Absolutely love this place! My boyfriend is southern Indian, and it's our favorite place to get great Indian food. The chicken tikka masala is my favorite and his is the butter chicken. The mango lassi here is good too! And I love how they sell Limca. Been coming here for years. Door dashing from here is great as well. Can't recommend enough. :) read more

I'm a college student writing this as a senior who has been here for 4 years. I only get the tika masala and always end up liking the plate/to go box. BEST Indian food here! read more

Was in the area for some Indian food, this was my second time eating at Dakshin. The food was good but my rice was a bit undercooked, and the Naan was ok. It is a busy place! As for the decor they need to clean it up and lighten up the walls. It is dark inside. This is a place for a quick and easy Indian meal with reasonable price. read more

I've been here several times in the past few years and it never disappoints. Lately I've been getting the shrimp biryani with garlic naan. Very large portion and the raita it comes with is delicious. Today I tried the samosas as well, which were amazing. The sauces it came with went well with them and were a nice addition to the biryani. My only complaint would be that the garlic naan only comes with one naan cut in half per order. Most other places I've been have at least 2 per order. Other than that I have no complaints. The food comes out fast and the service is great. read more

Everything is amazing. The lady was very helpful when ordering. Love it !!! The food is great and the atmosphere is warm.

I walked in to see tables and chairs available. You can order on a kiosk or from the register. Pay at either as well. They had 2 TV's playing middle eastern music videos that were awesome. The lady at the register was so kind and made sure we were well taken care of. I ordered the butter chicken and garlic naan bread. It was amazingly great. Now I crave it on a daily basis. I will be back to try the entire menu! read more

It's unreal how much I crave their food. The chicken tikka masala is so good that my mouth waters just thinking about it. I always go for an order of naan to help soak up that delicious sauce. Nothing I've ever ordered from here is bad, but it helps to know your limits when it comes to spice. I'm a wimp so I stay on the low side. read more

Dakshin is the only place to get South Indian food on campus which I really appreciate and go there often when I miss that food. The mango lassi and chicken curry is really good and the mini thali is good for having a few sides and comes with gulab jamun and a naan/chapati option. I usually get mini thali with chicken curry and sambar or daal. Food doesn't take long and there is a kiosk for ordering. There's also indoor seating. There is a general sign about allergy information saying the food may have these ingredients but there is no information about specific dishes. Otherwise, I would reccomend! read more

DAKSHIN - Mini Thali Chicken Curry Mango Lassi - Indian Near Me - West Lafayette, Indiana

Restaurant is small but nicely decorated, service is nice and will help you with any questions or anything you need. The food comes out very quickly (never waited more than 5 min) and has great portion sizes. My boyfriend and I love to get the mini thali (a plate with basmati rice, 3 different curries, and 1 gulab jamun) and chicken 65 biryani and share both. Chicken 65 birayni is a large portion and I can get 3 lunches out of it. Chicken 65 birayni from Dakshin is the best i've ever had, the chicken 65 has the most flavor and it not dry, the rice is seasoned perfectly too. The raita is light and has good flavor too. The mini thali has many options to choose from, any of the chicken curry, paneers, or dal are amazing. Naan is amazing along with the rice. Gulab jamun is perfect treat too. Love this place, a staple for us. read more

When I used to visit LaLa in 2012-2016, making trips from IU to see my best friend, we never got Indian food. That was mostly because we knew the best Indian food was made in our houses, but also because there wasn't anything great to try. When I visited my cousin, an undergraduate at Purdue, last fall, I was surprised to see that she wanted to go to Dakshin. After all, there was so much on campus now, and I'd just brought her a truckload of Indian goodies from home! Not to mention that Purdue is supposed to have some of the best dining hall food in the country. But away we went, to grab her gobi manchurian, and after a few bites I saw why - it's undeniably spicy, evoking the level of spice you get with dishes in India. The place is also canteen-like in nature: customer service is a non-parameter, and the food speaks for itself. I took my parents a few months later during a visit and they stuck to their typical North Indian orders (despite Dakshin offering South Indian food): chole bhatura for dad, parotta-kurma for mom, and chili paneer for me. All three lived up, with my father even buying extras for later in the week! When an Indian dad willingly pays for extra Indian food to take to a household where cooking is a daily occurrence, you know you have a win on your hands. read more

