VIBE When you don't have the benefit of having benefits, the dentist is a freelancer's WORST nightmare and will have you pinching pennies more than you do salt. That said, if you're going to get your teeth "did," it's not an expense you skimp on (hello? Remember the movie "Little Shop of Horrors?"). I have been going to the house of Dr. Syriopoulous for over 20 years (give or take the few years where I couldn't afford to go...see below) and he and his dental staff are top notch, calm and always smiling (well, for the most part. At least Dr. S is). The centre was recently renovated and is bright and cheery. And some of their dental reception staff have been there for 12 and 20 years respectively. I can't say that about the dental assistants but when your dental staff have low turnover, that's a really good sign. THE SERVICE The assistant who gave me my x-rays wasn't the best. I was late and therefore I was rushed (she had to pick up her kids) but it didn't make me feel very comfortable. That said, when I went back in to get an assessment from Dr. Hendricks, he and his assistant made me feel very comfortable. He explained everything to me in plain English, was calm and patient. He's very friendly and he gets the job done. Second time: he and his assistant, Crystal are pros. I pity him for having to look at the disgusting-ness of my teeth. I now realize no dentist will ever date me. After my first appointment, he made the first side of my teeth feel brand new. It was a lot of work, but again he was patient, professional and precise. Reception staff (as with dental assistants...and I think you'll get this anywhere) are hit and miss. The older reception staff are good and you definitely know they have a thick skin (file under: jobs I would never want to have in my lifetime). The newer reception staff, in my opinion, were just not as warm or friendly. When I'm paying into the hundreds for appointments, I don't want to have a judging look. Also, I know you know how much cleanings, etc. are and hate when you're all "well it's based on time." Let me know how much something approximately costs so I can plan in advance. That said, they don't overshadow the warm and friendly environment here. I still have more appointments but I'm not going to switch because I know I can trust these guys. And that's what you will pay for. OBLIGATORY CATCHY REMARK If you're paying upwards of $500 for one appointment (yes...), you may as well be able to watch as much cable as you want. I will tell you "What Not To Wear" is a show that should have been custom-made TV watching for the Dentist. You'll completely forget what they're doing to your mouth because you want to know what the show's resident fashion's disaster transformation will be. Anyways, this is a solid choice for your dentist. And kids, brush and floss every day. I'm learning my lesson the hard way. read more

My son goes there for his cleaning every 6 months, and for no reason, they have the dentist come in and they charge $60 for it. They didn't disclose this information upfront and I had to pay only after everything was done. He didn't ask for any consultation, yet the dentist came in and examined him anyway. This time, I am very disappointed with their service and I find it to be a problem, that a dentist comes in for a consultation without any reasonable cause. My son is just a student and he had to pay from his own pocket that insurance didn't cover. I decided to change my clinic. read more

My new dentist found many corrections to be done, after having been worked on by Dr. Davella for over a year. The new dentist fixed all the weird fillings Davella did and reshaped the teeth that that she had shaved down way too much. I think she makes a lot of mistakes, because she's too busy talking right over your face to her assistant about her weekend. She is not focused and clearly doesn't care about what she's doing and also doesn't communicate with her patient. read more

Avoid at all costs. I wish I could go back in time and never have set foot in this terrible dental centre. As other reviewers have said, they are mainly interested in money. It is all about profits over your health. They are going to suggest as much work as possible as long as they can max out your yearly dental claims insurance even if the work is not needed. Naive me walked into this office with one specific issue for one tooth and was quickly smooth talked into having work done/redone on 5 other teeth that absolutely didn't need it. I was new to the country and was surprised by the aggressive and expensive treatment plan proposed by DNDC since my previous dentist (based outside of Canada) had always said that my teeth were fine. But I didn't want to contradict these health professionals. And silly me trusted that I was in good hands. Mind you, I had an excellent dental plan with my employer, so DNDC milked every $$$ possible out of it. Fast forward to a couple of weeks/months later and all those teeth they had touched were crumbling. I switched to another dentist of course after realizing what was going on, but it was too late, not much was salvageable. I wish I had just listened to my former dentist (the one outside of Canada) who had always assured me that my teeth were fine and that no cosmetic work or overzealous restorative work was needed. I learned my lesson the hard way. Please don't make the same mistakes as me and find a professional who's going to be interested in your health, not in your bank account. Very professional & friendly services! I've been to a few dental offices in the past 30 years and this office is very modern and roomy. They told me that it was renovated about two years ago. I noticed many state-of-the-art equipment. In one of the dental office I had been to, they mounted their TV sets in the ceiling, so clients could watch TV throughout the services. This office has 4K TV (a plus), but TV sets were mounted on equipment arms, so I could only watch it when I was sitting straight. read more

