We ended up arriving earlier in Georgia than our original plan and we needed a place to try that opens till 4am so we decided to give it a try as it was just across the street of jeju sauna. We had some pork tofu soup, the taste is ok it had a very distinct flavor almost like menthol that i've never had before in pork tofu soup. Not sure if they used a special ingredients but I wasn't really a fan of it. However, my friends said it was not too bad. Then, we had a chicken that was very tiny. It's so tiny that you could have a one bite and it's just literal bone. They have a cute phone booth in there that makes the whole vibe really different. read more

Post 08/2021 Review The interior is roomier, totally different atmosphere from the original. Say goodbye to the wooden tables and vintage decore. Looks more like a hip bar restuarant. OPEN till 5am. I wouldnt come here until after 2:30am. It looks dead at 1am. FYI They pat you down at the door if your an individual whom likes to bear their constitutional rights. They use korean TJ Media Karaoke machines in the 5 private rooms. You come in find a table if availible and order at the counter. Not sure if they actually come to you to take orders. If you found yourself at this place its very much like a distillation reaction. Half of your friends and fellow patrons have boiled away and the remnants dont want the party to stop. Dont be suprised to be greeted by the familiar faces, especially the staff of local establishments (Encore/Red/Restaurants) from which you came. In summary, its hard not to like this place especially since its the only after hours spot open in this area. Sure the prices might be a little higher but who else is gonna serve you at this hour. read more

Dan Sung Sa is a late night Korean restaurant/bar/karaoke joint in Duluth near Pleasant Hill Rd. and I-85. Thanks to Angela H. for introducing me to this place last night. I heard it's open until 5am, but I didn't confirm. I went with a group of regulars and let them lead the way. This place is meant for Korean people. I don't know how the uninitiated or non-Koreans would find out about this place because there's not much written about it in English on the Internet... until now. Dan Sung Sa has a very unique and bizarre (in a good way) design. The storefront is plastered with old school Korean movie/music posters. When you first enter the store, it's like a regular restaurant. Off to the sides, there are private karaoke rooms. The dining space sort of reminds me of the now-defunct Harm Heung Cold Noodle. Relaxed lighting sets the mood and Korean LP record albums decorate the walls. This space also has a few widescreen TVs tuned to live Korean television. Last night, they were showing South Korea in the Olympics. The karaoke rooms are designed like traditional elementary school classrooms. There are chalkboards, children's drawings, and student chairs and desks. It's weird, but fun and amusing. Check out my photos to see what I'm talking about. The environment is generally clean and cozy. Note that smoking is allowed here, but it wasn't smoky during our visit (nobody was smoking at the time). If you smoke, they supply makeshift ashtrays made out of the bottoms of old soda cans. Unlike other karaoke joints (and someone correct me if I'm wrong), but Dan Sung Sa does not charge to use their karaoke systems. They do require you to purchase something off of their menu, though, before they turn on the TV and hand over the karaoke remotes and microphones. The menu has a whole host of Korean foods and drinks. We ordered a pitcher of beer and a bottle of yogurt soju, which tasted great. The karaoke system worked well. Excellent sound quality and the TV and equipment were in very good condition. Song selection was also very respectable -- a deep mix of both Korean and American songs. The rooms are small, so the sound really reverberates. It was nice. Service was good, though the female server wasn't the most friendly. It looked like she didn't want to be there. Overall, I ended up liking this place and had a good time. I'll definitely keep it in mind in my karaoke rotation now. read more

My friends and I stopped by here on Saturday for karaoke and the service we received was atrocious! The karaoke room they put us in was sticky and dirty. We were yelled at for coming out of our karaoke room to ask for a beer menu and when asked, their response was "we have everything, just tell us what you want." When we were leaving and came out to ask for our check, everyone that worked there was huddled around the bar (we seemed to be the only patrons in the bar atm) and glared at us for interrupting their conversation. I didn't try their food, so I can't speak to that, but the service here is the worst I've ever had and they charge 50% more than other places around the area for karaoke. Do yourself a favor and go to Hanshin Pocha or Itaewon Class Pocha instead. read more

This is a great place for Korean BBQ and Karaoke. Amazing food and cheaper price!! I had spicy Dae-chang for dinner last night. It tasted AMAZING. it is actually like a tasty spice!! (I asked them to make it a little spicier). If you really like spicy food, give it a try! And now they have a spcial event - Pork skirt steak only at $5.99!! They gave us some for free. An underrated Korean BBQ and karaoke spot in Duluth. I came here on a Wednesday night with some friends and we were definitely not Korean. So it was a bit hard trying to communicate with the server and flagging him down. That night didn't seem busy, but I guess there was just one server working that night. As for the food, it was pretty decent for the price that you're paying for. I really liked that hamburger type of party and the pork belly off he AYCE option. As for the banchan, it was really slacking. They also have karaoke rooms off to the sides. The theme is like a classroom which I find pretty interestingly weird. read more

