This guy sucks. He's done 2 receivers for me and yes he got them working but messed up things in them that weren't an issue when I took them in. Example: I inherited my dad's 1971 Sony receiver, one day it just wouldn't power up. Before that everything in this receiver worked perfectly. This guy got it running but now the tuner doesn't work. I brought my friends vintage record console in for repair as a surprise for Christmas and was shocked at the work they charged me $375 for. Yes, they replaced the turn table with a restored one. Yes, it turns on/works. But what I didn't expect to find after them having possession of it for about a month was the duct tape holding the coils together... I can't believe I just paid $375 for DUCK TAPE! I don't know if they thought I would be too stupid to know that it's not supposed to look like that or what, but I feel totally taken advantage of. Maybe I should have asked them specifically how they repaired it. Maybe I should have looked at the inner workings before paying them, but like I said it was a surprise for a friend and they had possession of it for about a month, and I was in a hurry to get it back to her. (She lives in NC) All I can say is it's working, for now, and hopefully she is enjoying it. read more

Dropped off my Marantz 2100 + $75.00 for so-call tech insp. Guaranteed, the guy is a wizard! Owner told me he would call me the next day, I was there in the morning when they opened, after 4 months 12 calls where's my receiver I was informed it was to old & hopeless. It was dismantled. Sounded like beads & marbles in a coffee can. Told the owner who immediately cursed me told me to get out & never set foot in his fine establishment. I took it to LDL VINTAGE AUDIO in Garland Tx. 3607 Broadway Blvd. kind n gentle Master Technician said yea no problem. 5days $250.00 later, the world was aligned again. Mr. Lynd has since repaired my Marantz 2325 2385 2238 Hitachi SR 2004 G Series receivers. I wanted to write this review because I had a bad experience there two separate times. I took my turntable a technic sl2 which I know isn't very expensive or anything but none the less I love it and have had it for a while. It was well priced I thought for an all over check up130? He put a new needle on and I brought it home. I was dusting and I on accident moved the knob for the tone arm so I brought it back. He told me I broke the needle and that's why the record was sliding. Ok made sense. Left it ther for new needle. Went back to pick it up again and this is the bad part. I showed my slip and he said he didn't have it didn't I pick it up or didn't I take it with me? I said no I left it there. I was panicked he searched around his very messy and super disorganized shop, couldn't find it. More panic he then told me to drive Al the way back home and get the headshell which I did and he had found it. iT WAS ON THE SALES FLOOR!! He was gonna sell it!!!!! Thank God no one bought it. (I had a place that intentionally destroyed my gear before released it back to me, just because I declined the far too expensive repair, which cost more than the good used same unit I can find on Ebay). And here is my experience with LDL Vintage Audio Service. My Cary SLI-80 Signature tube integrated amplifier keeps blowing the AC fuse. I searched the internet for a good local vintage audio repair w/o good result, there are not many places that repair vintage audio gear in DFW area nowadays. I luckily found the LDL VINTAGE AUDIO SERVICE in Garland TX by using Google Search. Per their website they can repair all kind of vintage audio equipment's: Tape Deck, Turntable, Tube amplifier, CD, 8 tracks player ... they service and repair many manufacturers audio product. My (Cary Audio)KT-88 tube integrated amplifier brand is included. I hope you will find yours. I called the LDL VINTAGE AUDIO SERVICE number (214)924-7710. I was lucky to be answered by the owner of the place. I described my amplifier problem to him. With a positive response he told me he can help. Even though he isn't working at the store that day, he gave me the address of the work shop where he is actually do repair for his customers. When I was there at his workshop, after a short pleasantry exchange, the man open up my amplifier and started checking the internal circuits with his VDOM probe. Watching the man checking out my amp, I instantly know I've found an expert. Not too long after he measured at several check points. I was told some capacitors were failed (leaking)and they will need to be replaced to fix the problem. I ask the man to go ahead with the repair, without asking how much it cost. I expected to leave my amplifier with him and to come back at another day. To my surprise, he did not say so, but bring out his supply, carefully de-soldered all the failed capacitors , and replaced them with 04 new ones, while I was standing there. . Next, he" test