeon and she said it'd be a faster process if I emailed her several photos of myself wearing close to nothing so the surgeon could review and give me a virtual consultation because they're too busy for an in person initial consult. Being that it was Thursday afternoon, she said the surgeon was already out for the day and has surgery scheduled for all of Friday, so he'd be right back to me early the following week. Now I feel like my photos are floating around for anyone to see... how can I trust a place to perform major surgery on me when they can't even follow through with the simplest task of emailing or calling me back? I told her that my goal was to have the body of my dreams before my husband gets back from deployment early next year, guess that's not happening... I'm scared to even contact another surgeon after this experience. Horrible feeling. I recently had the Bellesoma breast reduction procedure performed by Dr. Brown. First off, I had set up several consultations with several plastic surgeons in the San Diego area. And when Dr. Brown performed his examination, I was still just as comfortable. You know how certain people who are extremely intelligent lack some social skills? Dr. Brown happens to possess both skills, and was very relatable and knows how to get on your level. That day I decided I was going to have my procedure done by him, and didn't even go through with my other consultations with other surgeons. The procedure experience was not what I expected. Instead of going to a hospital, I went to a small cosmetic surgery center in Del Mar. It made me feel so much more comfortable, while still feeling just as clean and professional. My anesthesiologist had called me the night before to introduce herself, and was so friendly the day of. The nurses definitely helped me feel at ease. Everyone was very communicative with my husband, and sat down and explained to him all of my medications and everything I would need. This all goes to show that Dr. Brown goes above and beyond to make every step comfortable for his patients. As for the results of my procedure- I could not be happier. I feel so natural and comfortable in my own skin, and I'm only two and a half weeks post-op. Dr. Brown knew exactly what size to take my breasts down to in order to still look natural on my body, and the lift is FANTASTIC. We discussed my favorite photos, used 3D imaging, and tried different silicone sizers to choose the perfect implant size. The Best ever! I have been coming to Dr Brown for about seven years now and I will never see another doctor! I've had Botox, fillers and smart Lipo on my stomach. Dr. Brown is a perfectionist in all that he does. His work is so natural and well thought out. He is a great listener and does exactly what he says he's going to do-- he doesn't try to add extra things that I don't need and can't afford. I'm small framed and was getting bigger and bigger in my stomach area and I felt like all I could see when I looked in the mirror was my gut. I was frustrated too because I exercise and eat well. I would never have considered going under the knife for this but when I learned about Smart Lipo, I decided to inquire about it with Dr. Brown. My breasts have terrible scars and my nipples are not even close to a circle. I went for a reduction and burst implant. I trusted Dr. Brown. The surgery went well, recovery went well but when I saw my scars and what was left of my nipples, I was very sad and disheartened. I had texted Dr Brown the pictures of how the stitches were not even close to holding the skin together. I was told that they would heal properly. My breasts look great in a bra and are smaller but I am so ashamed of the scars that I can't post a picture. I just don't want that out there for anyone to see. I would say that Dr. Brown is average and you should expect an average result. Not bad, not great but you will have a healthy surgery and recovery. My chest has always been large, and by the time I saw Dr. Brown (at 21 years old) I was a GG cup. My chest looked a little ridiculous with my frame (5'5", 160lbs), and it was causing all the classic shoulder/neck/back/posture issues, not to mention a slew of mental/self-esteem issues as well. One day I just woke up and knew it was time to find a surgeon and get this done.  I met with other surgeons, but I knew as soon as I had my consultation that Dr. Brown was the surgeon for me. I was completely comfortable with him and his staff, who were all absolutely wonderful. We went through some issues with insurance and the whole staff was amazing. Melanie Mason, the Patient Care Coordinator, was especially supportive and always helpful. She even gave me her cell number to call or text with any questions.  Dr. Brown was very calm and comforting, and I was very comfortable around him even as he had to measure and take photos of my chest before the surgery. The procedure itself went as smoothly as possible; I was up and walking the next day and off of the pain meds in three days. The work he did was phenomenal--my chest is completely symmetrical and I went down six whole cup sizes (a pound off of each side!). The incisions were neat and are already starting to look like thin scars after just three weeks. Dr. Brown also gave my mother and I his cell number so that I could text or call if there were any issues in the first few weeks. I did quite a bit of research into finding an amazing surgeon after having major issues, pain, problems with my Breast implants I had from a different previous plastic surgeon in SD. I read through all of his achievements and articles about him being the top best Surgeon in his field specializing in reconstruction & dealing with the harder cases/ issues in plastic surgery. I made an appointment and spoke with both Valerie & Melanie who both were also just very amazing, attentive, always making themselves available to any and all my questions. After having my appointment I felt very confident, pleased, that I found Dr. Daniel Brown, he was very honest, professional