The 4 stars is for an efficiently-run location with really helpful staff. Unfortunately, because of the tariffs, prices have gone up exponentially. At the outset Daiso was a $1.50 store, then $1.75. Now the lowest cost items are $2.25 and things that cost a little more have doubled in price - 300¥ ($2) items are priced at $6USD, 500¥ ($3.30) items are priced at $8USD. I had such sticker shock at the self-checkout that I ended up putting a couple of the higher-priced items back. I will no doubt continue coming to Daiso, but with these cost increases, I'll definitely have to be selective about what to buy. This is still my fav location in this area, mainly because of the drama-free parking :) read more

This review is based on cleanliness, and organization. It is a smaller branch. They usually have what I'm looking for, however they need to stock more inventory. They're either short on items, or not enough. They only have a couple of selections for their items. Overall I haven't had any other major complaints at this location based on service. They are usually friendly. My only concern is that they need more staff here. The cashier is usually wandering around or nowhere to be found. Sometimes no one is at the front minding the store, and you're there standing in line waiting for them to come out of the woodwork. There's always only 1 cashier and MAYBE one person on the floor stocking up. read more

Love Daiso always. This location was very neat and orderly. Had a little bit of everything, even the small dog section I rarely see. Came on a weeknight and only noticed about 2 employees on the floor, 1 restocking and the other helping a customer find something. Honestly was an introvert's paradise since the staff seemed friendly and helpful and made themselves readily available by walking around and around. I only saw self checkouts, not sure if this is new or a weekday thing? But like I said, INTROVERT's paradise! Can't beat the Daiso value! Just wish more of the kitchen gadgets and dinnerware were dishwasher safe! read more

The store has gone downhill with new management. The employees used to greet customers when they walked in and used to be attentive. Now they are replaced with employees who are cold and managers who do not help or are condescending. I have been to the store a few times since all the new staff has been hired and there is nobody in the store to help out. I have heard employees in the back talking while there was a line for the registers and nobody inside the store. It is sad because this daiso has the best selection of stuff but it is not worth going to anymore because of how bad the customer service is. The prices have gone up too. There are a lot more things that cost more than the baseline price. I can deal with this because of inflation but will not be back anymore to this daiso after my recent experiences. read more

The good: I love Daiso because they sell so many cute Japanese kawaii items that you can't find elsewhere. Items include: ramen, snacks, pet supplies, party supplies, makeup, ceramic bowls and more. I always find things I didn't expect to buy. For instance, they have a camping section! There are disposable grill grates, small lanterns, stainless steel pots and cups, mesh hangers, small fold out chairs and more for camping. Also, I got metal rack thingies that I used to create a barrier for my cats. I haven't seen something like this before because the shape is tall and skinny which was perfect for what I needed. The bad: You can't take the shopping carts outside. So, bring bags! The interesting: There are so many different S hook varieties there. When my Japanese nanny came to the US she asked me for some and I had no idea where to get them except for Amazon (expensive!). read more

I've come here pretty regularly for the past few years; i've had such great interactions with the staff up until recently. I feel like the magic of Daiso has left a lot of locations, and this is a store where you can definitely see that. With Trump implementing Tariffs, it felt like the entire store changed with it. They have hired a whole new staff, even down to the management and replaced the cashiers with self checkout systems. However, with the changes come a lot of bad ones; nobody monitors the self checkouts, leading to you chasing a worker down like Pac-Man in the aisles. The store also seems a lot dirtier now, with workers working on big projects way more often it seems like they have less of an eye for cleanliness. One of the biggest changes I've noticed is the workers who would welcome you into the store are now all replaced by ones who stay silent and don't acknowledge you until you acknowledge them back. (where's kevin and his tip jar?????) The selection in the store hasn't really changed but you can tell that the Disney/Branded items are way more plentiful, and there's a lot of items that break $5 that normally didn't. One of the new workers has a smoking habit- he takes it outside to the back, but you can totally smell and catch him doing it if you come early enough in the day. If he meets eyes with you, he'll stop and go inside, lol. Overall I'd recommend any of the other Daiso locations, as they all have a more attentive and friendly staff, are much cleaner, and have much cleaner and responsive self checkout systems. This place does not share the same love for customer service as any of the other Japanese owned stores in the area. Though universally the prices have gone up, the surrounding Daiso locations in the area (like Gardena) offer a lot more variety and a way better vibe. read more

