For the longest time, everything in the US-based stores were $1.50; however, with inflation in 2024 and the 2025 debut of tariffs, the prices of these imported items have noticeably crept up to $2.50-$10. The rising costs of the items makes Daiso less of a one-stop shop for me; however, they have really well-made and useful things for inexpensive here. Though there are dozens of Daiso locations in southern California, this location in Torrance happens to be a very well-stocked location. In Japan, Daiso has spinoffs called Threeppy (home goods under $3) and "Standard Products" (inspired by Muji). You can't easily find items from these spinoffs at US Daiso locations; however, I've seen some items from these brands in this location. Despite the rising costs of the items, it's hard for us to pass up a visit to Daiso; especially at this well-stocked location in Torrance!

I received the email receipt; however, the barcode image never displayed. The barcode number itself is visible in the email. On September 25, I returned to the store to return the items. I showed the associate my original email receipt on my phone, including the barcode number. The associate was unsure how to process the return because the barcode image was not showing, so she asked a manager for assistance. I believe the manager's name was Sidney or Cindy. Although she was standing directly in front of me, she spoke only to the associate instead of addressing me. When she asked why the barcode was not showing, I explained that this was how the receipt was originally emailed to me. She ignored my explanation and began assisting another customer without resolving the issue. The associate attempted to manually enter the receipt information but told me she was unsure how to do it and could not get it to work. I stood at the counter for approximately 20 minutes holding my small baby in a store that was already very hot because there was no air conditioning. During this time, the manager passed by us several times but made no effort to assist or resolve the problem. I was extremely disappointed with the manager's lack of professionalism and customer service. Her overall presentation was also concerning, including visibly dirty hands and several broken nails, which added to my concerns about the professionalism and cleanliness standards being maintained in the store.I then contacted customer service via email, Julie N provided me with a copy of my receipt with no barcode and I informed her the store doesnt know how to process a return if the barcode isnt displayed.I wrote back again Informing the company I need a receipt with a barcode Tony replied and stated all sales are final when five below website states a full refund is due if you return the items within 90 days unopened with a receipt.

Thus she can stop into any close Goodwill location, donate, and then stop into the adjoining thrift retail store to do a little shopping. There is a QR code to scan, to automatically generate a tax receipt for the donation. Unfortunately, the first step of creating an account via an email never worked, so gave up to try again later. Nevertheless, it was a good stop, where she bought a dress for herself and one for her mom. The store was well staffed with helpful associates. A smaller version of other stores that sell overstock garbage. This place is technically used as a storage. For the rent they pay to lease it, must be a hard sell not having customers. I don't even think they separate or rotate their items on different days that are different prices. A $1 item is sold on $10 days. Doesn't make sense. There were also different prices advertised all over the store which looks confusing. My advice is tend to your customers, pay more attention, be more friendly, clean your items or remove unnecessary waste from the bins and rotate items that should look like their prices.
