AVOID AT ALL COSTS I had a rhinoplasty and gynecomastia surgery with Dr. Mofid, and both the experience and results were very disappointing. Through out every appointment he always seemed rushed and irritated, as if my questions were an inconvenience. Every visit felt uncomfortable and dismissive and he always seemed like he was trying to get out of the room as soon as possible. After my rhinoplasty, my nose was left asymmetrical, with a large residual bump, a droopy tip, and hanging columella which haven't improved over time. My nose looks completely different when looking at it from the right versus the left because of this bump. When I brought up my concerns, the doctor refused to acknowledge any issue and dismissed it by saying he doesn't know what I'm talking about and that he thinks "my nose looks fine". He offered to "file it down" in-office for another $2,000 -- but even it was completely free I wouldn't trust him to do it. I met with two other surgeons who also agree that with my concerns but Dr Mofid couldn't even bring himself to acknowledge the lack of quality in his results. The gynecomastia surgery was also unsatisfactory. My chest was left uneven, with one areola becoming inverted and the other remaining puffy. My concerns were brushed off with little to no explanation or care. After seeing other patients report similar experiences, I wish I had listened sooner. BEWARE!! REGRET USING THIS DOCTOR. TOTAL NIGHTMARE!! I put off writing this review in hopes that Dr. Mofid would address my concerns. I originally had a breast augmentation with him, I did my research and felt confident moving forward seeing that he had good reviews overall. BELIEVE THE FEW BAD REVIEWS. I noticed initially something was off with my left breast but repeatedly he reassured me "everything is fine, looks good" his words exactly. My left breast is compressed, flat and tight against my chest, rides high and because it's not positioned properly my right breast is descending more. It's uncomfortable & feels tight, it's also very obvious looking at it. He continued to tell me I'm healing normal so naturally I trusted his judgement and waited. I made several follow up appointments where he continued to reassure me that things were fine. I even sought a 2nd opinion where the doctor validated my concerns, suggested a possible solution to address it. After this, I went back to Dr. Mofid as one final attempt to get some answers. After all, I spent an enormous amount of money on this and it's my body I deserve to know what's going on with MY body. I followed up once again and he agreed to do an MRI and used the diagnostics code for capsular contracture even though he ruled this out during a physical exam. The MRI came back remarkable & didn't report any problems. I was scheduled to come in for a follow up and he said everything is fine, chose to not question or further investigate my concerns or remotely give me an suggestions on what could be going on and how to fix it. At this point I have searched online and also have gotten a second opinion so I was hoping I could address it with the surgeon who originally operated on me. I was hoping Dr. Mofid's extensive experience would ensure he had the ability to identify and propose a solution when a complication arises. INSTEAD I WAS GASLIT, CONTINUOUSLY DISMISSED. I even stopped pursuing answers and reaching out because the situation became so overwhelming. What once was a huge goal and award to myself for graduating became a total nightmare experience. He's a very nice doctor something happens that threatens his ego. I'm an understanding person and realize we're all human and things happen it's the chance you take with any surgery. For a doctor to dismiss serious concerns is DANGEROUS. The more time that has gone on without this being properly addressed the worse it's gotten & it's an expensive fix. What could've been a simple complication has now developed into worsening chronic complications as it's left unaddressed. It's completely ruined my confidence and has created enormous amount of financial strain and stress in my life. The nurses have been supportive from the start but as for Dr. Mofid he refuses to acknowledge that there's anything that can be improved and says nothing is wrong when you can visually see there is. I'm devastated. I've exhausted all of my energy, all of my funds on this surgery and trying to seek answers as to what is going on and how to fix it. He was quick to take my money and even quicker to dismiss my concerns. At the end of the day, he is a human and complications do happen, but I would've appreciated for him to further investigate what was going on and help come up with the solution considering he was the one that went to medical school with extensive knowledge. I believe because it threatened his ego, and doesn't represent the majority of operations he performs it was easier for him to brush it off rather than address it after