I have always loved this place. They always have great items for a great price. Most items are $1.50 to $2 and if not, they will be labeled with the price. They have everything from storage, kitchen, garden, party, camping, and fishing items. I am probably missing some other top items but you just have to go for yourself. I really enjoy the beauty section because you can find so many items for the great price. They have nail polish, fake lashes, and some other pretty unique items. A few of my favorite items are int he kitchen area. They have cool tools to cut bananas, avocado, apples, and other fruit. They also have a great selection of Disney items and other cool characters. This is regarding my experience today at specifically this store, this was my first time visiting this store location today. Once I walked into the store I was greeted , I grabbed a few things in my basket and waiting for a cashier. I was the only person in line then finally I see a worker approach the register to finish the task they were working on. I didn't get acknowledgment at all while I was waiting to get ring up for my products, the worker did not say anything to me. This store is a bit smaller than some others so the selection looks a bit less. Parking is easy tho. But it's a Daiso and the staff is friendly/ helpful so it's a good place to look for odd little stuff you need or didn't know you needed. read more

i've been to this daiso only two times but both have been pretty good experiences. the last time i came i bought two little piggy banks that were less than $4 each! there's tons of affordable items in daiso from stationary stuff to cooking supplies. i mainly came here to see if they had any miffy things in stock but there weren't any. they did have some good sanrio and bt21 items. this daiso is located in a pretty spacious plaza so there is tons of parking around. the inside is big and as any other daiso store. i'd say most of the items won't exceed over $10 which is really good for the quality. the customer service was good, i was welcomed when i came inside the store. there's not a lot of people usually. it's very clean inside the stores and everything is stocked up read more

Daiso is the Japanese "Dollar Tree / 99 Cent Only Store" equivalent but with much higher quality items and unique inventory. You'll often find great gift items with low costs and high perceived value here. It's a great place to shop. In Japan, there's Daiso's there, so in fact if you visited Japan and were obligated to bring back souvenir gifts to friends and family, you might be wise to not buy them anything in Japan and then when you come back, just shop here and fulfill your social obligations conveniently here :) ...it's basically the same stuff from Japan, imported here to America anyway. read more

Daiso is the place where you go in wanting one thing, and then go home with 10-20 things. It happens all the time. I have been coming to marukai (now called Daiso) for years now. You can find the cutest school supplies, kitchen, bed and bath and gift supplies. Its all $1.50 (some items will be more). The store itself is very clean and well stocked, you can easily find things that you need. I usually go here for school supplies like highlighters, notebooks, pens, pencils and post it notes although every now and then i find cute stationary. I also get plates and cups, stuff for the kitchen, and gift supplies (cards, gift bags, and wrapping paper). They also The cashiers are very nice. However, They do charge 20 cents a bag so please bring your own. Overall, i highly encourage everyone to come here at least once, I guarentee there is something here that you need and its very affordable. read more

Most items are $1.50 each! Daiso is like a 99 Cents Only Store or a Dollar Tree... except that this store has merchandise from Japan! I like these inexpensive shops. I usually can find something cute (like hair accessories, stationary, socks, etc.) for my nieces and something useful like household goods for my mom and sisters back home in Hawaii. The shelves here are well stocked as compared with the Koreatown location. This Torrance location also seems to be tidier and have wider aisles. There was only one cashier, but she was efficient and friendly! I liked the free parking and quality Japanese goods! I sure am looking forward to returning! I bought these artificial grass patches at Daiso. It came up to $20 to fill the nook which could be slightly expensive for a litterbox mat, but it is totally worth it. Cats even use it for scratch board sometimes but it's very sturdy so I don't need to worry. It holds the litter 98% so there is very little crumb on the outside floor. read more

