Absolutely horrible customer service. We stopped by for a quick burger and steak fingers while driving through town. If we were told before hand that we would be sitting in the drive through for 40 MINUTES we would have gone somewhere else. This is at 2pm during a weekday btw, so they weren't busy. And after a 40 min wait the fries are cold, and dumped into the bag, my burger is wrong, my wife was given a coke instead of a doctor pepper, her gravy is cold, her "toast" is not toasted. Not impressed! Waited 20 min before my order was taken. They were not even busy. I was tbe only one. I did get told twice that someone would be right with me. But for customer service, friendly greetings, food delivered to our table (in a fast food restaurant?!), and incredible cleanliness, this place stands out as a Queen among Dairy Queens. Jogeanea and Willie both greeted us immediately upon entry and provided quick service. Another young lady whose name I did not catch was entering the already clean restroom to clean it as I exited. Buccees would have been proud of those restrooms. Overall, a wonderful group of people turned a casual snack stop on a long trip into an oasis of cleanliness and laughter. Great management! Apparently today is payday and everyone is excited about it! I have witnessed 3 young girls come in demanding their paychecks in a very loud tone. We also experienced the extended wait time. It's hard to call the service bad when it's hard to get someone to wait on you. Tonight i stood in line with an ice cream cake behind another couple waiting to order. I eventually gave up on any one of the 7 people behind the counter to acknowledge our presence. At a visit earlier this year i arrived to a locked store after calling to confirm they were open. It's DQ!!! I saw the poor star rating and was a little concerned because some small town DQ's can be kinna bad. But we gave it a try because I was craving some DQ Dude action. The food was really fresh and just what I was looking for. The girl at the front counter was very nice. The food came out pretty quickly for DQ and was delicious.....just as I was hoping. I've been coming to this DQ for about 6 years. It's a hit or miss whether you get decent service or not. I usually go for lunch during a weekday when it isn't so busy. They seem to get enough business even though more times than not you can wait and wait without anyone acknowledging your presence for 5 or so minutes, even if you're first in line. Food is about the same as any other DQ. They're going through a store remodel but the service hasn't changed. If you see a lot of vehicles in the parking lot/drive through, just keep going. Sonic is practically next door and you get much better service. read more

Dairy Queen in Elgin, TX I live in Austin and the this is by far my favorite Dairy Queen. Today 11/11 at 3:30 was a perfect example. There are mostly younger adults in the back and one cashier. I sat with my family watching 15 people come through in a 10 min turn around. I could tell they were a bit short staffed but honestly you couldn't tell it they were all smiles and taking care of each customer to the best of their ability. They worked together seamlessly. I envied their cooperation having working in offices my whole life. I complimented the team and their ability to stay on task never with attitude! This in conjunction with the food is the reason why this is my favorite Dairy Queen! read more

This was the worst Dairy Queen that I have been too in my years that I been a customer for this company. My family and I went to the one on 290 in Elgin and the food was bad. I ordered a crispy chicken sandwich with extra pickles. What I got was an extremely soggy bun and the juice from the chicken and mayo was so hot that it actually ripped the sandwich paper. Then I asked for tater tots and they were lukewarm. The drinking fountain had no ice tea, the soda machine was out of most everything. The girl that brought our dinner brought an extra plate of steak fingers, which we never ordered, placed it in front of me. Then they took it back. I have been in the food industry for several years and once you put something in front of a person, you can not take it back to the kitchen unless there is a problem. We did not want the fingers but it was that she grabbed on the inside of the paper of the basket. The ice cream we asked for was to be a to-go but was brought to us like we were going to eat in the restaurant. I will say that your onion rings are great. I tried 4 times to do the customer survey but that too is not working. I hope a manager reads this. I am not happy with the matter that my chicken sandwich was so soggy that it fell apart. The crew was very nice, that I will say is a good thing. The restrooms were ok, not great, like of stinky. Overall this was really really a bad experience to have come from a renfaire at Sherwood to try to have a hot meal and get this. I had always been a loyal patron in my early years of this establishment and recently after many years later; decided to revisit. I drove up and their speaker was not working; gave it a moment and it only took the highschooler about 8 minutes to actually begin to greet and take my order. I could see she was training others while she was taking my order. I place my order (extreme echo on speaker and in and out reception) then drive up and it takes her about 6 minutes to actually open the window and then another 5 to take my payment. In the time I patiently waited; I saw two trainees barely got there and not exactly prepared for work. Their trainer kept touching her nose about 5 times throughout the cash register orientation with her trainees and taking orders; then after she took my payment she kept touching her nose too often. I was a bit too generous and did feel bad if I had denied receiving my order (if it had not been that it was boxed/covered and my drink(s) were also covered). My overall expereince was disappointment. I remember when I was in highschool; we took our (hometown) jobs a bit more serious. More customer friendly, cleanliness and more empathy for our customers who patiently waited for our services. The main "saving grace" was that at least she was friendly while she took my payment and a "thank you" for coming to their restaurant. I seriously doubt I will return and certainly not suggest/recommend any one I know to go there. Sad to see how this establishment has majorly lowered their standards in their employee training and customer service provided. read more

I just quit this DQ a few months ago. I had been working their since April 2014. The manager that hired me was lazy and didn't do much. When he got fired and a new GM came in, he turned the place around. I hated working fast food, but I can honestly say I gave 110% working here. Other workers would get annoyed because I told them ice creams were too small or blizzards didn't have enough ice cream or fries were cold. There was maybe 2 or 3 other employees that actually cared about the food/ice cream that they were giving out. But a lot of times I heard cooks say "oh they won't mind that the fries have been out for 10 minutes" or "they can take the tomato off themselves" There were a lot of high schoolers and careless employees. I quit because the current GM hired new employees that were rude and would curse at me for no reason. One even threatened me and constantly told me to do her job. That DQ had improved a lot since I started working there, but now it's going back downhill. read more