all. He already got paid... I'm the one that has to live with the complications and now I'm left on my own to figure wrong with MY BODY and how to fix it. It's unbelievable to me that a 5 star La Jolla surgeon with and much experience as him can't see that my boobs are crooked, the breast never dropped properly and they don't sit right. It's not only an appearance issue the right one feels fine. The left one does not feel right. Clearly something more is going on, but Dr. Mofid doesn't make mistakes apparently he's perfect. CONSIDER THE FEW BAD REVIEWS AND BE CAREFUL WHO YOU TRUST WITH YOUR BODY. A HARD AND VERY EXPENSIVE LESSON TO LEARN, The last thing I want to do is post photos of myself on the internet but if this saves someone from experiencing similar issues then so be it. Technically the surgery was done correctly however when post op complications arose Dr Mofid was responsible for me getting septic twice after buttock implants. The first time was related to inadequate post op instructions that let to a severe bacterial infection. This happened over the weekend and I was not able to reach him over the weekend. Monday he had me go into emergency surgery to remove only the right buttocks implant. He said the other side was fine . I was in extreme pain and had no energy due to the sepsis and eventually improved and went home after 3 weeks . That was not the end of it however After completing my oral antibiotics I started getting pain deep in the left buttocks and I complained about it to him. He said it was normal and was incisional . I called his office again in a few more weeks and they gave me more antibiotics It got better . After they were done the pain resumed . Went back to his office and brought up that the pain was always coming back after the antibiotics stopped. He said it was nothing to worry about. Soon after I got a fever and septic again and went back to ER. Dr Mofid blamed it on possible HIV or other infection All the test came back negative Finally he ordered an MRI which showed a fluid collection around the implant There was bacteria stuck to the implant and it was finally removed I had a wound vac twice and this whole thing took 6 months to heal. No partial refund was made despite all my pain and suffering and losing $16000 for the surgery Lost six months of wages and my credit score is destroyed read more

HELP MY FACE! - Dr Mofid, great - Staff, great - Office, clean I've had ideas that'd I'd come see a Plastic surgeon for things I want. But there is a difference with want vs need. Never had I need to see a plastic surgeon... UNTIL I had a motorcycle accident (yes I had a helmet on and still sustained major injuries) and went into surgery the day I was admitted to the trauma unit because my face obviously needed immediate attention. This is in regards to major physical injuries, not the small injuries. I met Dr Mofid at Scripps La Jolla. My face was bloody and bandaged up. I was rolled from my hospital room down to the operating room. I had head trauma as well so I don't remember much of anything. However I remember Dr Mofid explaining what he plans to do and what my injuries looked like (I had no idea what my body/injuries were or looked like at the time, all I remember was knowing my name and I was in the hospital for some reason). I remember Dr Mofid saying I lost layers and at that time I couldn't comprehend the extent of my injuries. Surgery happened and I woke up the next day in my hospital room with a less bloody face and medical staff fixing my bandages. It wasn't until my 3rd day I was able to get up and look at myself in the bathroom and decided to peak under my bandages. I saw the side that was put back together and was very pleased with his clean work - my face was no longer sliced open. The other side was when I saw the hole. And also saw the laceration between my eyes. That moment I thought I was going to have to get skin graphing on the hole at some point. As time went on I kept bugging the medical staff what's next and how to care for these whenever I get discharged. 1.5 weeks later I saw Dr Mofid at his office for a follow up. Close to Scripps hospital. Staff are extremely friendly. When I arrived I was very insecure of how my face looked compared to everyone (staff and patiences) very beautiful. I get it, I'm at a Plastic Surgeon's office. I didn't wait long in the waiting room and on time was escorted to the private exam rooms. I was still panicked about the hole and was told to keep addressing it with the gauze and ointment as I've been because it needs more healing before anything could be done. He is the professional so I will have to trust him on this one. 5.5 weeks later, another follow up appointment and the plan. By then much much much improvement. More than half my face has new skin since it was road rash/scabbed but lots of hyperpigmentation. The side he fixed and put sutchers looks really good in healing. He also put sutchers at