    Tofu pho

Decently authentic Asian cuisine, we got three pho bowls, chicken, tofu, and steak. Very large sizes but minimal protein, boring flavors, Sriracha and other bottles didn't aid in either giving good tongue tingle or color to the basic soup appearance. Surprisingly fantastic spring roll and dip! They can obviously do flavors, textures, and crunchy goodness which needs to expand to the rest of the menu. Our Thai was also delicious, balanced and giving hand crafted bonus points for rich sips. This is an odd location, bustling with takeout during our dine in, not sure about staff or atmosphere given we only saw one friendly guy everywhere amidst the half renovated space. I personally would do Thai next time for some denser filling food but can recommend for trying new stuff!

I came here on a week day for the first time recently and I was satisfied with my visit! You order at the counter then they bring your order to you wherever you're sitting. There was lots of seating when we went. For the pho, I felt the meat was pretty tough and the broth's flavor could be a little stronger, but this is solid pho for Lafayette. I definitely will drop back in when I'm in town again.

This place is so good. We came through once on our way to Tennessee to break up the drive and happened on this place. And came again on our way to see the solar eclipse because we like it that much. It's little and not much parking, but there's ample seating and it's cute and clean (no changing station in the bathroom though in case parents of littles were curious). The bahn mi is on the right kind of bread--crispy outside and light and flaky. A lot of them are usually on a doughy Italian bread? This one is good! The pho broth is really nice and clean--and a great option for littles who can't handle spicy. The owner is super sweet; she came to talk with us for a little. We also took out the jalapeño to share the bahn mi with our daughter, but something was still spicy for her and she cried. Oops. The owner brought her some juice, which was very unnecessary but so kind of her. Great experience both times! TL;DR cute place, sweet owner, tasty food that's light but satisfying

Visited for the first time on 7/22 for a sandwich and I was not disappointed! Ordered the marinated pork banh mi sandwich and it was delicious. My favorite part was the bread - soft and flaky. Yum yum The veggie flavors were fresh and crisp. If felt the pork could have used more flavor to compete with the veggies but overall very good. Tried a pork dumpling and I will never order from anywhere else again. Flavorful and perfectly fried! I will be eating here again! The take out business is pretty hopping. While my party was fine in (only ones), there was a steady stream of people picking up orders to go. Recommend that you try this if you are looking for something new and different than traditional American food.

This place definitely gives me a college student stop. Stopped here when I was touring Purdue University, we didn't want anything too heavy, so we stopped by here to grab some lunch. Mu friends all got different things from their banh mi to their pho. I settled with lemongrass pork chops and chicken potstickers. My friends enjoyed their dishes, the chicken potstickers were good, but nothing crazy, but the porkchops. Let me tell you about the pork chops, when I say that this was the thickest piece of Vietnamese pork chops I have eaten, I really mean it, most Vietamese restaurants I have been to and I ordered the porkchops they are usually flattened. But here they gave me the thick kind, and it was decently well cooked, pork chops,if not cooked properly, they tend to be really tough, but here they got it just right. What would really help kick this pork chops kick to the top is if was served with a side of fried eggs. That would be a win! For about 13 to 15 bucks (for the pork chops) it is a pretty good deal and with the pot stickers it was about 20 bucks, not a bad deal at all.

    Combo Pho

This is a hidden gem and deserves more attention for their sandwiches. The pho is a solid 3/5 and worth having when craving noodles soup. The true star are the sandwiches 5/5.

I decided to go vegetarian at this Vietnamese restaurant; tofu bahn sandwich, vegetable dumplings (they're deep fried) and fried tofu. My girlfriend had the shrimp spring rolls. The food was outstanding! The baguette was absolutely perfect for the sandwich. The tofu was perfectly deep fried - not soggy and definitely firm! I wasn't a big fan of the dumplings, but they were okay. We will definitely be back next time we are in Lafayette.

