Because what else do you do late at night that satisfies? You get ice cream - Duh. This Dairy Queen is a cute location in Davie. Their doors are closed after a certain time so you have to use the side window to make the orders. They do have seating outside To eat we had the following: Strawberry milkshake: yes it does have pieces of strawberry in the drink. They use the heavy whipping whip cream which is a really nice touch and doesn't melt quick in the drink. Chocolate extreme blizzard: it normally is chocolate ice cream with fudge, brownies & chocolate chips (but it's more like thick chocolate shavings). I asked for vanilla ice cream and no fudge. They do the infamous flipping of the cup when you get the blizzard. It is always tasty and chocolatey but be warned the ice cream does melt quick. It's been a long time since I've enjoyed and after school ice cream treat but lucky for my little nephew, he's just getting started. On a recent visit home to South Florida my sister and I surprised my nephew by picking him up from school. An even bigger surprise was on the way because she decided to pull over for some ice cream at Dairy Queen. The plaza that this DQ is located in also includes a childcare center of sorts and a few other shops, leaving parking for about 30 or so cars besides the school buses. When we arrived, it was actually buzzing with more energy and chatter than I expected as there are lots of schools in the area including one across the street. So it seems like this location is a hot spot for local students and their guardians. The staff behind the counter was full of sweet young ladies who reminded me of my days making ice cream creations on a 'cold stone' during my teen years. *tears* They were getting guests in and out with ease. My sister and nephew both got ice cream, I opted for a chili dog since I was more hungry than anything. Obviously the kid had no complaints lol. My chili dog was hot and filled with chili but it was eh. But they're in the ice cream business so I don't blame them! I went to this location with some friends and we all got blizzards. I tried many different flavors and really enjoyed my experience. For students near this location, I would say this is one of the better ice cream places to stop by for a quick bite to satisfy a sweet tooth. I tried the royal oreo blizzard, mint chocolate chip blizzard, and the cotton candy blizzard, and all three were amazing. I would highly recommend the mint chocolate and cotton candy as those were unique flavors that I could not get enough on. The oreo I did get a bit bored of. After trying to go to a trendier ice cream place the line was too long and we left, and my boyfriend asked "is there a Dairy Queen near here". I pulled out my Yelp app and found one less than two miles away. It was later on a Sunday night, and as we pulled into the parking lot I got excited. This Dairy Queen is so cute! The building looks kind of like a barn and definitely has a more vintage feel than other Dairy Queens I have visited. There is a patio outside where you can sit which also has an order window. The window was closed this particular night (it was a little chilly) so we went inside and ordered. I got a little overexcited when I saw that they had Orange Julius as well and ordered one of those. I also ordered a small vanilla cone with chocolate dip. I'll get the bad part over first. The Orange Julius was gross. I hadn't had one in probably 15 years, and it was just not what I remembered. I remembered more of a creamy orange flavor but this had a lot of tartness and orange juice flavor to it. Perhaps I am just remembering them incorrectly, or maybe they've tried to make them healthier and taken some sugar out, but anyway I won't blame Dairy Queen for the Orange Julius issue, and moved on to my ice cream cone. The cone was yummy, and the girls behind the counter were definitely professionals as it looked very pretty and was perfectly encased in a hard chocolate shell. My boyfriend ordered a banana split, which was expectedly delicious...and huge. We spent about $15, so prices at Dairy Queen have gone up since I was last there, but I also think a big part of the price was my misguided Orange Julius decision. Once again I have gotten crap service. the young girl looking ghetto could care less about customer service and proper language. I placed my order to go, two simple items I get all the time, (hence to go) but she gave to uncovered items and when I reminded her it was to go she handed me two lids, I placed the lid on the blizzard it wouldn't close properly hence it was to small but she proceeded to push it down with the spoon still in it causing the spoon to break and splinter in the ice cream. She shrugged it off like it was nothing and didn't offer to fix it. When I got home I had to pull plastic out of the ice cream. If you can't hire responsible and respectful employees, just go ahead and close the doors, no one should be treated poorly and have to pick thru ice cream afraid to bite into plastic from a broken spoon. this was unbelievable and a disrespectful situation from your employees to a customer. They charge double of what other dairy queens charge and they have the worst customer service! I love beef hot dogs so that's the only thing worth giving 3 stars but it wasn't over sized and I also got a mini blizzard but it was the NASTIEST ice cream that I threw it out when I walked out the store and three scoops, it was horrible. Not coming here again, rather just go to a nearby yogurt place to satisfy sweet tooth.