DNDC has been my family Dental Clinic for 20 years, and I have never been disappointed. Warm, welcoming and empathetic staff make you feel safe and relaxed. I came to DNDC after taking my son to my old dentist who had no idea how to deal with children. Dr. Syriopoulos was kind, patient and very gentle. He took his time making sure my son understood what was happening, and managed his discomfort. My son went from living in fear of the dentist, to looking forward to going back. Dr.Andrew Syriopoulos destroyed my teeth. At the age of 24 (upon his suggestion and insistence) I decided to get restorative work for a handful of teeth. There was no need to get this dental procedure, as I only had some spots on a few teeth. It was purely for cosmetic reasons. After a few years the restoration fell out and the enamel was severely damaged. I had to get crowns on four of my front teeth. The teeth in which restoration work was not performed are in good condition. Every dentist I have been to since seeing Dr.Andrew Syriopoulos was puzzled as to the reason why I had restoration work performed, including my former orthodontist. Now, I realize I made the decision and was not forced. However, I believe Dr.Andrew Syripoulos acted in an unethical manner in order to receive the highest payment from my former insurance policy. I had close to 10,000 a year on my parents insurance policy and he made sure to maximize his profit. Not long before I turned 25. I have a close family member who has seen Dr.Syriopoulos several times over the last few years. Within the last few years he has changed staff several times (hired new young dentists) and significantly increased cost for certain procedures. If you want an honest dentist who is interested in making sure your dental health is at an optimal level, then go elsewhere. Dr.Andrew Syriopoulos is concerned about money first and foremost. Worst experience ever, my 79 year old father went with my son for an appointment on August 12th, when asked how he was feeling he said his stomach wasn't feeling well, immediately Laura goes into a panic saying he cannot continue with his appointment, puts him a room away from other patients (which is not a problem) the problem is this b.tch decides that she is going to tell the wheel trans driver when he comes to pick up my father that he has COVID like WTF(my son called me to tell so how is he going on) I called & spoke to her & she told me some BS that she has a duty to report more BS because I contacted Public Health after i spoke with her & was told unless my father had a test done then got the results back shared the results with her she has nothing to say & actually he could file a complaint against her. So this b.tch was gonna give out false info to cause my father 79 yrs old black man that is disabled from a stroke with mild dementia to potentially be left stranded without a ride home . I had to rush through traffic to pick them up & then rush to pick my 8 yr old from camp. BTW my father is fine, it was just something he ate the day before, when I called the office the next day to inform them that he was fine & the problem was the food he ate like he told them many times & to reschedule his appointment I was told Laura would call me back 2 weeks later & no call i will never use their services again read more

The office is very modern. There are televisions in every room, as if you can pay attention to a TV show while someone is digging in your mouth with a drill. The service is fine. My biggest complaint with the office is how they try to get as much possible out of you, pushing for services and booking appointments even beyond your insurance without informing you. Then you get a call with a hefty bill to pay without any indication that you had exceeded your coverage. I think it is up to me as the patient to decide if I want services beyond what my insurance covers. That is unprofessional and deceptive and I will not be going back. read more

