    Hot Smoked Trout and Simit
    Austin W.

My friends and I dined at Dalida on a Saturday afternoon around 1:45 p.m. and we were able to get seated without a reservation with only a short ten minute wait. We started our meal with a round of cocktails. I tried out their Bodrum Negroni -- cacao infused mezcal, miso red vermouth, satsuma cheong, ferment, saline, and it was a refreshing spin on a classic. It was boozy, but well-balanced. We started our meal with a few items off the "for the table" section of the menu, ordering the the "breaking bread" and breakfast spread". Both items come with a piece of their chubby pita, a super fluffy, thick, freshly made pita. Between these two items, there are a total of ten different dips and bites to try out. The favorites of the table included the muhammara -- a roasted red peppers dip with walnuts, the tahini and molasses spread, and the kaymak -- similar to clotted cream, with jam. If you're coming with a group, I'd definitely recommend ordering these two spreads and an extra chubby pita for $5. Along with the dips, we also got the octopus and sujuk. The knife-work and presentation on the octopus is unlike anything I've ever seen; the dish is beautifully presented and almost too pretty to eat. The octopus is cooked perfectly and I really enjoyed the saltiness and brininess of the olive-caper garnish on top. By this point in the meal, we were actually becoming quite full. For our mains, we shared the Arayes kebab and the hot smoked trout. From the Arayes kebab platter, these shoe-string fries were hands down some of the best fries I've ever had. Reminiscent of McDonald's fries, the ones here are incredibly crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and generously dusted with seasoning. Continuing with the pattern of beautiful presentation, the dish is also very aesthetic. The kebab meat is stuffed inside a chubby pita and is grilled to perfection. There's a nice crust on the meat, and kebab is made with with a cornucopia of herbs and spices. I was too a bit too full to try more than a bite of the trout dip, so unfortunately, I didn't have a chance to properly enjoy or evaluate the dishes. Overall, my group had a delicious meal at Dalida. The service here is fantastic, and food and beverage is solid all around. Definitely worth venturing out to the Presidio to try at least once.

Solid food. Nice ambiance in the presidio. We came here for Tuesday lunch and I was able to find parking outside of the restaurant. I like the breaking bread (chubby pita and dips) and beets salad, and was a bit unimpressed with the octopus appetizer, though it's pretty. We also had the lamb shoulder, ny steak and black cod to share. The entrees came in a big portion and perfect for sharing. Service was friendly and water was always filled. Overall I liked the food here but a bit pricey for what it's for. The location was incredible.

Dalida is amazing all around. Food, service and vibe are amazing. Restaurant is beautiful! Gil was our server. Very nice, very professional. We did not have a reservation but they sat us next to the bar in the lounge area (one table). But honestly I think it was the best spot in the whole place. Food is excellent. Will definitely be returning, with a reservation.

Our server was incredibly attentive and helpful, but the front desk ladies were so rude to my friends. I see that this is not an uncommon experience, so maybe this location would be wise to rethink their employment status. We booked for two parties (one party of four and one party of three) since they do not accommodate large groups and simply requested to be seated next to each other. We arrived later than our reservation, but there was not a full house by any means. There were plenty of empty tables, and two tables seated next to one another IN THE CORNER OF THE RESTAURANT that were empty and did not have parties surrounding it, but the front desk women insisted that seating us next to one another would "disturb other patrons" and that we were already late, so the implication was that we had no ground to stand on to make any demands. Two people in the party ended up no showing, so we ended up only having five people total. You're telling me you can't seat five people next to each other? A party of three and two? They ended up filling the table next to our friends with another couple 30 minutes into our meal. Inconveniencing others because you've been inconvenienced is unprofessional. Being late and having no shows is no excuse to intentionally revel in some weird form of power play schadenfreude with your restaurant's own patrons. The most ironic part is that Dalida's menu claims that the owners mission is to "share food across the table", which is not what we ended up doing. Are they sure they don't mean to share food across the entire restaurant? I want to emphasize again that our server was excellent, the food was also very quality and made with care. I loved the arayes kebab, my friend enjoyed her octopus, we both shared the creme brulee toast and thought the blood orange syrup and cream was divine. The California Tadig was just okay but the seafood quality was high, I would skip out on this (especially with the price). I would simply never go again because of the front desk women.

