Finally I was able to get my soft serve fix that I have been craving so badly. At first, we visited the DQ in Wyckoff and found a long line wrapped around the building. We decided to stop by the DQ at this location, Allendale. It's a great place if you want to ensure the least people around. There was no wait. All employees did a great job wearing masks and gloves. You as a customer are not able to enter without a mask. Not to mention, this location makes such great blizzards!! I tried to take a few kids to DQ Allendale this past Sunday at 2:00pm. The lights were on but the doors were locked and no one was there. The sign says it should be open. The man and I were housesitting for his sister's family and we needed a mini break from their wack-a-doo doggie and their new puppy. What better reason to hit up DQ? This is your standard DQ with a nice selection of hard ice cream. The kids working there were friendly and all smiles. My issue with this place is that it is not clean. The floor is sticky and there was a lot of dirt and garbage at the door and under the tables. This is what I call "long-term filth" because you can tell that it hasn't been swept nor mopped in a long time. Most people would not notice this if they are just in and out, but since we decided to "dine in", we noticed it. It's a ice cream place young staff run by an elderly man who doesn't really do much he's just kind of there informative staff kind of pricey compared to othe r dq's but all in all everything's good it'd be a 4 or 5 if it was a little cleaner but it just isn't. Definitely coming back and tipping heavy these kids work hard they deserve triple the amount of the dollars in that tip jar. read more

This is the second time in a row that I got a blizzard and there was no candy in it. The first time I questioned it and the sales person looked at me like I was nots and the second time I told them my experience and they said no it's in there. Even though it only looked like vanilla icecream I trusted that it was on the bottom. It wasn't Both times I had to mix in my own candy. They look nothing like the picture. After looking at Google to check hours, we went to the Dairy Queen located in Allendale, NJ. Online it said it closed at 10:30pm, but on the door it said 10:00pm. Well there was a lengthy line and the smell of vile cleaner as at 9:45pm, fifteen minutes before closing, two of the girls were cleaning with only ONE girl helping customers. As the line now reached the door, one of the girls cleaning decided to lock it so no one else could come in. It wasn't even 9:50pm yet. Oh, and as she swiftly ran to the door, she almost fell on the recently mopped floor. A girl behind us asked the singular worker if anyone else could help and stated Google (and DairyQueen.com) said it closed 10:30pm, she said the manager has tried to get it changed 6 times. So someone is messing up. Even on Yelp it still says 10:30pm. Regardless of feeling like we weren't welcome during open hours, my large milkshake and my mom's small blizzard weren't even full. The worker was in such a rush to deal with the line and get out of there, she did not fulfill our order to the quality it should be. This is unacceptable. Whether their training was that poor to clean the store and get out by 10:00pm or they went rogue as three teen girls, we as customers pay too much in these inflated times for piss poor service. There were at least 7 people who were turned away before 10:00pm because they locked the door. If I were one of those people I'd be even more furious than I am. I write this review to one, get on the same page about hours with your store and Google, and two, to express my immense discontent about my experience. I haven't been to this location in a long time, but I think it's under new management and let me tell you this place is brand new and soooo clean! The staff was very friendly and helped me pick out a BEAUTIFUL cake. We went home and had a piece of cake and the cake was so fresh and creamy, was by far the BEST ice cream cake I had in my life! The lobby and outside area has plenty of seating and is a very nice atmosphere to come with friends and family. I will be coming here more often! read more

One of the reasons I stayed away for so long was because of how dirty the place was inside back in the day. The ice cream was very good as usual, but the seating was limited. The kid in the Dq wouldn't accept the coupon because his register said Oreo treat and not sundae so they made her pay for both which was $11-$12. Meanwhile a 9yr old asked for a blizzard that had cookies abd M&ms and he said he can't have peanut butter. He got the blizzard and it was filled with peanut butter. They wouldn't take it back as some Description somewhere said it had peanut butter cookie pieces and the 9yr old said just "peanut butter". So, Crappy way to treat a 9 abd 14 year old. While the ice cream is good, the older woman working there is absolutely awful - very rude and surly. She clearly didn't want to be there and takes it out on customers. Brought in our two kids and she told one that she shouldn't be getting something because it's too much for her. I can't complain about the ice cream, the service, the cleanliness etc, all of that is great, but... I felt the need to post this, in hopes the manager would see this and address this. I went to this DQ location and ordered two ice cream cups to go, at the counter where you pay there was a sign affixed to the tip jar, the sign read "please tip, my college tuition is $50,000 a year" I have to say, I was truly offended by this. I even waited a few weeks before reviewing, but this sat with me. Why? Because, I worked my way through college too, and I didn't beg for tips at my restaurant job, sometimes I got a great tip and others I didn't, that's life kid! Kudos for working, to help out your mommy and daddy and learning what a paycheck is, but a sign like that is rude, unprofessional and frankly lacks class. It actually made me feel guilty paying with a credit card that doesn't offer a tip option, and no customer should leave with that feeling, ever!
