Great place for group gathering! Large seating areas and also have outdoor seating. No frill brewery with great beer selection. They offer a variety of beers for all taste buds. We really enjoyed their Dunkel and IPAs. When we were here, they had food truck outside which was great. Definitely give this place a try, you won't be disappointed.

Parking here is challenging. I think you can park in a nearby gravel lot but was unsure. It was crowded with two food trucks operating. Great to have food options on-site although we did not eat. I was disappointed in the beer selection with half the available beer being IPAs. There were a lot of beers available however, perhaps 20? They did have a raspberry sour which my wife enjoyed. I got a cask conditioned bitter which was good but did not blow me over. But for anyone preferring a malty brew, nothing on the menu for them. Even in the middle of summer most places will still pour a stout or porter, or something a little malty. Not here, unless I missed something. Very attractive interior with high ceilings. Modern vibe. But the noise level was entirely too high. It was difficult to hear each other over a very small table for two. The noise level was so high we went elsewhere for a second round. Some carpet, wall hangings or upholstered furniture might absorb some of the sounds bouncing around in there. If crowded, expect a big party level of sound. Can't say we will return with so many other options with better beer, ambience and accessibility. Still, if you're in the area and want a hoppy beer, check it out!

Great beer, great atmosphere and phenomenal service. Loved every minute here. Important- Dogs are not allowed. Yelp indicated they were. Not sure if it will be fixed soon for "Features" but it is important to leave your pups at home

This is a great brewery-probably one of my favorite spots in Pittsburgh. The beer always hits, they have a spacious taproom with indoor and outdoor seating. Great vibes, great people. They have a lot of styles to pick from ranging from hazys to more traditional styles. They make a great Pilsner and Schwartz. Their Lustra pale ale is one of my favorite beers. They recently built a nice deck outside around their permanent food truck, Blue Sparrow which is super nice in good weather. I also love how there are always plants inside to purchase or a free propagation wall. They have great merch and also feature a local artist on a rotating basis so you can buy art there too! They always have cans and/or bottles on site for purchase. There is a decent sized parking lot on site or street parking throughout Sharpsburg. This brewery does not allow dogs, but I respect it . They're part of the Pittsburgh Brewers Guild-so you can get a stamp and prizes here.

This is a really nice brewery, good beer, food truck, amazing outdoor and inside areas, seltzers, and very good staff. I should rank it at 5 stars but the beer is a bit short of amazing, and since this is a brewery, beer is the main topic. I wouldn't say the selection is lacking, it is great. The beers are well crafted also, it's just that little thing that is missing, for me. But if you're not a beer snob, this place is still a fun place.

I've been here on several occasions for different small gatherings and have always enjoyed the friendly, laid-back atmosphere. They have a long tap list that includes several ciders for folks like me who don't particularly enjoy beer. While you can count on a good drink, I wouldn't show up hungry - the permanently on-site food truck took over an hour to process my order, in part because they were missing several of the ingredients necessary for the meal I had selected. I wasn't in a hurry and I ended up with a different meal that was absolutely delicious, so it was still a good experience.

Great kid friendly brewery! We went over the weekend with our two young children and had a great time. There were 2 food trucks to choose from, lots of great beer options - and really liked that you could choose a full or half pint size. Bonus that there is a diaper changing table in the restroom. There was ample seating indoors and outdoors. The only negative was limited parking onsite. Would definitely come back!

First off, we're from Oregon. We love a good IPA and hazy. This is the place! Staff super friendly, knowledgeable, clean. Highly recommend if you like a good hazy and if you want a nice place to hang out. Lots of picnic tables lots of indoor seating lots of outdoor seating, TV.

One of the top breweries in one of the best if not the best breweries in the city. They have great IPA's , always, and their 'Dunkel' is amazing.

I stopped by recently, but I was disappointed when I pulled up and walked up to the building to see that they were closed, but then I saw a sign on the door that they had moved down the street to a new location. So my disappointment soon turned into excitement as we walked up to a brewery marvel. The exterior of their new location is electrifying in all regards. The exterior lighting to the architecture inside and outside of this location is beyond your typical brewery and the parking is plentiful. Listen, I get it that they grew beyond their old walls and that speaks volumes of the brewery scene in Pittsburgh, but those old building breweries with all the character will always have my heart. Btw: Sharpsburg happens to be one of my favorite neighborhoods in the Pittsburgh area and the growth that has happened and is happening is a beautiful thing to see. The day I visited they were jam packed and they had a BBQ food truck that was popping and from what I was seeing people eat it looked amazing and even though we didn't eat I am sure they had something vegan I could have tried. The service was fast and the beers were delicious. I can't wait to come back and spend more time here and drink more of their beers and meet some cool peeps. I also purchased a couple of their mugs and glasses which I now love drinking my craft beers from. Great job Dancing Gnome :D

