Last night my family and I went to the restaurant to get our free cones. My kids were so excited to get them. Looking forward to it all week. It was busy as expected so we got into line. At 8:50pm a female employee came outside and told us if we weren't in the restaurant in 5 min, we wouldn't be served. Less than 2 min later another female employee came outside and told everyone outside that they couldn't serve us, they were closed. I understand it was probably crazy busy all day but don't you expect that on your free cone day? All those employees wanted to do was go home. All they should have done was tell those in like that they were the last in line (since it was a full 10min before closing) and no one else would be taken. They should have had a line for just free cones and they would have gotten thru the line. Instead they were taking their time inside with Blizzards etc (we saw people coming out with them.) It wasn't that they did it, it was how they did it. Completely unprofessional and rude. Even my kids (11 & 14 years old) were appalled. We will not be back to this location. And considering how many people we saw down the street at Richardsons that were talking about it in line, I'm pretty sure they lost a lot of other people too. Sad because why have a promotion if you're not going to expect a crowd and work with it not against it. read more

RUN DONT WALK! to this dq! it might just have to be one of the best on the northshore! the workers here are attentive and friendly. they know how to really sell a blizzy! the tables are set up so beautifully and it's so clean here! you can really tell that the owners care about the safety of the workers with the amount of cameras! my churro dipped cone was one of the best things to happen to me! i don't know what i would do without the workers! 10/10 read more

They gave me the wrong order. The ice cream is amazing there but they gave me peanuts and I couldn't eat it.

I went on Mother's Day around 4-5pm. I have to say the place was a complete mess. The tables, benches/seats and floors were all dirty and were not wiped down or clean. I had to literally interrupt one of the employees, who were all having conversations amongst each other, while I stood there and tried to wait patiently. It didn't appear that their conversation was ending anytime soon. If that were to happen 'back in the day', we would have been reprimanded on the spot for not assisting 'customers first' and if it happened again, we would be fired! The online menu we saw said they have 'burgers'. We travelled 40 minutes to go to this particular one but when we got there, they only had "hotdogs'. Very disappointed. We got hotdogs, shakes and a blizzard. The food was decent. Ice cream is always good but I was almost even hesitant to eat there. Would have had a better experience if the above did not happen and if the place was clean. Even the windows were filthy. Sorry. read more

Came here tonight at 6:52pm for a blizzard as I haven't had one for a while only to find that it was closed and no explanation as to why on the door. Came here at around 5:45pm on Tuesday November 8. I was going to get myself a treat after voting. Well, I walked in and there was one person who appeared to be waiting for something. After about 5 minutes he got a sundae. Then another 5 minutes past and not a single person greeted me or acknowledged my existence. There were maybe 5 teenagers all walking around doing busy work. I understand that the labor market is tight. I'm short staffed at my job as well, but sometimes you need to hire an adult to supervise or manage the younger employees who clearly don't care about their jobs or know how to treat customers. I'll unfortunately not be returning to this DQ, which is sad because I just moved to Middleton and this place could have easily been my go to dessert place. Oh well. read more

The only reason we are giving 2 stars is because the kid at the cash register was very nice. However, the girl making the blizzards in the back could not have been more rude. She made a mistake with the toppings included but refused to acknowledge it and continued to tell us we were wrong even though it was visible that the toppings were not included and demonstrated it to her. She gave the worst attitude and poor customer service. The nice kid at the register felt so bad that he took over and added the toppings himself. We used to come here all the time but will not be coming back. Not a good way to start the summer season. read more

This is more about the experience and the ridiculous pricing than the ice cream itself. When you go in, there is a large sign where the owner is whining about how they have to pay minimum wage and blaming the state for making them pay a higher amount and they have raised prices because they supposedly can't afford payroll otherwise. Now let's get to the facts. Massachusetts raised minimum wage in 2019 by $1. Yes, $1. How many people does this location have on at a time? 5? We're not talking a full-service restaurant where you have 20-30 working here. We're talking like 5 people making an extra $1/hour, so an extra $5/hour + some payroll taxes. On $5, we're not talking mind-blowing numbers here folks. When it comes to the pricing, it went up substantially. It was almost $11 for a small cone and a medium blizzard. I can go to McDonalds and get a cone and a McFlurry that likely costs the same or even a bit more to make for around $5-6. Here's a tip for the owner. The restaurant business isn't a high profit business. The way to make money is by volume, not by treating it as it's the only time you'll ever see that customer. Maybe instead of whining about how unfair it is to have to pay your employees and using the state as the excuse, you should stop overcharging people and charge a realistic price for your ice cream. You may be DQ, but it's still cheap, soft-serve ice cream like they serve at McDonalds. If you thought the minimum wage increase hurts now, just wait till people stop coming in because they refuse to pay you double for what they can get somewhere else. Also, you are the reason minimum wage exists. If you weren't forced to pay it, the majority of your employees wouldn't even receive that amount. The minimum wage is scheduled to increase the next few years as well, so we can expect that sign to be in place every year now...if they're still in business. read more

My friends and I were really craving a blizzard. We arrived at 8:57 and they switched the sign from open to close. We were extremely disappointed. Good workers would not close early and would stay 2 minutes extra to make blizzards. We asked if they were closed and they said "yes" and laughed. I'm so disappointed in these workers. read more

This place is absolutely delectable! I come here extremely often and everything I've gotten from here has been delicious. The workers are the best I've ever met in my entire life. I had a pretty mediocre experience here a couple of months ago. I ordered a blizzard with a BOGO and both of them were good but my husband ordered a strawberry shake and it looked like he ended up with a smoothie instead. Well, I figured I'd give the place another chance, as everyone has a bad day from time to time, so we went back this past President's Day weekend. Well, the second experience was even worse than the first and of course, my husband refused to order anything. I ordered my two blizzards of the same flavor but when I got them home both of them were different. Also, this place seems to be a bit stingy on the mix-ins for some reason. You'd think on a hot evening, forecast for days, this establishment would manage to have more than two half-hearted workers. But in this case, you'd be wrong! When we arrived, there were 21 people in line ahead of us. It took not quite 21 minutes to get our ice cream, which is really amazingly slow when you consider that there were a couple of large groups (1 payment for several people) and many ordered ice cream cones. But with two indifferent, unfriendly and slow teenagers working the windows, this is how long it took. As an aside, my daughter's ice cream was far too runny for a cone, and my artic rush had too little flavoring, and was also too runny/warm. This place gets a big fat zero---can you give minus ratings, because that is what they deserve. We stopped by dairy queen after baseball practice and went it, gave our order and then was asked if it was for here or to go. We said it was for here. The kid got the order, he was kind enough. A hot dog, chips, soda and the other two people got a cone and a small sundae. We were sitting for about 30 seconds and the other guy walks over and turns the closed sign around on the door. We said they must be closing at 8. The next thing you know, he comes over and tells us we have to leave after being there for a total of 5 minutes. He stood up for us as we were in mid bite and shooed us up. He then said to my son that he would take that and took his tray with some of the hot dog left and threw it away. I was pissed to say the least and told him that you don't operate a business that way and that if they were not able to accommodate someone to dine in, then they should have said that at the time of the order. He then proceeded to argue with me and told me that I should have asked when I placed my order! I told him it was his responsibility and that you don't kick people out in the middle of eating their food. He told me it was my responsibility to look at the store hours before entering the store and that I should have known better. I told him he needed a course in customer service. Needless to say, they will NEVER get our business again and I will post this on face book for all my friends as well as all my groups. They won't have to worry about serving anyone at closing time again. read more