Oh, anything else on the menu except for KOREAN BBQ. Nevermind... read more

Stopped here for some late night food since most places are closed. Ordered the bulgogi hotpot, kimchi rice ball and lunch box. Dan Sung Sa is good if you're planning on having a night out for Korean BBQ and karaoke. Instead of having dinner and going to karaoke, you can do both at the same time and it's probably cheaper too! I think-- it's if you spend over $50 on food, karaoke is free for the night. From what i recall, I don't think there's a time limit on how soon you have to leave, which is always a plus. However, the place itself feels pretty sketch for some reason. The interior has posters of adult films and doesn't give off the chic, clean vibe that most KBBQ places have these days! read more

Dan Sung Sa - Korean Near Me - Duluth, Georgia

After enjoying my wonderful (early) birthday dinner at Iron Age on a Thursday evening, a few of my friends who didn't mind staying out a little late on a work night took me to Dan Sung Sa to continue my birthday celebration. A group of six of us arrived around 11 pm and saw one table of customers. Two of my friends and I had been to Dan Sung Sa numerous times before, so we showed Daniel B. and our other friends the ropes. According to my parents, "Dan Sung Sa" is the name of an old movie theater in Seoul, Korea. This explains the old Korean movie posters displayed on their windows outside. This is really a hole-in-the-wall type place that is known by mainly us Koreans... That is, until now. They're open super late - well beyond 2 am when a lot of places seem to close. Although I had never stayed past 3 am, my friends said they're actually open 'til 4 or 5 am. If you don't specify that you want to sing karaoke, they'll seat you in the main restaurant/bar area. However, if you know about their "noraebangs" (private karaoke rooms) and specifically request it, they'll lead you to one of their open rooms. The noraebangs are designed to look like traditional elementary school classrooms in Korea, which is kind of bizarre but neat. So don't expect comfortable, cushiony seating as you may be accustomed to at regular noraebangs. They're wooden chairs and tables. The classroom-look also has nothing to do with their name (you would think the theme of the place is "movie theaters," but apparently it's not). The rooms are not large and seat probably up to ten people max. I wouldn't recommend groups larger than ten. Once the hostess/server seats your group, she'll hand you menus (food and drinks in one) and leave the room. At this point, the TV and karaoke equipment may or may not be on. If it's off, rest assured that the server will turn it all on for you after you've ordered food and/or drinks. Although they do not charge an hourly rate for karaoke (it's FREE!), they do want to ensure that you're not simply taking advantage of their free karaoke, so they'll wait until you have ordered something. (Keep in mind that they may glare at you if you don't order much.) In the past, I've tried their chicken wings (can't recall the flavor, but I'm pretty sure it was lemon pepper), which were pretty good. However, my friends and I are always sure to order a carafe of yogurt soju. It's yummy (tastes like the Yakult yogurt drink!) and fairly strong. At $15.99 for a decent-size carafe, it's a little pricey, but it's reasonable if you consider the fact that you're not paying for karaoke. My friends also ordered a pitcher of draft beer, which is $11.99. They serve small bowls of complimentary roasted peanuts as "anju" (side dish consumed with alcohol). Overall, Dan Sung Sa gets 4 stars for being a good place to chill, drink, and enjoy bar foods and Korean snack stand-type ("boonshik") foods as you sing karaoke in private rooms. Service is fine, but there isn't a service button to push if you need additional food or drinks. Most likely, you'll have to walk out and ask for what you want. Also, they won't bring you your check, so your group should just walk out to the counter when you're ready to pay. You can request to split the check if you want to, and they accept credit cards. I'll continue to come back for those late nights when my friends and I are hanging out in Duluth and don't want to drive down south to Atlanta. [Review 223 of 366] read more

A group of friends (mostly intoxicated after a great, fun wedding) decided that we needed somewhere to go to a) nurse our emerging hangovers, b) put some nourishments in the bellies of the DD's and c) have the drunks sleep it off somewhere so we decided on Dan Sung Sa. This was only my 2nd time here, the first being after my own party where we were seated in a booth near the front. I had no idea that the restaurant had more room in the back or that they even did karaoke. This time, they led our pretty large group to a room in the back and at first, I didn't get the decor at all. It looked like a primary class room, with black boards on each side of the walls. I left the ordering to those who knew the language better, but we ended up with an assortment of wings (those parmesan chicken wings were awesome), ramen, and several dishes of spicy sauces. The wings are very big which I like. I really hate it when a place that advertises their wings serves up these little, dried up chicken nuggets with bones in them. This place is not like that at all and they drench them with the requested sauce. You will end up licking your fingers while you are eating them, but like crab legs and chicken wings, you're not going to look sexy eating them no matter how hard you try. The service was ok, although there was a lag in our 2nd round of ordering because the lady forgot to put it in. The place wasn't booming with off key singing of Linkin Park (why is it that most karaoke places I go to one, there is always someone singing on of their songs!) so even if you didn't want to partake in the karaoke, you could at least enjoy your meal in the main dining area. read more