6+IPAs on draft, with fun names, fantastic art work, on-site parking, & an outdoor patio area....sold! not only sold, but we added a * must-visit when creating our self-made Pittsburg beer tour I had no idea at the time they had won America's favorite brewery, & while it wouldn't necessarily claim a top spot in my favorites, I can agree their flavors & ambiances were fantastic beers ranging $7-8, ample variety, and friendly bartenders allowing for small sip samples to decide- we were very impressed with a number of their IPAs we selected Galaxy & Better One or Two Two- had samples of Etch, Gravel Grinder- all had very unique hazy flavors ranging levels of lightness, rich & creamy, crisp & juicy, or dank hops I really wish 1. they offered flights 2. they offered mix&match to-go packs (lucky Buddy's on Carson has a lot of their IPAs in their mix&match cooler, so we were able to pick up a good variety to bring home) plenty of inside & outside seating, food truck was on site at the time of our visit, big screens to watch games overall, excellent visit- would frequent if we lived close & would definitely have my fridge consistently stocked with Dancing Gnome beer

Updating my review as Dancing Gnome is now at a new location, which I love by the way! It is so much larger and they have a nice outdoor area. It is still a very kid friendly brewery. Also it is SO clean! I tried a half pint of the Track Botanical. It was good! Can't wait to go back and try some others. While I was there, they didn't have food. However a food truck was scheduled to come at 4pm. We brought plenty of snacks to cover us during our stay.

Wonderful time celebrating friends birthday here! It was my first time visiting and we had a great experience! There was lots of parking spots in the lot so parking wasn't an issue when I arrived. We came on a Thursday night and there were great food options at the food truck. Everyone enjoyed their waffle fries and burgers! The outdoor seating area looked like a great place to enjoy in warmer weather. Inside there was a variety of seating at low and high top tables and at the bar. Whenever we went to order our drinks the staff were very friendly and helpful. We never had to wait long for drinks either. The staff members also were very good at coming around to clean tables and take our empty drink glasses away. There is a large variety of beer on tap so everyone can find something they enjoy! Overall a great experience here!

The building itself was once the St. John the Baptist Church; in true Pittsburgh fashion, people restored and converted the original building to make it a functional restaurant. A note about the interior dining room: you can either sit on their dining side (which has larger tables) or the bar side (which has some booths but is primarily high tables and chairs). The menu has a good assortment of appetizers, soups and salads, sandwiches, and other entrées. They used to have both traditional pierogies as well as a "flavor of the week" option, although these days they seem to only serve the traditional ones. The menu is refreshed somewhat regularly, so over the years I've sampled salads, fish dishes, pasta dishes, and sandwiches. It's hard to have a "go to" order when it might disappear, but you'll likely find something good when you visit, given the range of options. (Currently, I'm a BIG fan of the Street Corn Arancini. Definitely give these a try while you can!) While the food won't necessarily knock your socks off, let's remember: this is the Church BREW Works. The beer and cocktail menus are definitely where it's at. According to Untappd their current beer menu includes an assortment of Belgian, Porter, Lager, Pilsner, IPA, and Stout style beers. I'm more of a cocktail person myself so I always sample something new when I dine here (again: the menu is refreshed regularly), and I have yet to be disappointed! Like I said at the start, this is one of those places that we try at least once. I'll still come here with friends for sure, but this is admittedly not an establishment that I'll go out of my way to visit. It's fine - not amazing, not bad, but fine.

So have you seen that meme out on the InterT00bZ that's like "Hey let's go to that new beer place…read morethey have $27 warm hazy IPAs in the middle of a parking lot?" Yeah, that's the vibe I was getting at Velum. There was a lot to like and a lot to not like about this place, so I'll start with the bad and end on a positive note. First off, it's in an old brewery and it looks like a warehouse. I'm not sure if they still brew their own beers but it straight up looks like an old warehouse. I've seen abandoned warehouses that look less like a warehouse than Velum. Maybe some people like that vibe but I felt like the cops were going to bust in and shut the party down like a teen coming-of-age movie. The taproom is all the way in the back, and so are the bathrooms, so if you break the magic circle, prepare to get your steps in. There's no kitchen. They DO partner with a food truck but they're getting their own review. I paid $10 for an average cocktail and $8 for a 12 oz cider that frankly wasn't that great. Either better drinks or bigger drinks, please. And everything is community seating. I don't hate the idea but I didn't care for the vibe so when I found a smaller table my friend and I grabbed it and boarded it. With that being said, there was a lot to like too. First off, we were there for a pinball night, and they have a great selection of pinball tables there, both classic and modern. I really would have liked information on joining a pinball league, but that wasn't offered anywhere that I could find. Plus on that particular night it was $10 for all-you-can-play, so we definitely got our money's worth there. The staff that I did interact with were super nice. That goes a long way and saved this from being a worse review. And the place is dog friendly, which is always a huge plus for me. All in all, I had a decent night. But the question as always is if I'll go back. Unfortunately, probably not of my own accord. If there's another pinball event, I'll definitely go, but it's not going into my rotation of cool spots. Not every place is meant for me, and that's fine.