But like all other Daisy's you can find cheap pretty decent made trinkets and other stuff. Cheap prices as well. It's the 99¢ store of Japan now on our American shore. Everything is $1.50 except where noted. Much of the stuff sold here is either tschotkes or common goods needed every day such as skin care products, cheap make up, hair supplies, practical dry goods of all kinds. There is a wide selection of Japanese candies, cookies, crackers, chips, even traditional snacky foods such as various dried fish, deshelled roasted chestnuts all from Japan where the chance of getting contaminated food is comparable to high U.S. standards unlike other parts of Asia. Daiso- is a great variety store that hews to a more East Asian style of variety store. This is one of the better daiso that i've been to in southern california. It's one of the biggest one that kept the cleanest. I've been to mutiple daiso in the city - surprisingly there's a lot of them in the south bay. Love the little trinkets that we find here. There's a lot of DISNEY stuff here from stationary to kitchen ware! So its always fun finding random things you thought you didn't need until you see them! Everything is $1.50 or above. Anything that's not $1.50 it's marked on the tags of the items so be careful when you're purchasing things thinking they are $1.50. One thing that's not fun about this is that... there's a NO REFUND or EXCHANGE system. It's a good system for them so that they don't have to deal with many exchanges but at the same time, some of the items don't fit at my house or etc... and it sucks to purchase something to find that it's not something we need but can't return it. read more

Bargain stores in general can be tempting but when they're packaged to look cute and colorful then it's just downright dangerous. I think the Japanese are onto something with their marketing strategies. I've been tricked many times into believing that I need something when I really don't, but because it looks cute and colorful, I can 8/10 times be swayed into buying it. For instance, I almost bought a pair of socks that I was trying to debate on whether they were for a pet camel or lobster. It took me awhile to figure out why there was only 1 groove (instead of 4 or none like standard socks) that separated the big toe from the rest of the toes and it was for those days where you wear socks with flip flops...my bad. Another aisle distracted me long enough where I almost bought coasters because they were cute and kitschy...the 2/10 times I wasn't completely swayed was prevailing. The aisle that was hard to fight was the yan-yan aisle that reminded me of my childhood days with sharing those little breadsticks and dipping them in chocolate...doing what kids do: like giggling, double dipping, and probably giving each other strep throat. Chocolate was the typical flavor but I was pleased to see that they had the strawberry, peanut butter, and the vanilla one too!! My eyes quickly glanced at another childhood treat and they happened to have the White Rabbit candies that had the edible paper and milkiness that melted in your mouth...F-me! So I walked away and walked away quick...2/10 won today! That aside, the perks of this location is the fact that other stores like Mitsuwa, Torihei, 85C, Hisaya Kyoto are all within walking distance from each other. read more

This Daiso is located in the shopping center next to Mitsuwa; easy to walk to from the Mitsuwa parking lot but the entrance is on the Carson Street side. The interior seemed about the same size as other Daiso stores I've been to. It's clean, organized and has great lighting. An observant and helpful employee saw me searching the aisles and asked if she could help me find anything; she took me right to what I wanted (I was way off the mark). I thought this store had a more varied inventory than other Daiso locations. I think it's a good idea to buy multiple items if you find something you really like. I have purchased things in the past at Daiso and have gone back to get the same item a few months later only to realize they no longer have it and never will. I ended up purchasing tea bags, a cutting board, sponge, slippers and a bottle of Calpico. They only have one checkout line here unlike other locations where they have separate lines for cash or credit (but the line still moves quickly). read more

