I showed my son, still parked, and he noticed a dried playdoh in the toy's mouth, multiple indents on the toy's head, ties holding the dinosaur were loose and the box was previously opened but taped shut. What turned out to be a quick pick up was me and my son having to go inside - grab the correct toy from the toy section (mind you, there were new dinosaurs of the same item perfectly stocked on the shelf) then head over to the returns and exchange line which was long due to some Pokémon card release. And on top of that which should have been a clean swap, the cashier expected me to pay the difference. I said no and asked to speak to the manager. The manager questioned me on my drive up - pick up time and after me explaining that I JUST picked this up at drive up she couldn't believe it herself. I showed her the drive up sticker on the box that had my last name and pick up time, literally 10 mins apart. She stated that no scans were necessary and an even swap was all that was needed. This was all such an inconvenience. Visibly damaged items that have been returned should never be given to another paying customer. Cause now I'm not even going to spend my hard earned money at Target, unless I am gifted a gift card. 1st time this happened last year, I bought a revlon blow out tool - someone's brown/blonde hair was still wrapped around it. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was disappointing. I am still recovering from surgery, so having access to a handicap parking space was especially important because I needed to conserve my energy for walking inside the store. I saw a vehicle parked in a handicap space, with the driver still in the car, without a visible placard and brought it to the attention of the security guard inside the store. I was disappointed that he did not seem willing to assist. He mentioned that there was security outside, but he did not offer to contact them or help connect me with someone who could address the situation. Given my circumstances, having to walk around the parking lot looking for additional security would have defeated the purpose of needing accessible parking in the first place. I still enjoy this store and appreciate the deals I've found here over the years. I just hope management will consider how situations involving accessible parking are handled in the future. For customers with mobility limitations or those recovering from surgery, those spaces can make a meaningful difference in whether they are able to comfortably shop.

Most things are priced at $1.50 unless otherwise stated. This place is a knick-knack heaven. It's got so much merchandise and the store is very clean and organized. With that said, the one star comes in because of the very poor/racist customer service. My dad came here and bought a bunch of stuff the other day. One of the item, a knife sharpener was defective. The store's policy is No return and No exchanges and that's fine. But if things are defective, they need to take care of it. People are NOT paying money to buy things that will fall apart fresh out of the package. So my dad brought the item back to the store (the next day) and the manager was called out by the cashier. This young manager who appears from his demeanor to have just come from Japan came out to "help" my dad. He stared at the knife sharpener for a good 5 minutes, as if he didn't believe my dad. He asked my dad "How did you use this?" My dad responded, "I used it the way it's supposed to be used, there's instructions on the packaging." The manager continued to examine the knife sharpener. Ok Manager dude, this $1.50 piece of crap is defective. Just give my dad a refund and quit wasting his time. The POC (piece of crap) was purchased yesterday and fell apart from one use. You staring at this POC isnt going to give you more evidence on why this thing is a POC. Next comes the *Racist Remarks*. This Manager had the decency to look at my dad, who is Chinese by the way, and said "It's because it's Made In China" ... OK WTF? Are you going to be racist now when you store is at fault for selling defective products?? Seriously, wtf was that comment about and what does it have to do with your ability as the manager to fix the problem?? My dad responded: "That is not my problem. It obviously met the specs of your company. The item is defective, fix the problem." Finally after back and forth for nearly 30 freakin minutes, the incompetent Manager lets my dad exchange the item. RACIST, Big waste of time, Terrible customer service and Horrible way of handling problems. This is one star well deserved, Daiso. read more

