3 meat platter and 2 meat platter

WHAT A HIDDEN GEM! I've known Charles and Carol for a little while now and have had their BBQ on my list of "must try" places for several months! This quaint restaurant is humbly tucked away behind an old antique shop but that doesn't mean people don't know about it! We arrived 10 minutes before opening and I'm glad we did because a few minutes after we placed our order SO MANY PEOPLE SHOWED UP! Everyone was a regular who knew what they wanted and to catch up with everyone. We wanted to try everything on our first visit so we ordered the 3 meat platter and the 2 meat platter with smoked chicken, pulled pork, brisket, ribs and sausage. Sides were pinto beans, potato salad, corn and green beans with 2 sides of banana pudding. OH LAWD. Everything was DELICIOUS! The brisket was absolutely amazing! You barely tugged on it with your fingers and the tenderness of the meat just pulled apart beautifully in your hands. The perfect amount of fat to meat ratio just caused it to melt like butter in your mouth. Close sections were the sausage and the chicken! AMAZING! We loved the green beans and will definitely be ordering more of those in the future! Also MUST TRY the banana pudding! Homemade family recipe to wrap up an amazing bbq meal! We'll definitely be back soon and refer to anyone looking for good Texas bbq! Thank you Charles and Carol!!!

Remember when Fargo's BBQ was in that decrepit looking shack at its old location in Bryan, and you were unsure about going inside? You'll get the same feeling here when you see this very divey looking place by the side of a gravel road. The feeling might be heightened when you step inside to the small, cramped space and see a crowd of very burly gruff looking local workmen staring back at you. But these folks know something you don't. They know that incredible BBQ is here. Hiding in plain sight off a busy highway. Y'all know about Fargo's, Martin's, C&J, and Kreuz. How many of you know about Lone Oak? Now you do, and should. They sell out fast and the lunch crowd is big, so my advice is go early around 11 when they open. A few small tables will probably be occupied when you get here, so repair to the shaded picnic table outside. On a board are the daily specials. I had brisket, because that's what you check out a new BBQ place with. Holy God was it good...moist, smoky as hell, and just delicious. You can smell the smoke before you even see this place. Another hidden gem on Highway 21. You will almost certainly not see anyone from TAMU here, and business does not seem to be suffering for it.

Everything was fine. Nothing bad and nothing awesome. The food and service were what we expected for a night out nowadays.

Outstanding BBQ. The ribs are a must. Some of the best I have ever eaten. Worth the drive from College Station.

Lovely people and the food was good but I went with the intentions of getting beef ribs and all they had was pork.

If this just happened once, I wouldn't mention it. But since it happened twice in a row, I would no longer recommend them. My rating below is from 2 years ago, and it has consistently been good for two years until recently. Not sure what changed, but something has. Frank's Country Store & BBQ is a hidden gem in the BCS area. Let me say right off the bat, as a native Texan who has eaten at a majority of the Texas Top-50 Barbecue joints, I judge all barbecue joints by their brisket. In Texas brisket is king, and if you can't smoke a brisket properly, you might as well hang it up. I really could care less about sides, as basically anything will do. And, I do like to try some sausage in most of Texas' good barbecue joints, as a lot of towns have different sausage recipes. I assume Frank's uses Slovacek sausage, since it's the king sausage of the BCS area. Frank's has some GREAT BRISKET! Nothing more to say.

They have three different sauces to try, including a mustard-based one that was interesting. (I liked being able to control my sauce mixings) There are free white and wheat bread and a good spread of fixings like pickles, onions, and jalapenos. We came in for a late afternoon lunch, (post-lunch rush) and it was super quiet. This was our first meal back in the College Station/Bryan area so it was a pretty easy, low-stress stop. Staff was efficient, and there's a patio area if the weather's nice. They also run daily specials.

I'm sure the price for this place is reasonable, just overall expensive in general. Anyways, I ordered the "I want it all" dinner pack which consists of 1/2lb beef, 1/2lb sausage, 1/2lb chicken, 1/2lb ribs, and 2 large OR 4 small sides which we chose the mac n cheese, smothered green beans, corn, and mashed potatoes. I also ordered a side of pork belly and banana pudding. Everything was very flavorful especially the brisket, beef rib, and pork belly. The chicken and sausage were ok. I did a takeout order so my pics don't do this meal justice from that traditional all on one pan bbq presentation look. Overall, it is a delicious and I'm sure reasonably priced joint. We'll be back whenever we crave for some bbq. Staff were friendly and fast. Lots of parking and tables to dine at.

I brought the whole family and we left stuffed, happy, and already planning our next visit. The brisket was melt-in-your-mouth tender with that perfect smoky bark, and the burnt ends were absolute heaven, crispy, and packed with flavor. The sides were just as impressive: creamy, cheesy mac n' cheese that felt like a hug in a bowl, rich twice-baked potatoes loaded with all the good stuff, hearty beans with just the right sweetness and smoke, and everything complemented the meat beautifully. Save room for dessert because they do those right too. The banana pudding was silky, nostalgic perfection, and the cobblers were warm, fruity, and topped with that flaky crust and Blue Bell Vanilla Ice Cream that makes you want seconds. The service was outstanding and genuinely friendly from the moment we walked in. The staff made us feel welcome and took great care of our large group. The restaurant itself is fantastic , spacious indoor and outdoor seating, plus party rooms that make it ideal for family gatherings, celebrations, rehearsal dinners etc...or just a big Sunday lunch. Cooper's nailed every part of the experience: incredible food, warm hospitality, and a comfortable, family-friendly atmosphere. This is Texas BBQ at its finest. We'll be back soon! I highly recommend bringing the whole crew! Rod Gray Cypress, TX