Hah! Man, this place has been around forever (at least three, four years) and I'm now finally getting to reviewing this place after seeing two other reviews. We also call this place Wings 2, as Wings Cafe off of Pleasantdale Rd. in Chamblee because its owned by the same people. It's decorated with 70s Korean movie posters, and many of the movie posters they have were red tape movies (red meant 18+ movies when renting VHS at your local video store in Korea) that were pretty much soft core porn movies. The karaoke rooms are furnished with a chalk board to make it seem like a children's classroom a la 70s style. It has pretty hilarious things in Korean like admonishments that say things that are counter intuitive to students in reality or humorous things. This used to be the after-the-club place for drunk Koreans to gather to share boo dae jji gae (basically an every thing stew with kimchi, vienna sausages, spam, onions, ramen, green onions) or jjam pong soo jae bi (seafood korean gnocchi soup) or eat wings while wailing into the mic in one of their free karaoke rooms until they kick you out because they're closing (I've been there 'til 6am once). If you're looking to try any of their flavored soju (rice wine), don't get kiwi. It was just not that good. If you're looking for a place to rock out, have drinks, and eat in peace, this is the place for you. It can get busy on the weekends, so call ahead and check if they have a free karaoke room. Bottles of Crown and Johnny are on the cheap here, and you get some free food items that the ajumas and unnies bring you. If you're in a karaoke room and you need something, press the bell located by the box of chopsticks and spoons. read more

Oh My God!!! I think I just found my new favorite spot for Galbi Jjim! All I wanted was some cheap bulgogi from Mega Mart but Dragon and his daddy didn't wanna go in there to eat cuz it's freeezing in there! So I Yelped Korean and we were rite here next to Gwinnett Mall and the pix of the galbi jjim looked sooo good I was like WE GOTTA GO HERE! There was NOBODY in here and Dragon Daddy was like how good could it be if it's empty? AF?? But we came and sat and ordered... The steam egg was $9.95!!! Laaawd! Coulda bought 6 dozens for that price but.. It IS a restaurant and It's bomb too.. and ofcourse we got the galbi jjim spicy.. So the small is 6 ribs. Medium is 9 ribs and Large has 12 ribs. We got 9 so we could take sum home too. It's dark in here with posters and records every where.. Karaoke room is like class rooms. Weird but watevers.. I've been here before after hours to chill after the club. But tonite was family dinner nite. Usually my favorite place for galbi jjim is at Jang Su Jang. And Myung summin'.. oh and Haewoondae. Lawd I can't spell these Korean restaurants and don't feel like looking them up but.. Back to the ribs! I love this one cuz it's actually ON the ribs and the meat melted off piece by piece. Ummm so effin' good! I don't care how dark or how inattentive the server was cuz these ribs was bangin'! Go try it!!! read more

the most fun fact about this place is that they offer unlimited karaoke as long as you eat and drink with them. the place definitely needs an upgrade though. we had the unlimited korean pork BBQ at $13 per person (+tax) the pork was good but our korean friends were not to impressed with it. i like the little plates of kimchi but they are definitely annoyingly skimpy with the portions and re ordering kimchi and rice took forever. i found it odd that their pork was frozen? anyways, their unlimited food is definitely stingy and they stall on the seconds which is quite discouraging. All 4 of us opted in for the unlimited korean pork BBQ with two kettles of soju and a pitcher of miller lite (the only beer they serve on draft) plus about two hours of karaoke and the bill was at $100 or $25 per person ... So I guess it's all good but not the most impressive place in the world. I do believe that this place may tank some time in the future considering there are several new korean places and karaoke places popping up everywhere. read more

Ok so after seeing some positive reviews, my friends and I decided to give this place a try. When we sat down and looked at the menu, we realized that the one dollar sign (average spending per person) on this yelp page has deceived us. Most of the items on the menu were over 20 dollars and there was no picture, so we had to ask the server about almost everything. Some are worded in Korean without any English translation or description, no offense but if customers can't even say the name, how are they going to order? One thing that caught our eyes were the all you can eat thing, some of us did not want to get that because not everyone was very hungry. So we asked if we can only order all you can eat for three people, the server said we can't do unlimited but they can bring out three people portion of meat, we thought it was reasonable, and it did turn out to be plenty to eat. We also ordered lemon pepper chicken wings, and this is something totally disappointing. I have the picture here, and all of the wings were thumb size. Ok if this is what I get here then why wouldn't I just go to a wing shop and get some wings that are three times the size for the same price? We asked the server, and he replied "this is the size of chicken wings for all of the Korean restaurants." We asked to confirm and he said "yes, all Korean chicken wings are this size." Even though the chicken wings were a rip off but I still left 15% tip because the server cracked me up with his response on the wing size. Another negative part about this place is that this place is also a karaoke. When the door was closed, it's ok, but when the door opens, it's disturbing to hear drunk mid aged men crack their voice. Basically it was an unpleasant experience, the food was ok, nothing special and definitely not worth the price. Duluth is a place full of Korean cuisines, and it is very easy to find something better. read more
