"The service at this barbecue place was really disappointing. The staff seemed unfriendly and made me feel unwelcome. Definitely not a place I'd recommend."

So, being new to the Bryan/College Station area I wasn't sure of a good bbq place. A close friend of mine who lives in nearby Caldwell, TX suggested Daisy Dukes BBQ. I decided to check it out and was pleasantly surprised! I got the brisket tacos and a side of potato salad. An odd side to get with the tacos but; I always like to check out at least one of the side dishes when checking out a new bbq place. The atmosphere was wonderful and made me feel I was in an old hardware store that happened to serve great bbq. The staff was very friendly and the owner even came out and said hi. When I got back to my friend's house and opened everything up, the tacos were still hot which was nice. The flavor and tenderness of the brisket was spot on. My only suggestion would be to use a little less on the toppings and perhaps use more bbq geared toppings to go with the taco, such as bourbon caramelized onions, cilantro, and diced red onion. The potato salad was pretty standard fare and bit too creamy for my preference. Also it could've used a boost of seasoning, a little extra salt and pepper never hurt anybody. Will definitely be back to get a regular bbq plate. The place has a lot of potential and has been a local favorite for years and more than likely years to come. Come and enjoy!

Ribs and sausage are great! I love the Mac & cheese. Burger is pretty good and so is the brisket and catfish.

Yummy BBQ in Caldwell! If you like big baked potatoes and brisket, they have them. The beans and potato salad were great too.

There is some seating available in the restaurant, but seating is mostly outside (largely covered, with fans going, thank goodness!). The service is fast and extremely friendly! We split a 3 meat (brisket, pulled pork, brisket boudin sausage) 2 sides (famous Brussels sprouts and pinto beans). The brisket and pork were dynamite! Brisket was a good mix of lean and moist, beautifully smoked. Pulled pork was soooo moist!!! Pintos were very flavorful classic Texas beans. Brussels were sweet and very lightly spicy. I love a good potato bread and they serve Martin's here. I could have eaten my weight in their house made pickles...they are the perfect foil to the richness of the meats. Both sauces were also fab --a classic bbq with a little extra vinegar than some, and a great mustard based sauce. We didn't have dessert, but the cakes look divine!! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming, with a nicely decorated dining area and plenty of seating. The staff was incredibly friendly, which made the experience even better. But of course, the real star was the food. Let's start with the brisket. I tried both the lean and the moist cuts, and they were both cooked to absolute perfection. The bark was fantastic--a deep, flavorful crust that gave way to incredibly tender meat. We were also offered a sample of the burnt ends, and they were delicious, a rich and savory bite that left me wanting more. The Hatch Chili Oaxaca sausage was another highlight. It had a smooth, mild flavor that let the sausage itself shine. The cheese had a nice texture and a subtle hint of chili that wasn't overpowering. The ribs were also outstanding. They had a great bite, just the right amount of pull from the bone, and a wonderful flavor. The classic salt and pepper rub was perfectly balanced, enhancing the meat without dominating it. For the sides, I was impressed with the potato salad. It was wonderfully creamy, loaded with big pieces of potato and bacon, and had just the right amount of onion for a nice tang. The mac and cheese was also great, with a very creamy sauce that had a fantastic flavor. While the noodles were a little on the softer side, it didn't take away from how delicious the dish was overall. Overall, this is a top-tier barbecue joint that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a truly great BBQ experience.

Coleslaw was tasty... not a big fan of coleslaw overall but my liked it. The fountain soda was a little old as water was dripping on the side as I was filling up my Diet Coke. Place is clean. Bottom Line: The finest BBQ experience in the College…read moreStation & Bryan TX area is found on Hwy 21 a few scant miles west (about 5 mi from downtown Bryan). Excellent & inexpensive BBQ and truly exceptional people make C&C BBQ out on Smetana Rd a "Must Do!!!" stop in the area. Your taste buds will be happier and your day will be brighter for it. You can thank me later. Top Line: As is typical on my BBQ road tripping, most eateries in the College Station & Bryan TX got a single visit to check out their vittles & their digs. It takes someplace special to draw a second visit. In the College Station & Bryan area, that place was C&C BBQ. An alternative BBQ joint got slid down the schedule to make time for the second round at C&C on Sunday, since they are currently only open on Sat & Sun. Charles's touch with his smoker is exquisite. The smoke note in the meat is not sharp, edgy, or acrid. His smoke flavor comes out round, balanced, full, velvety, and smooth. His rub has enough peppery snap to give it character, without being harsh or aggressive. Again, balanced and masterful. Ribs on the first visit were meaty, arriving trimmed quite free of fat. This gave the smoke excellent access to the meat, which took it up very nicely. Brisket sandwich on my second trip west was very, very tender and wonderfully juicy. It was a 4-napkin sandwich! That indicates just how tender & moist it was. And it was equally tasty, exhibiting like the ribs Charles's mastery of his craft. Sides are limited to four items: potato salad, whole kernel corn, green beans, pinto beans. Potato salad has a slight hit of pickle juice jumping it up a bit. Corn with diced tomatoes has a bit of bite & snap to it, setting the corn apart from its usual semi-blandness. The green beans were very tender & seemed to have butter dancing in the mix, which made them more flavorful. The pinto beans were rich in flavor due to having some shredded meat added in. Their texture was on the mark as well. Banana pudding was the weakest link in my estimation. The taste was pretty typically sweet banana pudding flavor, which is not a bad thing. The texture, while being smooth & creamy as pudding should be, struck me as being a bit too moist. The vanilla wafers cookies had gotten soggy from the pudding, so there was no crunch or solidity contrast to the creamy pudding. Cost for this Nirvana of BBQ heaven was mondo cheap (see picture), particularly given the extremely tasty food. C&C BBQ is not only some of the very best BBQ in the area, it is also amazingly high value eating due to it's miniscule prices. Also, kudos to them for having a bathroom on premises to clean up in after your (over) indulgence. But to only mention the quality & cost of the food is to tell the lesser part of the story. The greatest part about eating at C&C is the bright, shining, positive, effusive, enthusiastic, sunshiny, uplifting personalities of Charles & Carol. These two folks radiate joy & happiness at an astronomical level. To hang out with this pair while downing such good BBQ makes your visit a jewel among the days of your life. So head west from Bryan TX to the junction of Hwy 21 & Smetana Rd to get your own shot of sunshine from Charles & Carol and a chowdown of their bodacious BBQ. As I said above, you can thank me later.