drove" the amplifier, played it loud on the shop loud speakers, I heard my amp singing powerfully and beautifully there. That is it. It's fixed. Needless to say, I was so pleased and impressed. Then I asked him : Why you replaced the bad capacitors fixed the blown AC fuse problem? (I was thinking about common possible causes of blown fuse : bad tube, bad diode, short to ground ...). The man took time explained to me that when those capacitors in good working condition it will keep the proper bias current of the system. But when the capacitor leaked, it allows too much current pass through the vacuum tubes it raise the current much higher than the system or the fuse can handle. The fuse will be blown. Ones might need to know a little about the vacuum tube to understand his explanation. But why I need to tell you this ? Because I want to tell you this man know really well what he is doing. Finally when I want to write a check to pay the repair ,because I don't have enough cash in my pocket, and I don't always keep plenty of cash anyway. The man told me I can come back later, anytime whatever whenever to pay for it, bring my amplifier home for now and enjoy it, because I am a senior, an older guy and he want to help. I wanted to pay the repair fee right away the next day but I had my brother came over for a visit. I came back to his workshop the very next day. It was the Easter Sunday, after church service, I paid for the repair with cash plus a case of Heineken beer. They are so helpful, personable and kind at this shop!! Moved to the dallas area over a year ago and wanted to upgrade my vinyl set up with something quality but still old fashioned at the same time and had such a hard time finding any sort of options until I was recommended this place!! Can't rave enough about how much I appreciate them, purchased a receiver and box speakers and had an issue with the first receiver getting to work at all, they were so understanding that they completely "refunded" the cost of that into a new purchase on a better lasting receiver. They are the best around these parts. The woman is fantastic to deal with. The owner...not so much. I have not found these people to be dishonest. Not organized...sure, forgetful, ok....but not intentionally dishonest. I have had many things repaired here, about 6 receivers, all Pioneer with one Marantz all done well, except one. It was returned still not working, in a different way, and they took it back in and made it right....no additional charges. I think some people here think that DVA tech's went to Hogwarts school of electronic repair and they expect to get their unit back restored to brand new...but they don't work miracles here...only repair your OLD stuff. If you remember the audio gear that you loved the sound of and couldn't afford when you were buying your initial gear, you should visit this shop. The stock varies from week to week so you can never tell what will pop up there. Most of the gear is 2 channel stereo of all types. I saw turntables, reel to reels, tube amps, power amps, receivers, and dozens of speakers. The owner explained that the home theater electronics trade is slow, so he doesn't stock them, but I did see center channel speakers and subwoofers there. They fixed my vintage Pioneer receiver in a week. It had a problem with the audio cutting out after a few seconds of play. It sat in a competitor's shop for 2 months and they could not figure out the problem. Very fast, very honest, very friendly and fair prices. They also have a small showroom full of vintage receivers, speakers, tape decks, turntables, etc for sale. I live by the Galleria so they are a little out of the way, but worth the trip. read more

I left my unit there to be repaired and they "lost it" it was an Akai M8 and sounded great. I thought it was funny when I left it they did not have a number system and didn't mark that it was mine. I finally filed in small claims court as every time I went by or called the owner claimed he forgot to pick up from his other shop. Long story short, I won a judgement in court in the amount of 250.00 and they don't have the money to pay me. Watch out for these people, they are very shady at the least. This shop is technically a very good place to repair older equipment and to buy older equipmen that has been refurbished. But, if you take something to them for repair first take lots of pictures of your device including pics of the plate with the part and serial numbers and get a receipt showing what you handed to them and when. Itook a receiver I bought when I just graduated from college. It was a Yamaha with a unique loudness control. Dallas Audio lost it. I am not really that upset. The problem with thunit was more than likely uneconomical to fix and I didnt have to pay them the $25 diagnostic charge. You just need to prepare to help them with their disorganization.