Reading reviews and considering coming here? Make sure to check Opentable to reserve a spot before locking in on this one - most popular times are booked within days of them being available. Parking is free on the Presidio after 6PM, but you do have to pay if you're coming in before then. Inside can get a little loud, and most people actually put somewhat of an effort to dress up! Service was fast and friendly, and we were seated instantly for our reserved time. We celebrated our anniversary here and left a note on the reservation, and to our surprise we were offered a glass of champagne on the house! We ordered the Octopus and Sujuk, Baking Bread, Crab Pasta, and Lamb Chops. The must orders are the octopus and baking bread, as that is their signatures and ones with the most unique flavor profile/presentation. The pastas are pretty basic, and the lamb chop was super tender and flavorful. The lamb is a little gamey, but the potatoes paired with it drowns out the flavor a little. Service was fast for the appetizers, but took a minute for the entrees. Our server was very friendly and patient with us as we asked questions regarding the menu. We felt pretty full afterwards despite the portion sizes looking a little small in the pictures. However, I do not feel like this restaurant has a "replayability" factor - the dishes were all good individually, but nothing out of the uniqueness that you can't find at other middle eastern/mediterranean or similar restaurants. The main difference is the atmosphere.

Love this place! It's a hot commodity too because of its proximity to the Tunnel Tops and the lawn. So make reservations especially during the weekend. Sayat, the head chef, is a friend of a friend and he's always so welcoming. The food is always on point and the service never fails. Not to mention that the restaurant itself is beautiful and inside of a beautiful building and park. For dishes I recommend pretty much everything. But my personal favorite is their Arayes Kebab (which I still call the Arayes Burger from the early days). Seating outside is only for brunch/lunch so just be prepared.

    "Breaking Bread with its accompaniments."

My girlfriend and I met for lunch at Dalida and it was both our first time to try it. We ordered their "Breaking Bread" to start. It was delicious and came with several accompaniments. My favorite was the hummus which I enjoyed with the bread. For our entrée, we had the "Black Cod" and "Short Ribs." The cod was flavorful and fresh! The short ribs were okay. We did share a "Chocolate Torte" served with a tiny scoop of vanilla ice cream for dessert. Well, the ice cream was good but not the chocolate torte as the bottom crust was too hard and almost inedible. It was a nice lunch after all since my girlfriend and I absolutely enjoyed catching up and the service was excellent! Sonia was exceptional and Sly was attentive!

I came here because I loved that the restaurant had a similar name to mine, but it impressed in ways way beyond the name! The breaking bread was so good that I ended up ordering it twice, and I am still dreaming of its chubby pita muhammara. Also, the PS I Love You cocktail comes with boba - so fun! My only issue was we were sitting by windows and the breeze kept coming in. Food: 10/10 Drinks: 10/10 Service: 9/10 Ambiance: 7/10 Vegan-friendly: 8/10

Came with a big party and got a bunch of items to share. Everything turned out delicious and parking was easy to find outside. Was surprised the lamb came out like a ground ball they put back together on the bone, but it was still yummy. The octopus appetizer was pretty good too.

Came with a large party and was able to try a ton of dishes on the menu. Highlights included: Smoked yogurt in Breaking Bread Octopus & sujuk Pork cheek souvlaki Solid, beautifully cooked: Tahdig Lamb shoulder tandoor Aleppo chicken Dry aged NY strip Also solid but maybe lil less interesting given all the bold flavors here Fattoush salad Broiled cauliflower Skip: Anatolian erishte Date cake (saffron ice cream was great!) Kayseri manti, Dungeness crab hilopides and galieh black cod sound really good - high on list to try next. The "let us cook for you" prix fixe sounds like a great deal. Cocktails were amazing - super fun flavors and combinations. Pasha was a crowd fave - feel like tomato water is everywhere now and this was a good one. Jane meets the devil was nice, and Saturnalia was good though on sweeter side for me. Family style private dining was an experience. You will not leave hungry. Was pretty full after apps. They asked if we wanted more food after all the mains were served and we were a little shocked. The food is really heavy though. They packed up tons of leftovers, which fed us for days. Service was lovely. Restaurant is beautiful. The private room ran really hot even with windows open, and folks were pretty uncomfortable.. especially those on other side of windows. Super easy parking right outside.

Came here because we love the breaking bread! It's a delicious chubby pita with various hummus/yogurt dips to accompany it. This was the first time we came here for dinner and we really enjoyed the arayes kebab and black cod. The pork cheek was also good but I'd rank it last out of the four items we had. Service is always great here and ambiance inside is nice, just a little noisy at times.

    Lamb shoulder
    Evan Z.

