We try to come once or twice a year now but when we lived in the area (a mile away), we'd go at least twice a week. Some things have changed over time but the essence of the store is still there - gobs of food and drink at often great prices, non-food items (all different kinds) at reasonable to excellent prices. We could buy cases of pop for literally a fraction of what you might pay elsewhere. You just kind of have to go in there and experience it for yourself. I have known a few of the workers, particularly Mark, for many years. He's long been a dedicated employee (if he's still there). You will find lots of food items past the expiration date but with very few exceptions I have found the quality inside to be just as though the expiration date was a long way off. Chips are one of those items. The savings are stark here compared to those in regular grocery stores if you don't mind taking a chance of consuming the item after the listed date. I never batted an eyelash. I don't know if they still have tax free Tuesdays or 77 cent Fridays but unless they have dramatically changed, this is truly a worthwhile store to go to for all bargains. The neighborhood has regretfully declined a bit in recent years and its crime elements are on the rise so if you can, try to patronize Continental during daylight hours (perhaps this is why it's a bit more challenging to find a parking spot in their lot during daytime). Hope to go back sometime in the near future. If you live out that way or are within a half hour drive, it's well worth the trip - last I checked.

I go…read moreto the store and it's either Glendale Heights or Carol Stream on Gary Avenue.. the store is So dirty, your hands get filthy from picking up items to look at them. It is also so overcrowded with items when you look at the clothes, you have to push really hard to make a space to look through them.. The items on the shelf are four and five deep and not the same thing so you might see something at the back of the shelf that you want to take a closer look at and you have to move three or four other items to get at it, which of course kicks up a lot of dust which aggravates my allergies. That store needs a major cleaning and a major reorganization.. They need to narrow down the items that they have put on the shelf and on the clothes rack.. when I go there I feel like I'm hunting through things in a warehouse type setting not a nice store. Also, as is the case with many stores these days, you can never find a person working on the floor who can answer questions for you.. they need to hire more people to be helpful, to keep the store neat , clean and organized.

It is a store with odds, ends, and all types of trinkets. All for $5 or under. The store is a step up from the cheapness of the dollar store, but all of their items still have the similar low end quality. I suppose the trinkets are good as stocking stuffers, hence why I come. Name brand items such as LOL products were found. I'm unsure how "real" the items are or if they are even worth it, but as long as the name is stamped somewhere my eldest will be happy. Yet, I digress. Clientele here are pushy and dramatic. Not where I want to be on my day off. It isn't the store's fault, as many associates were friendly enough. I only wish some cashiers knew what they were doing so that I could have gotten checked out in less than 10 minutes. Standing there as he attempted to work the phone or even scan my item was a little weird and time consuming. You definitely get what you pay for.

I also found taller bouquet vases that you can get at Target for 3$ for a buck. Stuff like this makes my day. I felt like I had gotten away with something that no one but me knew. I couldn't stop smiling all the way home. The store is very large, clean and well stocked. I bought a few boxes of kleenex, hand sanitizers, a couple of picture frames and raisenettes. I gave them the two stars for several reasons. There's never enough staff here and on top of that although this is located in the very nice Oak Brook mall, they are facilities for their restrooms are absolutely appalling and disgusting. It is not only filthy, but they are so worn down and worn out. The only positive about this place is that they are constantly stocked with product and really cute trinkets and things to purchase regardless. Of course they have a little café as well, but even that needs a real facelift and renovation. Because even sitting here in the furniture is disgusting. Home Goods opened at 8 but it was pouring rain so I did not get there till 10am. It was packed..like all of Oak Lawn thought it was the last day on earth. Home Goods knocked it out of the park with plenty of staff, cashiers, helpers to load your car, a packed store with all your favorite design items. They had staff keeping shelves arranged and tidying up aisles. Expediters would find you a cart person to move your item up front because if you left it- it would be gone to some other customer who was faster than you. They had a beautiful champagne frosted mirror foyer table I got for $50 less than Minnesota when I was there. The aisles are a little tight but who cares when you are in heaven. It was men, women, couples, the whole neighborhood must have arrived. Parking lost is spacious but packed that day. They had people keeping carts back in from the lot. You could feel the frenzy and delight of us all as we found great deals, rugs,furniture, lamps, mirrors, linens, beautiful art work drapes and accessories. It is always a happy place when I see beautiful things like that. Well planned opening with well trained people, plenty of staff who were very nice and free Home Goods huge Shopping bags you could keep on entry as you arrived and take home. It replaced the store across from Ford City and so much better an arena to shop at.