The place is wonderful! I came here the first time with my friend and I was surprised with the amount of products they had! And its not just the huge amount of products, but they have all these different kind of products that can be really useful in daily life. Because of the excitement, I went around the store for more than an hour and ended up buying more than twenty things, including cosmetic products, cute socks, acrylic painting supplies, dessert cooking supplies, economic bags, a little pouch and some snacks. I politely asked her if I can purchase one squishy they were guarding behind the counter. I was only pointing at which one and as I was leaning in to point, she rudely snapped and told me to "BACK OFF! "BACK UP!" Apparently I was too near the products that she was guarding behind the register. There was literally a gate/door that blocks the entire shelf, which I wouldn't be able to touch anyway. I was taken aback by it and startled. I found that to be completely rude, out of line, and very unnecessary. She thought I was trying to snatch them? I am a regular paying customer here. I don't know what kind of customers this store gets but I buy here all the time with no issues. The squishy products I know are popular with buyers, but I am not there to steal. When I was cashing out at a kiosk, no one came to help. The same rude female worker stood at the back and didn't say anything either. She was with another girl and they stood there gossiping and chit chatting and just both looked at me and turned around without saying anything. I spoke to the manager Claudia and as I was trying to speak, she was talking over me and I couldn't really get my point across. She was not a good listener. She was trying to rush me and get me off her back. The young workers that get hired here are incompetent, uneducated, and just lack customer service skills. Just young kids trying to collect minimal paycheck with minimal training. My suggestion in the future is proper training and how to politely speak with customers in a friendly manner. Just overall, manners in general, which their parents probably never taught. Because of this poor customer experience, now I am uncomfortable and not willing to step foot back into this business.

Review #932 2025-111…read more Located Torrance Promenade noisy north of Trader Joe's, Five Below takes over the defunct Party City. And if you haven't heard of them, they're a specialty discount gift shop chain that prices most of its products between $1.00 - $5.00, with some exceptional finds $5+. I've seen this store off the 405 Fwy. (Hawthorne location) due to the brilliant blue name signage, but have never been to one until one of the moms from my son's Cantonese school mentioned there's a cute graphic tee that's she must get: "You're All That & Dim Sum!" at the Rolling Hills store (refer to Review #923). Since that 1st visit 2 years ago, I've been infrequently visiting the discount store, especially around the holidays. They have awesome stocking stuffers! Their tees are only $5.55 ea., & the fabric is quite durable. It's been 2 years & both tees (You're All That & Dim Sum! & Born To Game Forced To Work) are still in excellent condition... color is still dark without fading, no pilling, comfy fabric. There's a couple of current tees that my son thought would be awesome gifts for his cousins: "Somedays You Feel Like You're Surrounded By Idiots Other Days You Realize It's Not Just Somedays" & "My Alone Time Is For Everyone's Safety" (older thinks he knows best & younger likes his space... LMAO); while my nephew & his wife has a sense of humor, they're more likely to be pissed off at me. Then he thought there were 2 that perfectly suits his personality: "To Save Time Let's Just Assume I Know Everything" & "You Are Witnessing Greatness"; to which I reply you're just asking to be beat up. Yeesh! O_o I got some candy bags at Sugar Rush, but you can opt for their mix & match bins where you can get 10 pieces for $1.50 or 15¢ ea. There's a huge Haribo gummies section at $1.50/bag, but you can get similar ones though less flavor options at the Dollar Tree for $1.25. The bargain bins offers knickknacks between $1 - $4, & found some cutesy stocking stuffers for the LOs. While the Torrance location is new, it's not as easy to navigate like the Rolling Hills location. I seem to have this issue with all stores (Dollar Tree, Grocery Outlet, Target, Marshalls, etc.)... LOL... I get used to the layout, & go to a different location & get turned around trying to find things. And holiday shopping is a little stressful for me; I like to get in & out as quickly as possible, Customer service is friendly & helpful... different staff approached me at various sections asking if I need assistance. Considering how jammed packed the parking lot was & heavy store traffic, I only had to wait for 1 customer before it was my turn to use the kiosk to scan my purchases. Is this the sign of the times? No register/cashier, only self-service? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I usually bring my own bags, so I'm not sure if they charge for plastic bags like grocery stores or you're required to purchase reusable totes. Parking is plentiful except during the holidays when it's jammed packed the week before, & slightly after Christmas. Five Below is a great alternative for the bargain hunter! And now that the holidays are here... check 'em out for gift giving ideas.