Trout appetizer: this was quite delicious, the sauce nicely complemented the fresh trout. However, the dish is quite expensive for how small it is at $22, so I probably wouldn't get it again. 4/5 Breaking bread: the pita bread was super fluffy and delicious! The three dips given each had a unique flavor profile - I personally enjoyed the muhammara dip the most, it was perfectly smoky and tangy and had a subtle hint of spicy. 5/5 Saffron tahdig: this was above average, I thought the spices used for the rice were fantastic but I personally didn't enjoy how hard and crunchy the rice at the top was. The barberries were a cool addition to the overall flavor that somewhat helped mitigate the hardness of the rice. 4/5 Lamb shoulder: this was amazing, definitely the highlight of the meal. We were surprised by just how tender the lamb is when we cut it and ate it. When it's hot, it simply melts in your mouth. The sauce was also nicely spiced, it felt like it had a touch of cinnamon among some other sweeter spices that was nice. We also ended up dipping some of the lamb pieces in the muhammara dip from the breaking bread dish. Chickpeas and potatoes were also delectable and cooked perfectly. One last addendum is I appreciate that we received quite a large portion for the lamb, it was definitely big enough to split among two people. 5/5 Cute restaurant in one of the prettiest areas I've ever been to (Presidio). The servers were super nice and attentive. Highly recommend! 4.7/5

I've wanted to check out Dalida ever since I saw Chef Laura on Top Chef, and the food did not disappoint! We didn't make a reservation so we waited for an hour at the bowling alley and then we were seated at the bar. We loved sitting at the bar because we were able to ask the bartender for food recommendations! To start, we got the sunchoke kebab. Neither of us have tried sunchoke, and we were lucky to try it in kebab and chip form! The kebab was quite tasty and I liked the firm texture of the kebab. Sunchoke seems like a bland ingredient, kind of like a potato, so it paired well with the slightly sweet glaze and super garlicky sauce! We loved the garlic sauce and were eating as much as possible with every bite of sunchoke! Duck dolmas - we were so impressed by the plating and the cute little citrus fruit garnish! The dolmas were not too vinegary, the way a traditional dolma can sometimes taste. The duck and citrus paired really well together because the citrus helped brighten the heavier duck flavor. Our favorite dishes were the tahdig and lamb chops. The tahdig was perfectly crispy on the outside, had a beautiful saffron flavor and color, and the inside rice was nice and soft! The lamb chops were so unique! It was almost like there was a lamb kebab wrapped around a tender chunk of lamb meat in the center. The presentation was incredible! We also loved the sauce that came with the lamb. It made the hummus more flavorful and we loved dipping our lamb in the hummus and jus! The quality and price are soooo worth it, unlike some other restaurants in sf. I can't wait to come back and try more food!

The version here is mixed with vodka but no bubbles. It's barely noticeable though because they made it into such a fruity concoction, I couldn't even taste the alcohol. My group threw some darts, mingled with and chatted up others as they arrived, and eventually migrated to the nightclub side of the bar. We were able to snag a table for 3 inside without waiting. The menu wasn't too overwhelming with many options, so it didn't take us long to make our choices. We wanted a variety of appetizers and ate family style! All the food came out at once. I'm not quite sure if timing it that way was wise. I think it would have been better to come out with appetizers first, the entrees because some dishes were cold by the time we got to it. And food prepared hot just doesn't taste good cold! ***OUR PICKS*** AHI TUNA CONES ~ Scallions, sesame, sambal chili mayo, soy, pickled fresno chilies, lime. I thought it was bland and needed some more zest to the tuna, or the dressing did not stand out, possibly from too much mayo. Crispy cones, though. 3/5 BUTTERMILK FRIED CALAMARI ~ Spicy marinara, house tartar sauce. The way it was fried, it seemed as if the oil wasn't hot enough, so the flour absorbed more oil than it should. When biting into the calamari, I got a burst of oil. I've had fried calamari without greasiness. This was quite the opposite. 2.5/5 CRISPY BRUSSELS SPROUTS ~ Soy glaze, toasted garlic, lime, sriracha aioli. Another oily-tasting appetizer. No amount of sauces helped cut the grease. 2.5/5 FISH AND CHIPS ~ This was probably the best out of all we had and it was the special for Fridays. The batter was crispy and fish was tender and not overcooked. Fries were also crispy, even though they were like steak fries. Pleasantly surprised that these fries were better than the shoestring fries that came with our burger! 4/5 BALBOA BURGER ON A BAGUETTE ~ house-made pickles & onions butter lettuce, shoestring fries. The 3 of us shared this by cutting it into sections. The burger had more baguette than meat, so we barely tasted the beef. And the bread wasn't toasted so it was cold, dry, hard but chewy. I think sourdough slices would have made it taste better or a brioche bun. It was bland even with jack cheese, as if it wasn't seasoned with salt and pepper. But the burger was cooked perfectly at medium to medium rare, but it needed other saucy condiments to liven it up like some mustard, mayo, or an aioli. Fries were not crispy or crunchy. It's better at McDonald's. 3/5 Although it's been a long-established restaurant, its food was mediocre. We probably should have ordered only entrees or just drinks. Realizing after eating, lots of what we ordered was fried. It was greasier than we wanted and we felt heavy after our meal. Probably our fault for choosing incorrectly. Thankfully, we walked here and we were able to exercise most of it off before going home. The dining area was pretty noisy, so we had to talk louder than normal. It's not a place you should go for conversations. Possibly sitting outside would have been more pleasant; however, it was windy and chilly, our food would have likely been eaten cold. If you're looking for a cocktail without deep conversations, this spot might be for you! It's lively and popular in this neighborhood. But for food, I'd go elsewhere.