I'll try to keep it as short as I can, while still explaining fully why this is a 1-star review: THE SERVICE: - A representative experience: My older child told me that the dental hygienist scraped into her gum roughly with the pick a few times and said, "Oops". It really hurt. This had never happened to the kids with other hygienists at previous dentists' offices. This hygienist must not have been experienced, or was having a bad day. Apparently, a few of the employees here have bad days. Keep reading. - On my first visit, I mentioned to my dentist Ms. ___ (no names here) that my lower left molar (which had a filling already) was hurting. She X-rayed it and said it looked okay, and she'd "keep an eye on it". She then proceeded to ask me if I'd ever considered having crowns put on my other teeth, which I'd never been asked before. I asked if it was necessary. She said it looked nicer. Her office later called to give me a quote for $1,200 for the crown. She never did mention that painful filling again, but the office did call me again, twice, enquiring about the crowns. The filling that the dentist said was "okay" chipped off a few months later, and I experienced pain when eating very hot or cold food. My new dentist is fixing it for me now. He doesn't try to sell me on crowns. - On our second visit, my older child mentioned to me that in the hallway, the same dentist who had treated me (above) was heard screaming angrily to a co-worker. "She sounded really annoyed at her co-worker, and unfriendly," my child said. Maybe she was having a bad day. - Our third visit was simply to ask for our records, and the attitude was something else. They were very concerned during my first visit whether I had dental insurance or not. I did, but we had been waiting for the children to be put on the plan, so the children didn't have insurance during the first visit, and I had had to pay 100%. Once the children were finally put on the plan, I came in at a later date to ask for a copy of the receipts so I could submit to the insurance company and get my money back. The receptionist serving me seemed annoyed, and asked, "What do you want that for?" I explained to her what I wanted to do. She took her time finding our files, and periodically sighed very loudly while doing so, because apparently it was *such* an inconvenience for her. Once she gave them to me, I asked for all our X-rays as well. Again, she asked me why. I explained that we would be taking them to search for a new dentist, as we would no longer be clients here. All of a sudden, she had a bright smile on her face. She became *ever* so helpful and gave me the X-rays (this time, without sighing). She then proceeded to ask me if I knew where to submit my receipts and did I need an address, or even a stamp (no thanks, I replied, as I didn't need anything further from them). Ha. Just like the phone companies: As soon as they think they're going to lose you, they're the friendliest bunch *ever*. In summary: THE VALUE: - None. Highest price I've ever paid to have kids' cavities filled. The exact price per filling, with no mention of how deep or complex each cavity is, unlike my new dentist, who tells me that the complexity of the cavity determines the price. - As mentioned above, seemed more concerned about getting me in for the $1,200 crowns than fixing my filling. VERDICT: Never again. They keep calling me repeatedly (despite my asking twice to be removed from their phone and mailing list since I was no longer a client). I finally had to come in person to ask to be removed from their mailing list. read more

I had a horrid experience at neighbourhood dental centre on danforth. When moved here a year ago I had to change dentists. They had a tendency to always be late 10-15min when said on time to. I went in for a filling yesterday. The tooth had no pain or was not crumbling. I At the end she told me that it will need a root canal and crown. The catcher is I know my teeth really well as I have had lots of fillings and know specifically the procedure they did will weaken my tooth and speed up time frame for root canal. The dentist did not apologize. The kicker was this was the second time they did and I already meet with the office manager once to complain that I would not of proceeded with the filling I was aware of the outcome and she assured me it would never happen again. Needless to say I was furious and closed my file on the spot and now looking for a new dentist. I am out 500$ in insurance which is a huge chunk too. After 20 years of being terrified of having a rather difficult wisdom tooth removed, I finally had it out two weeks ago. Dr Syriopoulos is a dental wizard! Our whole family has been going to Danforth Neighbourhood Dental Centre for over 5 years and I have nothing but good things to say. The hygienists have all been great (and I've used the services of several) and the Dentists have been great too. Appointments have always been on time and their hours of operation are outstanding with services on Saturdays and weekday evenings. Horrible! This dental centre will take advantage of your complete insurance policy and you will run out of funds for the calendar year, every year. They care more about maximizing their profits, instead of helping their patients. The management is not considerate of what your policy covers. The dental staff will also suggest uncalled for procedures just to make money. Additionally, they are not of any assistance with determining what your policy covers before you accept their recommended treatment. So if you go here, watch your wallet and call your insurance company to find out what your benefits cover BEFORE your appointment or treatment. Because the staff certainly are not of any assistance at all and you will be dinged with a very sizeable bill. read more

I had a great dentist at this clinic so even after he left I went back thinking I'd get that same great service. I was so very wrong): My appt was the last of the day so the dentist though friendly did a botch job of cementing my bridge. I noticed it as soon as I waled into the waiting reception area as it was glued un-evenly!!! I told the sectetary and asked to speak to the dentist and she went into the back and come out and told me the dentist said that's the way it will fit since it fell out! What the hell!!! I had already paid and now my concerns were being brushed off and basically shoved out the door. Needless to say, my bridge fell out within 48hrs. Went back after the wknd to get it re-glued and this time another dentist did it properly as it fit right in and was NOT un-even!!! I wasn't mortified about smiling! A treatment coordinator had the nerve to ask payment (after the inital botched job which I tried to address buy stating that the bridge did not feel right as my tongue kep hitting it). There is absolutely no accountability here nor patience or regard for patients concerns. read more