Without the sauce the spring roll tastes quite bland like how it should usually be. Steak and mestballs: the steak is VERY tender and the meatballs tastes really nice like a soft pillow with a meaty flavor. The noodles are well made and compliment the entire pho really well as the main idea. The soup is also quite exquisite being such a tasty broth that sinks into every aspect of the dish. The service was quick and amazing. The look of the place wasnt too fancy but that's all right for a local shop.

Greetings! Once…read moreagain it's time to tell you about a place you need to know about: Green Leaf Vietnamese Cuisine. I stopped in West Lafayette for dinner and Green Leaf got the nod as it had a solid reputation with Purdue University students (Boiler Up!). I wasn't planning on writing about Green Leaf, but after my first bite I knew I had a worthy contender to share if the meal continued to deliver. It did, so here we go! Tucked away on a quiet street is an unassuming entrance...you walk into a friendly wide open space with twenty foot or higher ceilings and the host invited us to sit at any of the twenty tables. Upon seating, our server, Will, approached and our experience was underway. Will immediately impressed me with his heart for service. He was attentive, informative, engaging, and diligent. We ordered fresh spring roll as a starter and our pho entrees. Will appeared with the spring rolls and sauce...sadly I cannot eat peanut so he brought me a sauce without peanut crumble. He explained that he made the sauce, cooks, serves, and manages Green Leaf. As my pictures show, one bite and I knew that Green Leaf was a local gem! Our pho was fantastic. We ordered a flank steak pho and a signature pho that included several meats, shrimp, and tripe. Both pho dishes came with generous portion of rice noodles, side veg to put in the pho, and plenty of broth. I later learned that the soup cooks for twenty hours...talk about flavor development. Bathrooms and general decor are serviceable, but should be as great as the food. A fresh coat of paint in places, a revisioning of how supplies are stored, and an overall look with eyes open will reveal where Green Leaf can make some strategic improvements. To me, the little things matter as much as the big things. The food is great, the space should be great, too! Green Leaf will get a return visit in the future...I loved my food, and I loved the heart that is put into the service and the recipes. Will: Keep up the great work with Green Leaf, your efforts and products will keep customers like me coming back again and again! Until next time...tk

How authentic could a Vietnamese restaurant be in Danville? I already knew that authentic Chinese food could really only be found in Champaign, so what are the odds that this Vietnamese place was legit? Turns out, I've found my new favorite spot in Danville and I definitely want to try it all. Since it was quiet on my first visit, my first impression of the restaurant came through the owner/chef. Apparently he has a team of two when it gets busier, but he will handle things on his own when there are less people. Let me tell you, the owner is quite the character, but I think he really gives life to the restaurant. He's very outgoing, a bit of a jokester, but a very personable and hardworking guy, someone we can all relate to and admire. He talks freely about his life and how he ended up and Danville and the origins of his restaurant, all fascinating stories. You definitely miss out on the total experience if you don't get a chance to chat with him. So back to the original question at hand. How authentic could this Vietnamese food be? Here's the answer - absolutely legit, and delicious too! My first visit I ordered their grilled beef Vermicelli Bowl and I took it to go. It was organized very nicely and the dish was great. There were so many different flavors going on, but everything was balanced. The beef had a richness to it that was countered by the acidic vegetables and fish sauce that was poured over the top. There were also a lot of great textures from the chewy noodles, the beef, the lettuce and even the spring rolls. It was really filling and was an experience for my palate. While I had my noodles, I was thinking about another dish I saw on the menu so I came back the very next day to order their fried swai fish on fried rice. This was another incredible dish, and one that was very different than the last one. Rather than there be a lot of different components, there were just a few things done very well. The fish was fried perfectly and the flavor was popping. The fried rice was also done very nicely. This dish was a culmination of the restaurant itself, a few things done to perfection. Their menu isn't super big, a couple of phos and rice dishes, but I feel confident that in this case, less is more. The chef's kiss on this restaurant are the prices and portions. This restaurant has the quality and serves up enough quantity where they could charge $20+ easily. They do that in my hometown, and it's not nearly as good. I would implore you to support this local business, it's got a great owner with even better food, the best in Danville in my opinion!