the outer end slit of my left eye and you can't even tell I had injury there. I'm glad I trusted his judgements regarding no sutchers for the laceration between my eyes otherwise it would have healed funky. It is healing on its own and well. As for the nastiest looking injury, the hole, it closed up! No skin graphing, nothing. Just advise how to handle with care. However dark scarring (graphite scarring from hitting cement at 40-45mph) and hard scar tissue that kind of bulges out. Dr Mofid has recommended other Dr's for laser treatment to remove the graphite scarring. And then will be returning once that is done for other treatments to flatten the scar and such. In the meantime, was given some expensive scar gel to help since I have hyperpigmentation all over. I have injuries on feet, legs, chest, shoulder, and all over my face. Dr. Mofid doesn't care about his patients, I wouldn't recommend his work. He constantly ignored anything I said and he would just enter the room and take pictures during my check ups. The workers are also very rude and don't do their job, I got an infection from my surgery and they wouldn't even bother coming in to clean the wound. They also sold me some cheap bra for $60 that you can get at Walmart for $6, with the excuse of it being sterilized when it wasn't. read more

I am a 67 yr old woman and have always looked younger than my years but the skin on my upper eyelids had gotten to the point that I felt it would interfere with my vision at some point so I sought an upper Blepharoplasty to correct it. I saw Dr Mark Mofid who talked me into upper and lower Blepharoplasty. Dr Mofid performed the surgery in June 2024. While the upper turned out fine, the lower was a disaster. I went back to see him 1 day after surgery, again to remove sutures and a 3rd time 3 1/2 months post surgery because I had significant issues with the results. At this last appointment, I asked to see the before surgery pics and Dr Mofid said they forgot to take pics. I recall pics were not taken prior to surgery so I assumed they were going to be taken while under anesthesia. Silly me. Dr Mofid said it will be fine and practically shoved me out the door but not before referring me to a nurse who works for him. It was suggested that I make 3 different appts at $500 each for a nurse to inject me with filler so both eyes would look similar rather than one completely flat and one that was not. I declined to do so. I am writing this review almost 10 months post surgery. As a result of the surgery, I have a highly visible one inch scar line under my right eye and a chunk of scar tissue at the outside corner of each eye. The numbness in my right cheek did not go away for 7 months. To this day, I have severe dry eye and I am still under the care of an Ophthalmologist and at one time had to use 3 different prescription meds for my eyes and wear dark full coverage sun glasses over my regular prescription sunglasses. I currently need to use eye drops at least 15 times a day. I've seen a specialist and having been doing lymphatic massages on my face for the past 4 months which has helped somewhat to even out the lump under my left eye. I recently saw 2 different plastic surgeons regarding revision surgery for the scar line, etc and was told it would not work for the scar line because then I wouldn't be able to fully close my right eye. Both surgeons advised they no longer do the trans oral approach surgery (via access through the mouth) because of all the complications. Dr Mofid does this trans oral approach and the recovery time is very long, very painful and the results are horrible. For obvious reasons, I would never recommend Dr Mofid for surgery and caution others to look elsewhere. I attempted to uploaded a pic of my scar but was unable to do so. Although I depend on reviews prior to purchasing things, I've only left 3 reviews in my entire life. I was contacted by the office coordinator (Olivia) who stated the doctor may have been having a bad day. He was upset with my review and she offered another appointment where she would be in the room to re-discuss a surgery. First impressions leave a lasting impression and the way I was treated at my first appointment made me feel he wasn't interested in helping me unless I opted to have more surgery than insurance would cover. (That would be over $7,500). I felt discriminated against because I have Medicare/Medical. He told me not to interrupt him when I tried to explain my many surgeries I'd had on the area. (5). He said so a total of 2, right? By that time I just said "yes". Why bother? After I posted the first review, within 20 minutes I get a call where Olivia stated that the doctor was upset with my review. She offered the 2nd appointment where she would be in the room. She too pushed the additional surgery (which is actually not recommended at the same time by 2 other doctors I have spoken with). Olivia said I would not look good unless I had