I was a bit surprised to see this store still open, as it always looks fairly empty up front from…read morethe outside. I remember this location from back in the day was a movie theatre and then in the most recent years, a LA Fitness. I used to go to the gym here often and so it felt a little nostalgic walking in remembering when the gym got renovated. Now at Last Chance, it's been transformed into more of a giant warehouse of random things. Gone is the fresh paint and shiny gym mirrors and instead it's replaced with tables filled with random stuff. It is more like a giant garage sale and the whole place had a noticeable odor. The overall atmosphere also felt a bit uncomfortable for me personally due to the security presence. This spot wasn't the right fit for me, but for others they may have a different experience.

Review #877 2025-050…read more The Last Chance Store is a discount retailer that sells overstocked, returned, & discontinued merchandise from major retailers in bulk at deep discounts. If you enjoy spending time treasure-hunting to find bargains or the potential for designer/brand names, then this is the place to be. They acquire truckloads of goods from major retailers, including overstock, returns, & discontinued items, which may be opened, missing parts, &/or broken. You buy at your own risk because all sales are final, no exchanges or returns. Due to the ever changing inventory, each week is a unique opportunity to find deals with the best selections on Fridays... home goods, school supplies, electronics, clothing, books, etc. It's first-come, first-serve, & no holds bar in snagging that treasure. There's no rhyme or reason in the organization (it's severely lacking), so what you find one day in the bins may be totally different on the next (week) visit. Closed on Thursdays to restock, the items are supposedly all 1 price based on the shopping day with Friday being the most expensive, & Wednesday as the least expensive because it's the last day from the previous Thursday's inventory. Prices have gone up since opening 3 years ago except for Wednesday; starting at $10 (Saturday), $7, $5, $3, $2, $1 (Wednesday). 2025 Prices: Friday: $12 Saturday: $10 Sunday: $8 Monday: $6 Tuesday: $4 Wednesday: $1 I've been here a couple of times towards the end of the sales, & not everything is sold according to the sale day (e.g. Pokémon trading cards were stocked in the "VIP Section" were priced $10 instead of $1 on Wednesday). Items along the store's perimeter are also priced differently & usually higher than Friday's no matter the day of week. I've purchased some school supplies, hand soap, & other home essentials for $1 & $2. My husband has found name brand protein & granola bars, though I would be wary of edible items since it's unknown how they were stored. Luckily, my Wednesday visits weren't crazy crowded like the early days. Is the hype/hysteria over for bargain hunting? IDK ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ There's no customer service on the floor during my visits, other than a cashier by the exit. Can't say she was friendly, just rang up my items & handed me the receipt. I don't recall if there are shopping bags for purchase if you forgot to bring your own. It's not my thing. I may stop by every now & then, but I don't always leave with a purchase. Last Chance Store is aptly named for the treasure-hunting lovers... good luck!

Thus she can stop into any close Goodwill location, donate, and then stop into the adjoining thrift retail store to do a little shopping. That's exactly what we did on a Saturday afternoon when we were in Redondo Beach for brunch. Dropping off the clothes was simple and manual. There is a QR code to scan, to automatically generate a tax receipt for the donation. Unfortunately, the first step of creating an account via an email never worked, so gave up to try again later. Nevertheless, it was a good stop, where she bought a dress for herself and one for her mom. The store was well staffed with helpful associates. I usually peruse the used records, books, and toy section...not a great selection at this store, but probably a good thing for me personally, since I don't really have the space.

They did have an assortment of items; seasonal Halloween items, clothes, some toys, decor, books, etc and even rugs! But very limited. I see people donating all the time but there's not much in here. The peace I guess is too small to house everything. Maybe they only select a handful of goods and dump the rest. The cashier up front is not friendly. I politely asked a quick question and she said two words with a stank face. She looked annoyed and tired. No hello, or welcome, or sorry, or any acknowledgment whatsoever. She abruptly ended the conversation and I walked away. Place needs better customer service so not to scare off potential buyers. I suggest management to properly train these workers. A bunch of females in the back (I guess the sorting area) behind a big door were just laughing it up and talking so loud I could barely hear myself think. They weren't working. They just kept gossiping and talking out loud to the point you can hear it from across the other room as I walked away. It was difficult look through the items because they were cackling so loudly. 10/12/25

Garbage. Basura…read more Been wanting to come here by seeing them on Yelp. It's my first, and unfortunately my last. They have parking at the back for convenience. Upon entrance, no greeting whatsoever. Horrible service. The place is dead as it is. No customers at all. No welcome, nor any acknowledgment from the people that work here. One of them just stood at the back staring at us like we were going to pocket the garbage they had sitting in the bins. The workers that manage here or are friends or relatives of the owners need to step it up. The business high key looks like it's gonna shut down soon, and the least they can do to salvage the business is welcome the customers. The workers were shouting and yelling across the room about something they were looking at glued to their phones and yapping so loudly. They only mumbled hello under their breath when we were already leaving. They looked up and only said something towards the end. Which is too late. Had they been more friendly, they'd get more customers. Unfortunately, they need to learn a thing or two about customer service and professionalism in the workplace. Very gh3tt0. The bins are so dirty. Had a bunch of useless, trash or damaged, ripped, discarded pieces of junk everywhere. Not quality items. So packed and tight in one small rented space. A smaller version of other stores that sell overstock garbage. This place is technically used as a storage. For the rent they pay to lease it, must be a hard sell not having customers. I don't even think they separate or rotate their items on different days that are different prices. A $1 item is sold on $10 days. Doesn't make sense. There were also different prices advertised all over the store which looks confusing. My advice is tend to your customers, pay more attention, be more friendly, clean your items or remove unnecessary waste from the bins and rotate items that should look like their prices. Overall negative stars. Will not be back. I don't recommend. Waste of time.

