Great space and awesome beer! They have a large outdoor space with plenty of picnic tables and heaters, as well as a big indoor area with high top tables. Their beer menu is full of a variety of options. They don't have any sours or super unique flavors, but they certainly know how to make good classic beer. I ordered the Eternal Quest and Not Quite Present, both of which were very smooth, not too hoppy, and refreshing. They come in fun Dancing Gnome glasses that are for sale inside, along with other merch. If you're hungry, they also have 2 food trucks outside making food all night. When we were there, a woodfire pizza and taco stand were serving food. The pizza smelled delicious and my friends said it tasted great. The brewery also has its own parking lot, which is super convenient especially for the busy location. Prices are very reasonable for beer, they even have half pint options if you want to try a few flavors or not looking to drink too much. Wow. The new space they built is so incredibly beautiful. There is so much light and space and plants and really feels like an oasis. They had nice options for those of us that don't get behind super hoppy beers which is nice. I had the krolsch and cream ale and they were both great. They sampled the cream ale for me because I was curious about it and then I got a pint. It's nice that you can choose from a full pint or a half so you can try more. Staff was super friendly. The outside space was great too. Lots of seating and space and the Tuesday night food truck was great. I sampled a wing and some fries that a friend got and the wing was especially perfect. If you are a fan of Hazy IPA's, look no further! This is the brewery you NEED to check out in Pittsburgh. They usually have 5-8 beers on draft at all times with a nice selection of New England Style IPA's as well as double and triple IPA's. They also have the occasional stout and when they do, they are just as amazing as their IPA's. A few times per week they offer can sales. Usually Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. When they do, you'll usually find a line around the building waiting for them to open. There is also always a food truck parked outside if you're hungry. Go see Andrew and his crew. Me and my whole extended family went here. the staff was rude, judgmental and generally unkind in how they treated us. They didn't like how our collectI've eight young children were playing and instead of just asking for what they wanted the staff seemed to want to humiliate, judge and act in general like a jag off. Our families kids are good kids, we told them to just sit nicely and they had no problem the rest of the time. we just didn't know the rules they had there. I don't mind at all being corrected. But the way they treated us and acted seemEd like the intent was to humiliate and judge us rather than act professional. A brewery that only really serves IPA and Pale Ales you say. Can it be true? Well in the small town of Sharpsburg, you will find the Dancing Gnome, where I did not witness any gnomes or dancing, but the IPA, APA, pale ale tale is true... Sort of... We ventured here to begin a local brewery tour this summer. I used to work in Sharpsburg and there was nada going on, so I am pleased to see that they are starting to see some influx in popular and growing businesses. We went on a Wednesday afternoon. The actual bar is small but the taproom is quite adequate and can fit a decent amount of patrons. They do not serve food but always seem to have some local food truck parked out front to satisfy any hunger sensations. So back to sort of IPA/Pale Ale. Yes, everything on the menu says it is an IPA/APA or a Pale Ale. So this makes me say "Yes, Yes, Yes!" However, it also make me think my husband who does not enjoy IPA's will not find anything he will like. Here is the skinny. Are they IPA's? Sort of. Does it taste supper hoppy and bitter? Nope. Do any of the beers they regularly serve taste supper hoppy or bitter. Again, nope. I should know I asked, and sampled. The bartender told me their Pale Ales and IPA's are east coast style and to not expect something similar to say Green Flash or Stone. It was unusual for me having drank many IPA's brewed in the east to be told this is an east coast style, but that was the story and they are sticking to it. For you hoppy lovers, and lovers of hops, I recommend the Guyasuta, as I was told this is their hoppiest choice. I enjoyed the beer even though it was quite different from what I am used to consuming. Since their IPAs/Pale Ales do not come in a one style fits all you do not have to be worried about coming here if you are not a fan of those styles. My husband, who typically would turn his nose up at an IPA, loved his beer... A lot... Furthermore, that atmosphere is nice and new, and they are making an absolute killing selling their canned beer. In the hour we sat there, we probably saw 10 people come in for cases or twelve packs. It is good to see they are doing well and I look forward to a return visit. read more