I remember hearing great things about Daiso! It was about time I went to one! I decided my husband and I should go check it out. And yes it's all true. All the great things you hear about it! The adorable stuff, the cute drawings, the prices, and everything. I enjoy coming here! I may not need anything, you know the typical... I am just going to go see / take a look around, but then bam! Little do you realize you're leaving with SOMETHING. Yeah, that's me. I always leave with something! Sometimes you see stuff that you did not realize you may need. Hahaha. I came here on a Saturday afternoon.... This location is just.. meh! Clarification on location: Its "down the street" from, not next to, Mitsuwa. Its in the same shopping plaza as 85degree Bakery off Carson and Western. I've been to many Daiso location and this is the 2nd smallest Daiso I've been to, with the Artesia location on Pioneer being the smallest. Compared to the Irvine, Buena Park or even Gardena location, this particular location has very little to offer. I wanted a specific snack, and they didn't carry it. I wanted a pill box, and their selection was limited. They had merchandise spewed all over the top of the merchandise display or on the floor, and the shelves were not stocked. I love Daiso stores, whenever I encounter a new own along my travels I can't resist popping-in if I have a few minutes to spare. You can't really say they are all the same, since product varies from store to store, they have exactly the same staples but they do vary on items and are noticeable to the frequent Daiso shopper. Not everything in the store is $1.50 there are items such as a large curtain rod go for $5 and baby wipes go for $1. So the price is marked with a sticker. If no sticker, it's $1.50! For the fellow foodie Yelper, I suggest a look-see through in the snack section you can find green tea flavored Pockey and fluffy bread rolls that are great for breakfast. Smaller than other Daiso stores it makes due with the space given, easy to navigate sections with clear signs on what sections you're in. This has been around for a few years now and its two blocks from my house. I went in there for the first time and they have a lot of stuff that is $1.50. They definitely carry a lot of storage containers and stuff for the kitchen. Most of their products are straight from Japan and being this cheap only tells you that they are pretty good quality. It doesn't carry a lot of food but it has things from electronics to postal supplies, makeup, socks, and all sorts of things. This store is very well kept so you'll enjoy walking down the short aisles they have. I will go back there as they have some things that you might not find at a dollar tree or 99 cents only store. There are a million Daiso's around the LA and OC area and this is another one. Whichever one you shop at, be it here in So-Cal or in Japan, they all pretty much have the same stuff. Unique and interesting items for a cheap price. This location is in a shopping center right on the corner of Western and Carson. So, if you are in that area, it is easy to get to. There is a large parking lot shared by Daiso and the other businesses. Thus, parking should never be a problem. The interior of this location is noticeably a bit smaller than the other locations in the area. But, the store is clean and the isles are well organized. I've been to several Daiso's in LA. I'm often in Ktown, so visiting this one in its plaza is convenient. It's a bit tight compared to other locations like Little Tokyo and Sawtelle. A lot of things are $1.50 unless marked. I do go to 99 cents stores for cheap supplies and food, but I would go to Daiso for cooler little nick nacks. You could give them as small gifts. read more

If you've never stepped foot into Daiso, you are missing out. This is the Japanese version of the 99 Cent Only Stores, and most items are $1.50 plus tax. This location has a great selection of items for your needs... and WANTS too lol. I'm surprised I don't shop here frequently because I definitely should come here more often. As cute as it may be, Daiso is a dangerous place. I came here for one item... and left with 8. I wanted to get a large porcelain bowl to use for eating lunch in the office when I am not going out to eat. I got a cute bowl adorned with a rabbit design for $4. I then got more chopsticks, a water bottle with insert that keeps your water cold, a small cutting board, a cute folding fan with an owl on it, some Marukawa gum (one of my favorite types of gum), etc. Basically, a lot of things I didn't really need, but the key word was "cute." The items they sell are quite useful though! Customer service was awesome, and the cashiers were very friendly. I was waiting at the line to check out and she was just on her phone not looking up and not wanting to help. Had to get helped by her guy coworker. Kawaii Products from Japan for mostly $1.50?! Why yes, please!! This location Is very close to me so I always seem to have some kind of excuse to swing on by. I've been a fan of Daiso products since Marukai use to own their own version of 99 cent stores. Almost everything they carried had Daiso marked, so it was a matter of time before Daiso Corp branched out on their own in the US. They provide cute little shopping carts that doesn't take up much space. A big plus in my book! Makes maneuvering through aisles a lot easier & less painful. You can find a plethora of interesting stocking stuffers. :) Hahaha, it can get a little dangerous shopping here. It's so easy to buy things you don't need! Customer service seems to remain consistent in every Daiso store I've visited. Warm, friendly, and inviting. Rules remains the same: all sales are final, no returns or exchanges. So make sure you inspect your prospective purchases before checking out. I'm definitely a fan of Daiso products & will continue to be a return customer! This location is located in the same plaza as 85 Degrees Bakery and Mitsuwa, where the old Chinese buffet was. Like people have said in other reviews, this location is a bit smaller. The aisles are smaller as well. However, they don't lack in merchandise. Everything is organized by section. Toys, office supplies, kitchenware, etc. they have something for you every need. There are also hidden surprises you'll realize you don't need until you see it. Everything is $1.50 unless it's marked otherwise. In the past I've found a broom/dustpan set, an iPad stand, cute Tupperware and other tchotchkes. I also like their selection of Asian snacks and candy. Two thumbs up! I'm a fan!!! read more