Tried this place for the first time last night. I tried a combo plate with paneer masala and butter chicken. Both dishes were really delicious. For $12, you do not get a ton of food, but I wanted to try two items. read more

DAKSHIN - Paneer Tikka Masala and Butter Chicken - Indian Near Me - West Lafayette, Indiana

Food was cold, service was awful. Owners kids were running around the dining hall and kitchen while coughing. Will not be returning there.

It wasn't that good at all. I tried a variety of things. Taste of India across the street is x10 better.

We order from here often, and it never disappoints! The food is great and we have never had a bad service experience. It's also always a plus when a nice local family owns the place! We will always come back :) read more

This food is pretty good for the food it has although some improvements on customer service and food presentations would be good. They made faces when I was taking time to order. Although the food came quickly but the daal seemed like it was just reheated and did not seem fresh. They didn't even give any onions with it. They could've also been polite while taking/ giving the order. Overall above average but needs improvement on areas. Thanks! read more

I've tried quite a few Indian restaurants in the Lafayette and West Lafayette area and this one trumps them all!!! Amazing flavor, fast preparation, and great service! This is the place I would recommend if looking for tasty Indian cuisine in the Lafayette area!! read more

Picked up takeout of South Indian fast food (poori), chaat, and chicken tikka masala. The flavors and spices were great. I wish I had ordered the dosa or other South Indian food. read more

Everything is awesome here. Best Indian food at purdues campus, butter chicken and chicken tikka masala are amazing

Their food is sickening! I just pointed something pretty randomly on the menu and it turned out good. However, the girl at the cashier gave me this nasty attitude that just made me didn't even stay one more sec in their restaurant. She was being extremely unfriendly to me and my friend the whole time, at the end when I was asking a punch on the punch card, she literally lied to me that I could only get punches for one specific dish, which was being said very differently from what was being printed on the paper. During the entire visit, my friend and I was polite, and nice, so I really had no idea where this girl's nasty attitude came from. The food is really good, but I'd definitely say get take out instead of intaking that cold face and unfriendly environment there. read more

Well first things first, food was good and tasty. However, for the price... serving size was small, naan was half the size of what you get in N.california. Knocked off a star as service was really bad, it felt like most customers are floating population so the owner/cashier didn't really care to serve customers in a friendly manner. Not sure if the gratuity is included or because it is fast food style they dont expect people to tip them. Just felt that I need not have tipped looking at the service or rather dullness of it. read more

Best Indian food on campus!! So yummy! I recommend this place to all my friends! The samosas are my favorite but everything is great:)

Pathetic food. I got a diarrhea from the veg Manchurian. It must be stale or something. The taste was below average. I can make better food at home than what I will pay for here. Staff is rude and when I called for an order, he kept me on hold and started talking with someone else in the shop even without telling. Please don't waste your money here. Instead, just watch some recipe videos and make food at home! read more

We placed an order in the restaurant and had our food ready to carry out within 10 minutes. The service was good and fast, and the food was delicious! We got the chicken tikka masala and lamb biriyani. Both were delicious. This wil become a regular spot from now on read more

I ordered the paneer tikka masala and it was delicious! I found that the serving size was appropriate and I was even left with extra! The naan tastes fresh as well. I would come here again and would recommend this place to others (: read more

Great food! I love the chicken Tiki Masala! Perfect amount of spice!!! Truly tastes great! The only down side is that the portions are small. I paid $30 for rice, entree, naan, and drinks. I expected a little more than what I received. read more

It is a small place with good food. There are certain things which can be worked upon to make it better. I feel that the quantity is less as compared to other places (based on price) and the guy on the counter is pretty rude. I have been to this place for 3 times and it was always the same. The service is sometimes delayed. read more