I have been told to visit this place by a handful of friends so I decided to finally give it a try. Parking can be difficult in lot when on busier days but street parking is available. Building is quite modern and staff was friendly. Seating is in sufficient supply. I tried out two stouts and the Barrel Aged Black Clouds was one of the best beers I've ever had. This place is a heaven if you are into IPA's and for that matter they have double and triple IPA's too. I am not an IPA guy but I ordered flight of their German style kolsch, pilsner and wheat beer. They were fresh, crispy and cool. Flavor profile is unique as expected from a craft beer place. The other 2 in my party enjoyed their IPA's thoroughly. Great beer, excellent service, and hip decor. I was drawn by the Oatmeal Stout, which did not disappoint. The other beers were most IPAs, but there was also a Mead from Carnegie's Apis. There are regular food trucks , such as brand new Food Baby and Driftwood Oven, both favorites. There's a window you can look through to see the brewing room. One of my favorite breweries in Pittsburgh! I'm a huge IPA beer guy so DG is at the top of my list. The majority of their beer styles are hop forward- IPA's and Pale Ales, but they do have some sours and stouts on draft every few months. If you're into the trading game, definitely line up to grab some cans. The space is small which makes it difficult to grab a table and eat, but the food trucks are awesome and the taproom is nice and clean! Even with a tiny taproom it's still nice to visit and grab a draft, growler and/or cans. I do wish you could grab growlers of their series (Flower and Bird). Dancing gnome is smaller than I expected. It was packed on a Sunday afternoon. The brewery is clean and modern. They have a rotation of food trucks. They defiantly need more seating, because they are very busy,. A lot of people were standing- more seating would be so beneficial. You can buy cans of their beers and they will fill up growlers on site. A lot of people were buying multiple cans I'm guessing they sell out. The beer is soo good. My favorite was the bouquet. Dancing Gnome is a really cool spot to grab a beer in Sharpsburg. My boyfriend and I swung in after fishing around the corner on the river. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, which was clean an modern. Perched on a stool at the bar, I ordered a half pint of Aevum (Session - Floral, Grapefruit). I greatly appreciated the fact that I could get a half-pint. As not a huge beer drinker, I always feel like pints of beer go wasted on me--especially if I don't end up liking it. However, despite the fact that I got a half-pint, I could've consumed an entire pint of Aevum. It was crisp, not too hoppy but still full of flavor, and the grapefruit notes were subtle, so it wasn't like I was drinking a shandy. For my next beer I chose a half-pint of Etch (IPA - Key Lime, Sauv Blanc). I usually don't touch IPAs with a ten-foot pole--way too hoppy and strong for me--but I was attracted to the flavors of key lime and sauv blanc. For someone who doesn't usually like IPAs, Etch was really approachable and easy to drink. I liked Aevum a lot better, but both options were delicious. One last thing--while I was at Dancing Gnome, the Pittsburgh Tortas food truck was out front and I LOVE when breweries partner with food trucks in a delicious symbiotic relationship. Dancing Gnome was very encouraging when it came to having patrons go outside to grab some food and then eat it at the bar. Loved it! read more

Easily the best brewery in the Pittsburgh area. DG brews primarily hazy IPAs but they put out some pretty fantastic stouts as well. The taproom is fresh and minimalistic, and very inviting. There's a rotation of food trucks that are out on the curb (from Blue Sparrow to Driftwood Pizza to Asado, and so many more). They usually have at least 5 beers on tap, but the front runners will kick! Recently, DG has been doing tons of can releases which has been great because sometimes they limit growler fills due to high demand. If you're planning to go for a can release, be sure to arrive early because (similar to drafts) they will sell out early. Check out their Instagram page for updates and info on can releases. DG is doing just about everything right, so much so that they literally sold out of beer a couple weeks back. I'm a definite wine-o, but recently I've been all about the craft beer scene, and there's no better spot in the burgh than DG. read more

My wife and I made this our first stop in our local brewery tour for the day. We got street parking a few blocks away. When we got to the door we saw that they had a food truck available if you were hungry. We were here just for drinks though. We walked in and went straight to the bar. It looked like a nice inviting place. Nice lighting inside, clean, and a good atmosphere. I really liked this brewery. Their beer is just what I like! They have different types of beer that have wheat in it and some hop but not too much hoppiness. It's not my wife's style even though she still liked the beer. It was perfect for me. If this was the only brewery that we were going to go we would have been here a while! Our first bartender didn't explain their beer to us but a girl eventually did when my wife asked. She usually likes IPAs with a lot of hop and she asked them if they had that here. She explained how they made their beer and they have some hoppines but not like the west coast IPA's. We appreciated the explanation and I really liked this place. I had the Lustra. It looked great in their Dancing Gnome glass too. It was Delicious. We will be back! read more

Dancing Gnome may be one of my favorite breweries we've visited in a while and we get to quite a few! Back in the day when Pittsburgh first came aboard the craft beer scene, I was pretty generous with my 5 star ratings. Now there are so many choices, it's harder to stand out. Well these guys stand out! I'm an IPA/Hoppy Beer lover and they had 8 on tap Sunday plus The Coop Food Truck was parked right outside. Typically they have a Stout as well, but it had tapped out. We tried all 8 beers in shared 4oz. pours. Mike, our bartender, did a great job making sure we knew which ones were which. I honestly liked them all but did choose 3 favorites: Mosaic Jam, Mr. G (that uses Australian Hops), & Guyasuta. In a typical brewery I usually find 3 or 4 beers I want to sample at most - here I found 8 and I liked them all! Great service, cute industrial modern space, food truck right outside the door that served us at the bar & a $15 T-shirt for hubby. Clear 5 Stars! read more