They have everything household related I might need! From cleaning to kitchen to art to school supplies and then some, they've got it. They also had snacks from chips to chocolates to noodles. You need over-the-counter meds? They have it too! They even have imported goods from Japan, so if that's your thing, you might find it here. Pricing point is more than fair considering its location. Staff was friendly, service came with a smile. Like the first run, I found everything I needed as well... and then some! I frequent the AMC theater a few yards away. That said, I'd probably make stops here just the same.

This review is solely regarding customer service on one of the girls--whoever was working 05/24/25…read more@ 4:21pm needs to be properly trained. I have been coming here for many years and support the small business. I always buy something to patronize the business when I can. I personally have befriended the owner throughout the years. Whenever I see him, he is really nice, friendly, holds a conversation, and takes the time to talk and is extremely helpful and always smiling from ear to ear. They bring in different products from time to time, and their brand items are quite expensive for the most part. The store is packed with a lot of goods and I love walking around looking through them. Unfortunately my last visit here, the girl that cashed me out was not really friendly. She was a bit rude and unprofessional. I asked her how I can check my loyalty points as I have forgotten how to retrieve them. Every time you spend, the store rewards you back with credit. I politely asked her and she told me to pay first. So I got confused. As I was checking out, I paid, and then she gave me the receipt. I figured it would show me on the receipt or at least she would show me where to look or would have told me if I had any. My whole point was to check if I had any prior to paying so I can use it. When I asked again, she got annoyed and told me "you need to put in your information to check" with an attitude. She never showed me where to punch in my info, or even bothered to guide me. I told her, the reason why I wanted to check first is to see if I had any points to use. She again repeated "Like I said, you need to put in your number" She looked annoyed as if I was supposed to know what she was talking about. A little but if guidance would've helped. I was standing there looking dumb. When my info finally came up on their pin pad, it showed I only had one point. She looked and was all "Well you only have one point anyway" meaning it was useless to check. She was not only UNHELPFUL butcondescending I didn't say anything to the owner at the time when he emerged at the end because I didn't want the kid to get in trouble. She was young, and was just trying to make a little cash. I'm sure it would've helped the owner's business and would have appreciated me speaking to him about the situation to better improve loyalty for the customers and also for the business itself. In my experience, I would suggest proper training on the girls they hire here and perhaps better management on how to deal with customer service in the future. The kids they hire are young, but need more training on how to properly handling customers and taking the time to help them instead of just cashing them out quickly with no rapport--be more friendlier and professional.

There were easily 20+ people waiting in line that turned into a crowd of people and there was only one register open with at least 2 other employees both on the floor and both visibly nearby. Multiple customers sighed, eyes rolled and a couple even commented "Hello?" and "um, open another register..?" It took him well over 10+ minutes but he finally picked up the telephone intercom and called for rescue help to come open up a 2nd register and they finally did when an extremely morbidly obese bald guy employee immediately gave me some attitude, instead of saying "hello" or "sorry for the wait" he snapped "geez, can't you wait?!" What? We were all waiting 10+ minutes, then he said " you were not next in line" he was mistaken so I told him "no, actually I was next in line" (I don't cut lines) and how would he even know? He didn't see me standing in line amongst the crowd, he was looking nervously waiting on deck in the corner folding party balloons and waiting for the call to step up to the plate (pun intended...) and to be fair I did not wait for him to say "next in line" and I just put my 5 items on the belt, so "my bad" sorry not sorry, he then said "if you don't like waiting, there's the door". Yes, thank you Porky I'm well aware of the door location and ready to leave this disaster. I refrained from asking him the location of the nearest all-you-can-eat buffet because he was clearly looking stressed out, both sweating a lot and breathing heavily...after that I simply said "I don't know why it took so long to open a 2nd register with all these people waiting" then the "manager" yelled "DUDE, ENOUGH!!" I wasn't sure if he was talking to me or to his co-worker that started the entire unnecessary verbal exchange. At this point women were wide-eyed, blushing and looking around and young kids and teenagers in line were laughing. Pretty comical scene and sadly pathetic on their part. I understand working at Dollar Tree is probably a miserable experience overall and not an ideal career choice but maybe try to be better under pressure or find another place to work? Not worth it if they are so easily triggered by customers in long lines that they created by waiting too long to take action. The crowd could have been avoided entirely with 2 lines moving quickly if the long haired, bearded stoner looking "manager" w/ dark rimmed glasses knew how to actually manage a rush. Maybe he was under the influence of recreational marijuana and I think that he was based on his disheveled, unkempt appearance and his very slow reaction time...

The quality of the merchandise is good, but "Five Below" by design was as flawed in their original moniker by branding it as a "$5 or less priced items" implied business model that got outdated by inflation and time, much as what happened with the "$0.99 Cents Only Stores" who went out of business as well as the "Dollar Tree", both of whom, much as with Five Below, have merchandise at higher prices. Good merchandise over $5, but I'd think the corporate headquarters would rebrand with a name change so smarky customers don't bother the employees at the store with the conflicting name to the price tags :) or even have a frivolous lawsuit in the future for false advertising. I say that in partial jest 'tho. There's still a majority of items in that $5 price point with a few at $6 that looks like they could/should be $5 and a lot at the $10 range that clearly are worth more than $5. The selection of candies, snacks, toys, games, clothing, accessories, school supplies, knick-knacks and novelties as well as party favors and seasonal decor is good.