the additional procedure. I told her I know- I am doing it for health purposes. She asked me if I could take down the review. I said no- not until I felt differently. I would not like to have surgery with a doctor that made me feel uncomfortable. I feel like this Dr doesn't care at all about his patients. Once you give him your money he turns into a monster. He had a harsh and abrasive manner after surgery. (Which was terrifying) What's worse is he also did not keep his promise and fix his mistakes! Myself and a few friends went there and some of his before and after pictures were photo shopped. By this, I am not referring to his website. I am referring to pics he would print out and some were before the surgery was even performed to show what it (should) come out like. We had a family member have his nose surgery done here, the surgery was not cosmetic and we wanted as little change made to his nose as possible to allow him to breathe. This is a review for my experience with Dr Mofid, but also as the caretaker of my sister, who was also the recipient of his precise care. I am personally 9 days out from an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) and brachioplasty (arm lift). I lost close to 100lbs many years ago and have been on the roller coaster with personal trainers and food plans trying to un-stretch my arms with strength training,. My tummy was at the point that I couldn't even bother to try to suck it in any longer. I just wish one of the trainers, after hearing my goals had just said, "Hey! That's never going to spring back! Just get it trimmed up and come see me to train you after". But, that's not the business they are in, so they didn't. I can already tell that, the immediate results far surpassed any expectations I had. I know that after a few months the swelling will decrease significantly, but even with the swelling, my arms are down almost 4 inches around and my lower abdomen is down 7 inches (with significant swelling). UNBELIVEABLE!!! Dr Mofid said he was able to take off 10lbs of skin/fat. I now know that there was no way that I was going to get these results naturally. I have tried everything over the last 15 years (ways of eating/ways of training- you name it, i did it!). In one fell swoop, 15yrs of thinking something was wrong with me, that I just wasnt getting it right, was healed. Priceless! *********** Now, for the review as the caretaker for my sister - My sister has a breast reduction 3/2021. She had lost 85lbs recently through her lifestyle changes and she was left with large, sagging breasts that weighed heavily on her back and shoulders. She was referred by her PCP, under her Medicare plan to Dr Mofid. He was able to explain the surgery easily and it went very smoothly. My sister's is intellectually disabled with some motor skill and developmental delays. This means she has a rudimentary understanding of how things are done. She needs specific prompts and elementary instructions when learning something new. This experience for her was scary in a way most of us would experience when we are much younger. Recovery for her was tough. About a month after surgery, my sister developed a staph infection. This had nothing to do with Dr Mofid - our skin is covered in bacteria, sometimes a bit of it gets into a place it shouldn't. This lead to about 2 months of short stays at the hospital every couple of weeks - to which Dr Mofid was always called and participated in treatment planning and follow-up. As a patient/caretaker, I need to say that the Dr was always accessible, friendly and genuinely concerned for my sister's well-being. The office gives you the dr's personal # to use after surgery. Amazingly, he always responded within minutes of any concern. Getting into see a specialist is often hard enough in today's medical system, but to have a surgeon who is so responsive and kind - on top of being extremely good at what he does, be the one who is responding in this way is truly a special experience in medical care. From my sister, Suzy - in her words (from a FB post used with her permission): "I'm having a great time hanging out at the pool today and I love my other new bathing suit and I love my new body and appearance and I'm still loving that I can wear two new two piece bathing suits since my surgery in March because I always wanted to wear two piece bathing suits and I never could before my surgery in March thank you @drmarkmofid for doing a great job on my surgery in March I love it" When my sister was referred to Dr Mofid, I had already been scheduling consulting calls for the procedures I wanted. I recently had a very successful septoplasty revision procedure done by Dr. Mofid. I could not be happier with the results and my entire experience with Dr. Mofid and his wonderful team including, Rebecca, Kelsea, and Michelle. I had already gone through an unsuccessful septoplasty surgery completed by a local ENT. I was very cautious about who I chose to do the revision procedure since the second surgery would be a bit more complex due to scar tissue formation and removed cartilage from the original procedure by the ENT. If I could give him a 0 star I would !!!!!! BEWARE worst dr. Ever .... He did my second breast augmentation and a chin implant .... He acted as if he didn't know me every time I walked in to the office it was as if we had never spoke or met .... He also charged me more the day of the surgery than was originally quoted..... 