The event, Wine & Wings, wouldn't have been much without the chicken wings to say the least. And, whoever is back there frying the chicken, THANK YOU! It was fried hard, but still juicy and flavorful. I enjoyed: lemon pepper (soo good), buffalo, sticky mango, and there was one other flavor...but I forgot. All of them were flavorful, but lemon pepper stole my heart. I also snatched a taste of their fried cheese sticks and fries. There's not much to say about it-it's fries! The bathroom was extremely clean-which is huge for me.And ALL the bartenders were super friendly. Parking- GEEEKKKK! I had to circle the block twice and ended up parking 2 blocks away. I guess that's the typical parking situation in the City so, yeah. Before leaving, I briefly chatted with the owners (a man and a woman) who was also very customer-focused and friendly. Even during the full wing-rush hour. Ha! Overall, I'd go back.....via public transportation. I'll add videos/pictures a little later.

I savored their rum, hot cocoa and toasted marshmallow cocktail; the warmth and flavors really hit the spot. The Christmas decor here is on point; they nailed it! Must experience this place. I spoke with the owner directly; great guy who has put a lot of work into this place and it shows. He has three locations in SF (this is a review for the Sutter street iteration), and I'm going to visit them all. Try to go on a week night when it's less crowded. They host official Santa Con shenanigans, so it's gonna get crowded this weekend. For good reason.

The fluorescent lights were on bright so it drowned out the Christmas lights. This place did a snow show last year. I asked about it, got a lecture and no snow. Worst of all, they played extremely loud, annoying Hallmark movie, Lifetime channel basic white broad Christmas songs. With some skrillex mixed it. Weird. The other girlies started leaving. The drinks are delicious, especially Santa's Grog. But they ran out of it at 6pm. The Christmas decorations lacked spirit and soul. Hoping for better next year.

After a park day at the Presidio, we wanted to move the party and we decided on Bar Darling. It was a Saturday afternoon and it was jam packed. Luckily we were able to get some space in the alley way for us to order drinks from our server. We've been on a Friday around 5pm on another day, it wasn't as busy, so definitely a great place to start and maybe end the night. In a time where craft cocktails have gotten really expensive, Bar Darling offers craft cocktails (their signature cocktails) all for $14 each. If you know Peacekeeper, you know there's a lot of thought and imagination that goes into their drinks and it definitely shows here. My favorites were the Mama J (tequila based) and the Jaji (mezcal based). The aesthetic and vibes of this place is 10/10. Definitely great for a group of friends and/or date night!

I'll note that the promotional photos online give a somewhat misleading impression of the ambiance. The actual interior is considerably more modest and utilitarian than advertised. We ended up seated outdoors beneath one of those industrial heat lamps, which was blasting uncomfortably hot air until our server kindly switched it off at our request. That said, the service was efficient and attentive. Our drinks arrived promptly despite the crowd, and the staff managed the busy room well. Nothing particularly memorable about the experience, but perfectly adequate for a casual evening out. A solid four out of five stars.