I'll start with the bottom line. They have superb beer in a fabulous space served by friendly people. If you like beer, that alone should be enough to get you here. There were 8 beers on tap when we were there. Since they specialize in IPA's and pale ales, everything on tap fell into that category. Well, that's my sweet spot so I loved it! They offer 4 ounce pours for $2, 8 ounce pours for $3.50 and 16 oz for $6. We were able to taste all 8 beers including 2 Australian pale ales which use Australian hops. They will often offer a stout or porter as well. Great bar, lot of space to sit at tables and socialize, food trucks outside, this place has it all. I loved the beer. For a brewery that's only been open since October, they are on the right track for sure. With new beers coming, keep an eye out for more delightful Dancing Gnome brews. I approached this place with mild skepticism. "We unapologetically brew hop pronounced styles ..." I'm no hop head, but I appreciate a well-hopped beer. With stiff competition from another local brewery, I was prepared to write this place off as one-note. It's not. But...how much can you really do with hops? A lot. You can apparently do a lot with hops. In fact, you can make a highly hopped beer taste...not hoppy...or at least not the hoppy you might be expecting. Mellow to highly bitter, the beers I had covered the whole hop spectrum. Beers with hints of grapefruit and melon, coffee and chocolate from beer to beer to beer. This is no one-trick pony. The "Better 1 or 2" is one of the best beers in Pittsburgh. I sampled five of their beers (a sampler and a 16 ouncer) and didn't find a weak offering in the mix. This place is going to give my favorite a run for the money. Decor is a clean, minimalist industrial. The sole non-functional bit of decoration I observed was a map of all the microbreweries in the United States. No wasted space on clean white-tiled walls. Edison bulbs hang on pendants over the bar area. Signage consists entirely of a large flatpanel board announcing the beers on tap. No food inside, although the food truck du-jour was bringing food inside for hungry patrons too cold to wait outside for it. I liked it. A lot. read more

Came here on a Saturday night to try some beers. The inside tasting room is large with plenty of seating. There are plants everywhere which is kind of pretty, but also a little weird! I kept wondering whose job it is to water all those plants. The beer is fine but the atmosphere feels a little commercial to me. Maybe it's the large open space and rather bright lighting, and the wall of merch (t-shirts etc). You can order beers in smaller sizes which is nice, but I wish they had flights as an option. Overall it's a good enough spot for gathering with friends for some beers but the environment is slightly lacking in character. read more

I stopped by here a couple of Saturdays ago with my wife for drinks. We arrived here in the late afternoon to find the place packed. Thankfully someone had just gotten up from a table as we entered and so we quickly grabbed it. The dancing gnome is a pretty open L shaped place with a giant bar on one side of the l and lots of seating on the other. The floor was made of what looked like hardwood or laminate on first glance but on a closer inspection was actually made of tile which was pretty cool. After we sat down I headed up to the bar in order to try a sampler. For $8 you get to try 4 sampler sized beers of your choosing. On this day I went with creases (smoked coffee stout), better one or two (DIPA), Astroid (IPA) and Superior Intellect ( Australian Pale Ale). As my coworker had warned me, everything here was pretty hoppy except for the porter which ended up being my wife's favorite. My favorite was the double IPA which brought lots of citrus and hoppiness to the table. In the end I enjoyed all the beers that I had tried. The bottom line for me is that I would head here again in the future. All of the beers were pretty good and i would still like to purchase a pint glass which I was denied on this visit due to low stock. read more

We went here after it was recommended. It is a smaller venue however even with it packed they are quick with serving beers as they have one section to order beers. I think that was smart on their part especially with less space getting a beer was not hard. I though the staff was friendly. They do not have beer flights but offer half pints. My partner and I ordered all their beers in a half pint and shared. They specialize in IPA's so if you like lighter beers I wouldn't come here. Did not have a beer I did not like. The customers where friendly as well. We shared a table with a couple and enjoyed ourselves. We will be back. read more

I was super excited to visit Dancing Gnome, as I had heard great things from Sharpsburg people. The space was beautiful and all the patrons were friendly. We stopped in on a Saturday night to sample some beers and tried four different ones, mostly Pale Ales. We had a variety of beer drinkers there that night, so the reactions were mixed. Things were a little too hoppy for me, but others loved it. So it really will depend on your tastes. With three draft sizes it made it nice to be able to try things out before committing to a whole draft. The bar area is decently large and the front space has several tables (all 6-tops, I believe). With a large crowd there when we arrived we lucked out when a group left a table and we were able to join a couple who was at the end of that table. So the communal area worked for us, but with any more people in our party we wouldn't have been able to all sit together. It seems that they have a good variety of food trucks represented in their nightly line up. The people who were running the truck that night (it was cold outside!) were bringing in the orders to customers which seemed like a system that was working. Good job, Sharpsburg! However, I CAN tell you is that this place is awesome! To start, it's got an incredible atmosphere. Clean, modern, trendy. Lots of plants. Great music. Nice selection to choose from. I had their Mead on tap and it was delicious (: The people working the bar (Emily and Zach I think..?) were really helpful too.