2 years later my nipples are uneven my scaring is horrible my ariolas are choppy and diffrent sizes .....my chin never healed properly half of my face is still to this day numb and my once beautiful smile is forever crooked .... This took me a while to write because I struggled to find the words for how amazing Dr. Mofid and his staff are. From the first time I walked into the door everybody was amazing and helped me feel incredibly comfortable about what I was going through. I spent about 4 months looking for and going to surgeons that perform a full body in both Orange and San Diego county. I settled on Dr. Mofid for his knowledge and explanation of what his plan was and why. I am now 4 months post surgery and I am over joyed. Dr. Mofid is a modern day Michaelangelo. I look better than I could have ever imagined. I have 2 more procedures to go and I can't wait for the final result. His staff post surgery was great. This happened right around the time of COVID-19. I got regular zoom calls and check in from them to make sure I was doing well. It was a level of care that extended far past what I was expecting. My surgery was extensive and my recovery was difficult but I felt safe and valued the whole time and that with the care I was receiving I would come out the other side. Dr. Mofid and his staff are fantastic! I am three months post-op from a lower body lift and breast reduction after losing 85 pounds naturally. I studied the before and after pictures on his website for months leading up to the big day (to the point of near memorization), but the outcome of my own procedure still blows my mind!! The results are so much better than I dared hoped for.... It's still taking time to recognize myself in the mirror! The recovery was intense, but the staff and doctor were just a text away anytime I had a question, and followup care has been amazing and thorough. Im very disappointed and frustrated with that Dr!!!! After all i've been through, two years in treatment of breast cancer my last breast reconstruction surgery was denied by my insurance. After that i was in Dr Mofids office asking help to be able to have my self-esteem back. After six months waiting a surgery day he just cancelled, he said he would not have me as a patient anymore and he would discharge myself But he asked for his assistant tell me that, he wasn't able to tell me that! I got upset and very very sad!!!!! Such disrespectful behavior from a Dr!!!! He didn't even talked with me about it. He left for his office manager and she told me that leaving a message in my phone???? Where is that respect and care that doctor should have it???? Or they just think they are god??? Now he is worried about his reputation?? Should think about it before treating patients like a shit! Im still waiting for a breast reconstruction and feeling depressed every single day. read more

It's been almost eight weeks since I had the buttock augmentation surgery done. Dr Mofid, Michelle and the whole staff were great to work with. They answered all my questions and made sure I was healing right. I had no complications post surgery and I love the results!! I got a size two (300 ccls) because I'm 5'1" and 100 lbs. That was the largest size that would fit within my muscle. I finally fill up my pants and shorts and I got the extra curves I wanted. I'm not fully recovered yet but I can do almost everything back to normal except for exercising. I still have to use the special pillow to sit down but I'm able to sit for a longer period of time. Before the surgery I was very scared because I never had a major surgery done before. But I can honestly say that with the right Doctor the recovery is very tolerable :) read more

Was feeling sick from BII for many years and didn't know why until I came upon a FB group called breast implant illness. Suddenly, I drew the dots and realized my implants were making me ill. Dr. Mofid was upfront, and shared I didn't need a lift nor did he recommend any fat grafting. He shared my capsules are thin to remove, and most likely will dissolve. The nurse in the surgery room was so sweet and made me feel comfortable as possible. The only concern was my initial consult was regarding removing the "entire capsule" and possibly having one drain. However, I was told during my surgery there would be no capsules removed as they would eventually dissolve in my body. I do feel better than I did so I appreciate Dr. Mofid's work! read more