A little underwhelming…read more My friends and I stumbled across White Rabbit on St. Patrick's Day when the neighboring place was too busy. We should have known that this wasn't the most popping spot considering the holiday and how we pranced in without too much of a fight. It was rather empty when we were there. It felt like more of an empty room that just so happened to be a bar. Things just seemed spaced out awkwardly with furniture that didn't go well together. It was rather quiet too. I could not even tell you what music was playing because I could not even hear it. I do appreciate that the place was festively decorated though. It was perfectly on theme for St. Patrick's Day. The bartenders were super friendly here. My friends and I were trying to take a picture together and the bartender kindly snapped some shots of us (both horizontal and vertical pics...chef's kiss). We ordered a round of their Jameson Jell-O shots and they were super good. I'd be curious to come back on a typical weekend night to get a sense of their atmosphere in a different setting.

My friend Denise and I were talking a walk after dinner, and we passed this place. What drew us…read morein, was the music, which I will expand upon later because it was mood shifting in an everlasting way. Denise was indulging me, and I, on vacation, was looking for a place to pip and bop. We stepped in, not knowing much about the place. We soon found out the name of the establishment: White Rabbit, which automatically made me want to see a Red Queen and Hookah smoking bug. But I saw none. What I saw was a chic spot, with space to dance, sit, sip, mingle, and other such items, but nothing that proclaimed that this White Rabbit belonged to the Alice-in-Wonderland-Universe of known fame. To be fair, there was a mural that was a focal point of the place, which did give Alice vibes in a strong way. However, this mural also did not depict the Alice of Wonderland that Disney allowed us to imagine, instead it gave us Alice gone vogue. The Alice mural (as pictured) has a twenty something girl, with flowing hair, of different shades of blonde and autumn. The girl was looking aimlessly to the horizon. Her eyes were blank yet full of wonder and fully open to an unseen opportunity that she can only love from afar. Her white rabbit had a third eye, and in one hand, she was holding a sweet pop that took the shape of a mushroom and was elegantly oozing with melting pink cream. The picture had become an editorialize version of Alice in a Wonderland that was more modern haute than traditional elevation. I would have preferred an experience that saw a performer dressed as the Mad Hatter and another like the Cheshire Cat. Thus, this vibe claims the name of the White Rabbit but does not deliver an Alice-esque experience. I would have like to know the ambiance of a bar Called Poe's Raven so my imagination can adequately manage its future responsibilities. I went during the days after Christmas, and before New Year's so there was not a lot of people there. This also explains why there is a Grinch and light up tree inflatables around. I can imagine that without the festive decorations, of the season, this bar is a chic cocktail bar where people go to meet and chill, and not discuss the symbolism of the Walrus, the Carpenter, or Anne Hathaway's portrayal of the White Queen. Meaning it is a place to have a good time, not live in deep dialogue. I had three drinks for 16 each. They were strong, well-crafted, and I had three, which says I liked them. I could have had more but my friend Denise was not in the party vibe. And now to the music which was the reason I was excited to write this Yelp. There were three DJ's in the house. The DJ's made Cake Walk, an artist collective who combine rhythm, time, work, and beat and remix (or maybe even update) classics of the 90's and 2000's. In a phrase, they make sweet honey for the ear drums that invite dancing, and general movement thats speaks life into a night- they just carried a good beat along! Denise, who only drank water, and I were vibing to the music, she was sitting, I was not. One of the three DJ's came along to us. His name was Landon, and he was just as nice, sweet, and uplifting, as his and his friend's music. We had conversations about our roles in the world, and how each of them mattered in a specific way. He invited me to party in San Diego. It might not happen, it likely will not, but at least, I believe it could. This was inclusion practiced to a grand degree, in a bar that could be a lounge or club, depending on the night. I want to stress that Denise and I went in because of the music, we stayed cause the place was cool and had drinks that were solid, but it was Landon, and the other DJ's who made the night into a party. For people who are not party dawgs, being escorted into the laser-filled moments of a night, is priceless. Additionally, he invited me to the DJ machine- record spinner? Not sure. And I touch some buttons. Honestly, it looked like a space ship shuttle, with all its button and knobs but I know it is not. I am just trying to describe what I saw based on my knowledge on these machines, which is basically zil. As Landon, and his two co DJ's spun and turned knobs, what seemed to be their parents rolled in. They were dancing, they were taking pictures, I got to see a moment of familial support, in a way I had not seen before. I mean I do not know how many parents would go and party for a quick two minutes when their children were spinning records for a crowd of less than 5 goers. But seeing it was quiet beautiful as all youth deserve to be supported by people who love them unconditionally. And on this night I got to see this promise fulfilled in dance. As I was dancing by myself, Landon came to my side. I started to make the make it rain move, you know pretending that I have enough singles on one hand to just dispense them into the air. And when I did that Landon started to follow the singles dropping with his eyes, expression and movements! Umph!!!