throughout the entire process. Both Valerie & Melanie were always there for me through out my procedures and surgeries they were all just honestly the Best! After my surgery I followed all directions given to me and I healed well & fast! And damn did my breast look AMAZING!!! I ended up removing my old implants and opted for having my own fat filled into my breast with a lift, thee best decision I have made was choosing Dr. Daniel Brown!!!!!! Fantastic Job! I recently had a breast augmentation and Dr. Brown has got to be one of the best doctors in SoCal. I was truly impressed with not only the results but by the staff as well. Dr.. Brown is across the board one of the best medical providers I have encountered in the last several years. He is a welcome addition to San Diego and heaven knows we need more physicians like him that actually care and aren't a part of the HMO "monster" that has literally decimated all elements of health care over the last twenty years. Especially as it pertains to patient care, availability of appointments and accessibility to needed treatments and services. I was referred to Dr. Brown by a friend who insisted that I see him. I have a scar that has needed revision for more years than I care to recall and I felt it was time to finally investigate the possibilities of what could be done at my tender young age (ha ha).... At first I felt going to Dr. Brown would be a big sales pitch for all the procedures that folks my age (46) are seeking or need (Botox anyone?) which has prevented me from actually seeking consultation with a surgeon that specializes in this area of medicine. Well low and behold there is surgeon who is a specialist in cosmetic surgery that doesn't have an attitude, exhibits a high level of intellectualism and knowledge in his area and who treats his patients as patients...not some number that needs to be met or someone who is cutting into their HMO formula (oops your ten minutes are up, you're out of here..sorry I was six minutes late getting in here says the HMO Doc). Dr. Brown did a thorough consultation with me, explained the benefits of what my procedure would entail and was an all around pleasant individual, let alone physician to be around. Funny thing is I even inquired about those types of procedures that people my age (and younger) like to have that preserve their youth and all I am going to say is that I am intrigued and if I were to have such a procedure Dr. Brown would be the only person I would EVER let or trust facilitate such procedures. His office staff is friendly and the service is exceptional. You are really made to feel welcome and you especially are made to feel safe so that an open and honest dialogue can be had and a treatment plan can be made to fit your individual needs. I say if something is going to make you feel better about yourself then do it!!!! Forget about the haters or the people who have other opinions about aging and what should or shouldn't be done. Dr. Brown restored my confidence in my skin. I had a couple of botched mole removals that left dark scars and partial moles. I felt so uncomfortable in my skin and became incredibly insecure. I found Dr.Brown online, scheduled a mole removal and it went great! The staff was really friendly and Dr.Brown really listened to what I wanted. After the procedure, I was still unsure how the scars were going to heal but his aftercare recommendations were amazing and really helped the healing process. I got my augmentation years ago. Dr brown was very nice and seemed professional. Unfortunately now that a few years have passed I started noticing issues of severe pain and my implants sitting wrong. I soon Began to not even be able to wear a normal bra due to the pain and couldn't even lay in my left side. I no longer live in CA and went to a surgeon in the state that I live in. After a consultation I decided to fix them. I'm so glad I did. The recovery has been horrible due to the amount of damage that needed to be fixed internally from my previous augmentation. I see so many good reviews and I don't doubt them and so happy for those who have had wonderful results. It wasn't a recent decision that I wanted to get a rhinoplasty, I had always been uncomfortable with my nose. It's not that it was particularly awful, I just never thought it suited myself, or my face. Only recently though, has actually doing this procedure become more real, when I knew I wouldn't JUST be thinking about it anymore, I knew I was going to do it. So I looked into doctors, found Dr. Browns page rather quickly and decided I would have to meet with him after reading his extensive qualifications (I also liked his private life section, hes a huge animal lover!). Now, Im someone who needs to research reviews on an eyeshadow for a week before buying it, so I figured I'd be seeing 100 different surgeons about this. But the first time I met Dr. Brown, and his incredible nurse Liz, I knew I wouldn't have to see anyone else. We all three connected and they completely understood all my goals I had in mind for my nose. They made all the stupid ways I described my ideas for this surgery : "take off the bump and make the tip look less..ball-ish" sound like..well, exactly what I had in mind. I felt at ease here, something I did not expect to feel at any Dr's office. Dr. Brown has given me the most beautiful new nose, swelling is still going down *as it does for about a year after rhinoplasty* but It is already exactly what I had wanted. He shaved down my hump, removed some cartilage from the tip of my nose to slender it out and lifted the tip so it is slightly perkier. My new nose fits my face and myself perfectly, it is so much softer looking and makes my eyes look larger. Go and see Dr. Brown if you have any cosmetic surgery desires, consultations are free and so are follow up appointments after the surgery!! First time ever getting cosmetic surgery. And let me tell you, I've never had such an amazing experience . This was my first cosmetic surgery done and i went in for a breast aug.
