TL;DR @ the bottom.
Having few options for fine dining here in the Hazleton/Drums area, I was very excited when I saw this place open, read the reviews and thought, let's give it a try.
When we walked in I have to admit it is very nice inside, large seating area for waiting, almost as big as a hotel lobby. When I approached the hostess she informed us that it was fully reserved but that she would try to accommodate us. We where actually seated not 20 min later.
The restaurant is very open but much smaller than I thought. The menus where in printed paper with today's date. First red flag. Our waiter was very cheery and recommended the sangria, I ordered one (you don't have to convince me about sangria ) my friend ordered a Malibu bay breeze and my husband and her husband ordered beers. The mixed drinks where very good.
The menu is not very helpful, it doesnt have explanation on the dishes or the sides. We ordered the Cho cho which we learned are beef tips on a stick and the fried mozzarella. The beef was tender and delicious with a ginger bite, the mozzarella balls where also delicious, hot and stringy, and the marinara sauce tasted fresh and homemade.
Me and my friend ordered a salad, which is not on the menu, and they only have one, that consisted in romain, green leave, arugula, spinach and blue cheese with a house vinagrette, very tasty.
After drinks, apps and salads I was beginning to think that this place was going to be our go to restaurant, that is until the entrees came.
I ordered the scampi clams linguini, it came with penne (overcooked), I didn't complain, the food took long enough so I figure better eat now. The sauce lacked seasoning, unlike the cho cho which was seasoned perfect, and it was also a little to clammy, you know what I mean, almost fishy. Not enough garlic for my taste, it was just blah. Ate 1/3 of it.
My friend ordered shrimp scampi linguini and it also came with penne, she told the waiter and he acknowledged that indeed we ordered linguini but we decided to keep it, the food had already taken far too long. Hers was also bland and fishy. She only ate about 1/4 of it.
My husband ordered the delmonico medium rare, his favorite steak, with mashed potatoes. The steak was well to medium well, he told the waiter and he took it back to the kitchen... came back with it cut in the middle and told my husband it was medium, it wasnt, and I never had this happen before, I was speechless, at that point we just kept quiet. The "delmonico" was also select at best, chewy and coarse, not the quality steak we expected. Also UNDERSEASOND. Its double disappointing cause it was my husband's birthday. our dogs enjoyed more than half the steak.
My friend's husband had the veal marsala, he enjoyed it, I tasted it and to me it was a touch too sweet. He finished it.
You'll ask "after all that you still ordered dessert?" Yes, because, creme brulee, I'm a sucker for it and most restaurants get it from the same distributor so it's always yummy.
So in conclusion, because it's expensive doesnt mean it's good, most of the customers were 60+. Restaurant owners spent more in decor than quality of food. Wanted to love it, but alas.
TL;DR: I only recommend the apps and drinks, entrees are bland and poor quality for the price. read more
